Even though I as of now have no Thundercats, I did bite on the Cat's Lair, just because it was so impressive and I expected the price to be way worse if they ever did it. It's going to be a companion to my Matty Grayskull and the S7 Snake Mountain, and between now and when it comes out I'll collect just the main cats when I find them at a good price. It's going to make for some great cross-overs. That said, I have a hard time going in on other Super7 stuff, and both the price and character selection are the issue. And after seeing what has happened with The Simpsons, I'd have to think very long and hard before I go in with any other line with them in the future. They make cool looking figures, no doubt - but their price/selection model just seems to be very conflicted - they are trying to stretch out the main characters too far for more casual collectors to be interested (the Simpsons waves were just nonsensical to me) but at the same time position themselves to really only appeal to hard-core all-in collectors who are dumping $250 per wave which isn't going to attract the fans of those franchises who actually want all those one-off characters with the price point as high as it is. Basically, they are going for these really high profile (and expensive) licenses, but managing them like they are smaller properties in a pseudo-subscription service like Matty used to be. |

I commented one time about how the first video I ever watched when I discovered their channel was one of their fan-convention panels. I stated how I was attracted to his enthusiasm and level of knowledge. Then as I watched more videos I realized that mostly he just complained and videos where he is doing anything other than that were quite rare. He challenged me in the comments, not that I was wrong -but that I should hate things the same way he does. Nine months later he was still challenging me in the comments. NINE MONTHS! |
I had a brief exchange that ended with him getting incredibly offended and calling me a jerk. Ah well lol..I did feel a little bad about it.
For me it's that paradox where Im generally interested in his content but don't care for the person behind it. So while I don't seek it out, if i come across it-and it seems interesting-I'll usually watch. Separating the artist from the art, as it were. |
I watched a video to see if he had any Super7 videos.
He's saying all the same things I have said about Super7, but somehow I just can't stand to watch him say them. |

Have Super 7 products been on Pulse before?
The Dungeons and Dragons figures are: https://hasbropulse.com/collections/...-demons-2-pack I don't know if these figures will go on sale at Pulse, but I am certain they will go on sale. Quote:
I had forgotten he had called me a "Possitvity Addict". |
I want to say they've sold some Power Ranger and GI Joe Super 7 stuff on their site.
I have a weird relationship with Retroblasting. Because when he makes a good video, I really enjoy his channel. But he has an incessant need to respond/show that he is right when someone questions him. Nothing can be left alone. Nothing can be a difference of an opinion. It's "I'm right and you're wrong". Just show me videos of your cool collection man. |
I've got my fingers crossed for a Nozone to make it into the next wave of Toxic Crusaders Super7 Ultimates, I'm hoping the upcoming Toxic Avenger movie and the new Toxic Crusaders Video game drum up some hype and we get a 2nd wave sooner then later.

In an interview with the Robo Don't Know Youtube channel, it was said that they have licenses for Spinal Tap, Thin Lizzy, and Type O Negative. Spinal Tap isn't that big of a surprise, but I never imagined that any company would ever release Type O Negative action figures.

They also have the license for Rankin bass frosty the snowman and comic conan & kull. Hoping those are ultimates and a Buscema Conan |

I am absolutely hating that they've been pushing these smaller sized figures lately at the regular $55 price point. If a larger sized figure can get their price bumped up by $10 or $20, then it should go the other way too...$5-10 at the very least.
|
I've never bought a Super 7 ultimate ever. But if they did a Ronnie James Dio one I might. I hate those reaction figures and would love a proper good sized figure of Dio. Hell do one of Dee Snider too

I know this thread is supposed to be about the new Super7 stuff, but all the old criticisms apply to this Copper Kidd.
The entire wasteful Super7 design paradigm is represented. While it looks like the faces could be easily swapped out, Super7, of course, chose to create three entirely separate heads. The "Smiling Head" and the "Whistling Head" look expressively the same except for the mouth. Someone forgot to make the "Whistling Head" look like it was whistling. What is the difference between the "Expressive Hands" and the "Flying Hands"? Which pair is "Expressive" and which pair is "Flying"? How hard would it be to engineer and manufacture poseable wings, legs, and the beak for May-Day? Would it really be more money than having two static May-Day figures? They couldn't put any kind of joint at all on the flying version's wings? Literally the only flying pose is the one where her wings are at a 45 degree angle. Quote:
I was pretty critical of Retroblasting in some posts above, but I agreed with Michael French about the sleeve in the video I watched. What is the sleeve for? It covers the collector friendly box that's designed to keep the figure sealed yet fully visible for display. Why make a collector friendly box, then make a sleeve to obscure that box? How did that become part of Super7's manufacturing process? Why did it stick around so long? |
Heads & hands that are only marginally different has been a thing with them since day one. The laughing head for Filmation Skeletor wasnt too far off from his default head. There are still hands with some of my Thundercats where im not sure how they differ from the other hands they're packed with.
Their best use of alternate heads has been the Conan line, imo. |

I think the Cobra Commander is possibly the best example of the worst.
It makes sense to have two heads for Cobra Commander when one is the helmet and one is the hood. Super7, however, feels the need to have no hooded version, but to include two complete helmet heads; with and without a stripe. It would be too hard to just change out the top part of the helmet. And then, instead of making the shaft of the scepter wide enough to fit in the grip hands, they make the shaft thin and engineer a hand that can only hold the scepter. And, I guess each one had an appearance in the cartoon, but it kills me that there are three pistols that each just look like a "Ray Gun". |

But, maybe i'm giving them too much credit cause it feels like I could go through just about all of my Ultimates and find instances of questionable design & accessory choices. |

A few years ago he forgot the name of the Tantive IV rebel blockade runner so I was offering a friendly reminder of the name, that exchange collapsed worse than Lizzo on a park bench, that guy is a total prick for no reason. |
