Wait a minute....that Wolverine is either retooled or new!*

*The one in the Sentinel's hands.

Swivel waist, no XMO thigh swivel, and sculpted tiger stripes! Mask looks new too.

Gotta say the approach of supplementing the MU line with comic figures is genius. What better way to get the more collectible characters out there. Crossbones is one for comic readers but i'm thinking it's such a kick-ass figure kids will definitely appreciate it.
I'm looking forward to picking up most the cap line. I'm still hoping to see more comic style figures from the Thor line. At the very least comic alternatives of Loki and Odin.

Well from my understanding of it

It is the same mold they have used for Wolverine in the MU line (X force Wolfie, Brown suit SW Wolfie, Xavier costume wolfie).

Recently in the Target Two packs, they released a Wolverine with this color scheme with the Black Hand ninja. I have the figure, he is very nice.

The only difference between the Target Two Pack Wolfie and this one, from what I can tell, is the Hasbro blue highlights that Hasbro put on the Wolfie two pack to make him look "classic". The one with sentinel doesnt have this woohoo!

Cap toys won't be out until May, yet we're getting confirmation of a separate comic series and being shown the first wave.

Hmmm....I hope Thor isn't getting shafted by Hasbro. I know there will be product, but I think Thor's characters are more numerous and would work better as toys than Cap's. And I love both characters equally.

I share your concerns. I can only boil it down to two truthes....

1) How CAN'T they put a comic line in this? Its a recipe they've been using with almost all of the Marvel movies that have come out and even in the some of the lesser box off hits, the toyline always incorporated at least a few "comic/toy collector seeking characters" example: Hulk 2008 movie, Bibeast, Iron clad.

2) After looking at Hasbro's marketing strategy with all these separate lines (Iron Man, Marvel Universe, Spiderman, Thor, Captain America and soon to be Animated Avengers toys I'm sure). Maybe they are afraid of cross-inner-competition....I'm not sure why this would lead them to decide to cripple one line and deviate from their previous marketing formula but who knows....

If anything, we know that we are getting a Destroyer fig which was shown at the latter half of SDCC so its not a complete loss. I have faith that we may get one or two other gimmes.....

I'm ultimately predicting an XMO success with this: a minimal, small line with lots of movie heavy figs, with a few comic stuff thrown in there. Just taking what you can get...

That is not the MU mold. It is the XMO mold with the ball jointed legs and one piece claws. Although, the legs look like they could be new. I'm not sure, but the head is obviously a new mold.http://i.marvelousnews.com/g/generat...scaled_600.jpg

We didn't attack this like we do most events, sorry about that. Bad timing for the staff that was able to attend, we could only go up today.

You guys are doing a great job! We love all that you do!

prowl26 10-10-2010 08:07 AM

THESE ARE FABULOUS, the Cap line looks incredible and I like that they are putting more thought into the pack in weapons as opposed to just the same missile launchers over and over. I like the Thor stuff we have seen so far but cannot wait to see more.

Ash Talon 10-10-2010 09:48 AM

I don't think a Destroyer figure was shown at SDCC. We know he/it is in the movie, so a figure is obvious.

I expect there will be a comic and movie/concept series for Thor figures, since it's how they did Wolverine, Iron Man 2, and will be doing Cap. It makes too much sense. I'm just surprised they didn't show more Thor stuff, since it comes out 2 months before Cap.

I see Hasbro doing a small line of X-Men figs in the 2nd half of 2011 to coincide with the movie. But I don't see them being specifically movie-based. It sounds like their costumes are somewhat accurate to the classic comics, so they might not need a specific movie line.

I've thought about it all night, and I want to think otherwise, but that Cable figure is a big pile of poo. He doesn't look like any version of Cable, especially not the Cable #1 cover it's based on, and the baby on the front doesn't even look like a baby. The curl on the baby's head from the original artwork has become a red spot. Instead of Cable and Hope, we've got some guy I used to know from Berea in his Cable Halloween costume with a conjoined twin that carries the Power Gem on his forehead. Everything else looks amazing, but I'd really like to see another Cable as soon as they can.

Ta da! Destroyer Fig

He appeared on last day on the Throne of Odin only for a few hours.

I'm pretty sure he is just a prototype because it looks like he has 0 articulation

I share some of your sentiments, I really do. I just blindly accept it I guess because it's unique it's own way...

But I'm definitely holding out for a variant or running change perhaps?

It isn't the Target one, that's what I thought too, and I have that. The Target one does not have sculpted tiger stripes, nor does it have a waist swivel. It also swivels at the bicep, in lieu of elbrows.

What I love is that the Captain America figures, well the regular ones for the most part, have the new style Marvel Universe hip articulation. I wish we could have bicep swivel too, but I'll settle for elbrows. Also, look at the proportions for Winter Soldier, Ultimate Cap, regular Cap, and New Cap; ALL more muscular as opposed to scrawny like the Marvel Universe versions.

Earlier this year some of us(myself included), were clamoring for new versions of Captain America that were more updated compared to the ones we already had. Now that I've seen these? Not anymore. I'm happy. I think the only thing I will do is swap out the shields with the Marvel Universe versions so I can have the new "Caps" with regular shields, in lieu of gimmicky over-sized shields.

The head might be from the Giant X-Men box set bu I'm not sure. The legs are definitely ball jointed. Good move in the right direction; we are finally closer to a Marvel Universe style Wolverine that is IN SCALE(as opposed to XMO Origins style...this figure seems like a blend, for example, it has elbrows but MU hips)!

Thats a life size prop from the movie.

Shin-Gouki 10-10-2010 05:11 PM

YES! I have faith in Hasbro making good 3-3/4" SF figures, so long as there is minimal parts reuse. The old lines had potential in the 90's but lost it because there was too much mold reuse.

ooten 10-11-2010 08:49 AM

for sum reason i cant find the thor toy images can someone please post a link. sorry for my ignorance. lol
that apocalypse is awesome and the cap line is lookin good. i like cable minus the baby maybe its removable its gotta be atleast with a hobby knife.

aquanet 10-11-2010 09:03 AM

The new winter soldier figure looks 100 times better than the MU version.
Apocalypse, World War Hulk, 90's Cyclops, Cable all look awesome!

The 1st appearance wolverine has an awesome head sculpt!

As for the cap line, the figures look awesome! but what's with the lack of villians, Crossbones? Where is Red Skull, Baron Strucker, Zola, Zemo?! Cap needs to fight someone!

Robogeek28 10-11-2010 10:36 AM

Wow, so much awesome stuff coming down the road, I just wish I could afford it all!:(

Johnnyakiba 10-11-2010 11:09 AM

I decided to cut down my collecting...again...
but man...

TOO MANY GOOD FIGURES. I think Winter Soldier, New Captain, Gladiator, Apocolypse, Captain Britain, USAgent, and Cyclops are ALL BOUGHT.

Robogeek28 10-11-2010 11:17 AM

I'm not understanding the inclusion of Captain Britain in the Captain America line though.

trebleshot 10-11-2010 02:01 PM

^ Maybe it's a subtle SHS reference?

They all look interesting to me, but I'm going have to wait until they hit retail before I decide to buy any of them.

I don't either...only reason I can think of is that it's because he's a captain too..

Snowflakian 10-11-2010 02:29 PM

well the invaders might be in the movie, so they might be doing marvel modern invaders so to speak. A rep from the UK etc.
