Meh... There's too much better shit coming out right now (or stuff that's already out, which I can never find).
So bad timing, esp for those bad prices (A $100 for A 1/24th scale re-pack). WtF!? If anything, MASK should of been up-scaled to the 1/18th; four inch" scale. |
Ouch- $175 for the SDCC set is a lot. I was excited about this line, but I'll have to see what the MSRPs are for the non-exclusive items. I have the vintage stuff, so it's hard to justify the expense for me if they end up being pricey. I wonder if there's any chance of them selling the figures separately? Would be cool to get the more articulated figures to use with the vintage vehicles.
|
I was looking forward to that set, but a 75 buck jump for a redeco and the addition of those two smaller figures seems like a lot to me.
Hopefully they're re-release Scott and T-Bob separately later. |

I was really interested in getting this series when it was released because they said it would be well-priced, and I love it, but if this is an indication of the pricing they’re going with, I just won’t be able to afford it. That’s too bad, but I’m glad some people will get the chance to enjoy it.

Tacking on another $75 to the Rhino for Scott and T-Bob and different paint is not a wise move. Pricing from $30 to $100 ain't so smart either. So, who's still happy about the return of M.A.S.K.? I don't think this has been handled very well. Not at all. I lost all of my originals so I was excited. Was.

New Price increases before tomorrow's pre-orders. Might be just me, but it really feels like they're pricing people right out of these. |
That's it. I have removed this from my socials. TLS can count me out.
|
Hah! None of them are sold out yet.
|
I think the lack of elbow articulation is a big miss.
I was planning on getting these but my budget won't allow for it this year. I am going to have to wait until next year or a significant sale. Regardless, I am glad they got released and are available. I doubt we will see more at this point though. |

Easy pass for me. At that price, I would have expected a little more articulation for the figures.

Try searching the phrase: the loyal subjects blog recent news mask global preorder live july 1st. The blog post was dated June 30th. As far as I can tell the only other retailer in the US to carry these is Amazon (starting in August) which could also be contributing to the high price, but will also be your best bet to get them eventually on sale/clearance. |
Here's the post about vac metal.
https://theloyalsubjects.com/blogs/r...-live-july-1st I'm surprised there's not another price hike. Well, at least for now. |

But the price increases? That’s all due to tariffs and the uncertainty around them. Not to dredge too much politics into this, but the fact remains that nearly all of our toys, regardless of directed audience, comes from China and Vietnam which have, or are about to see, SIGNIFICANT tariff impacts. That is a cost TLS has to incur to sell the products in the US. As is, I applaud them from trying to “add value” to lessen the sting of those increases (the vac metal, the mask variants, etc). As a smaller company, TLS is simply more sensitive to price impacts and have to respond more quickly than a behemoth like Hasbro and its hundreds, if not thousands, of products. But that doesn’t negate the fact that almost every toy manufacturer and retailer has been warning of increases set to hit across the board this fall. Quote:
The reality is that TLS is positioning MASK as a boutique product line, not dissimilar to the products you see from Hot Toys, or Mafex, or Super7, or any number of specialty toy producers. If these were to be carried by Walmart or Target, I wouldn’t expect to see much of a price decrease simply because I don’t see there being enough in the margin to allow it. The better question is this: If you had these toys as a kid, and don’t now, how much would it cost to scrounge together a relatively nice, complete, sample of these products? I’m not “in” the toy buying know enough to accurately answer this, but I guarantee that it would cost more to get a vintage RHINO than it is to buy this remake. That should be the perspective one takes when viewing the pricing on these, not how they compare to the (often compromised) lower margin stuff Walmart insists Hasbro and Mattel make. My perspective is this: I liked MASK, had a few toys in my youth. Am I a hardcore fan? Not really, but I love the play pattern, love the scale (though, Computer Warriors and Dino-Riders were my mini-scale toy lines). Prior to the increases, MASK25 was already at my limit. Now? I may have to re-evaluate where my toy budget goes as other lines are apt to see increases this fall. But if this was something like Dino-Riders? I wouldn’t hesitate because I KNOW a remake is going to be cheaper that hunting down an original. This product isn’t directed at kids who don’t know or care about the toys they DO get. They are for us old farts, and I hope it is successful enough to see more stuff LIKE THIS become available, even if it isn’t always for me. But I’m still PROBABLY going to end up getting the RHINO by year’s end, and hope for some interesting announcements at SDCC. |
