I'm all for both BAF MU and keeping the gigantic battles/masterworks lines.

BAF would be particularly for providing correctly scaled characters larger than the Juggernaut mold. GB/MW for providing larger characters where their limbs wouldn't fit in the existing MU packaging. However, Hasbro needs to get their asses in gear and start providing GB and retailer exclusives to other countries, especially those north and south of the USA.

Here too, it is kind of really silly. I am just thankful the single carded figures for MU haven't been exclusive...yet.

They know how to make awesome figures, they just can't justify making new molds or spending too much on producing the Gigantic Battles sets. If they molded parts for larger characters it would breathe new life into MU.

Jason Abbadon 10-30-2011 09:54 PM

I's rather skip a BAF and get the level of accessories that GI Joes have- maybe alternate heads for an "unmasked" version with each applicable figure.

A bunch of figs could have Skrull version heads to do a Secret Invasion kinda thing...maybe just open mouth screaming versions.

IF they did abAF though, I'd want it to be something like Machine Man or a Dreadnought- so it justifies being in parts.

I think we're all trying to see an improvement here.

Where the heck would pieces of a BAF figure fit in the packaging? Granted, some of the MU figures are thin, but none are thin enough to fit a portion of a large figure...

Are they?

Exodus 10-31-2011 09:41 AM

Hi is BAF, "Big A..Figure"?

Close. It actually stands for "Build A Figure". The Marvel Legends and DCUC figures often came with a piece to a larger figure that you could assemble when you had all the pieces.

Prem1x 10-31-2011 09:45 AM

No BAF. Just give us GB, a new deluxe price point, and more accessories.

Ah ok thank you for clearing that up. And I would be against it. You would be chasing figures you don't want to complete the set in my opinion, plus they would have to make the cards even bigger which ruins the whole MU line...Keep it with the ML line.

I agree with BAV ( build a vehicle ) Hellbike, Fantasticar, Capt. A/Hawkeye's Bike, Aragorn or BAD/BAS ( build a diorama/build a scene ) Tony Stark lab, Reed Richards lab, Doctor Doom's throne room, Peter Parkers apartment with a Mary Jane in lingerie WOW!!!!!

Yes please!

I'd be all over these in a heartbeat. Especially if later on they managed to make them universally compatible switchable for more varied combinations for repeats.

Sure doom's throne, or GR's bikes would be hard to do that way, but apartment pieces, street pieces, building pieces would be much easier if they weren't pieces that are only for certain things.

Like say Four Freedoms plaza, have reed and sue come with the doors while other troop building type figures like the mole kids come with a room piece or building piece that can be used multiple times. Ditto to shield or hydra or aim. Let the named characters have the obligatory single use piece, and then let the noname troops come with a repeated piece that can build around it.

This could also work with X-Men really well. Let Professor X have the danger room door or cerebro helmet, but then let the rest of the X-team of that wave have the repeated piece of Danger room walls/floors. Or let emma frost have the cerebro console/helmet or door while the cuckoos have a 5 piece repeated set that forms the cerebro room around it.

This helps balance cost, allows massive reuse, and keeps the figures moving to finish these scenes. Even allows for fans/kids to trade them based on what they still need to finish building their universe.

I've gone on a huge explanation about that idea before long ago. xD

As for doom's throne room though. Let doom come with the throne in a vehicle type box, while the doombots come with a repeated piece for the throne room that does walls and floors. Or something similiar like that.

Fantastic 4 is a perfect example for the fantasticar though since each one would have their seat on it.

For GR's bike, maybe do it in halves. Human identity gets half the bike, GR form has the other half of the bike. Addedd bonus if the wheels are swappable for flame wheels when applicable to the character. Or make a universal bike type, that then has the handle bars with front crest and wheels with whatever figure that needs those. Like say Ketch ghost rider would have flame wheels and his front board, whereas cap's variation would have a shield storage front handlebar and normal wheels. Then let the bike be built from other aspects of the wave that are troop building types or human Johnny Blaze figure with stunt bike type box like the suggest doom throne.

Tons of ways you could do it really if you just sat down and worked out how to balance costs per figure per wave. I just tend to favor the boxed single starter part way for some. This also lets you have some debris for your dios if you want them like tires and stuff. Or in the case of the X-Men they could do an interlocking sentinel debris field type stand like ML/MS used to do.

bmorr 11-01-2011 03:49 PM

we can always get an oversized figure from the reborn legends line.

I like the skrull head idea and I do like the unmasked heads idea, but barring a few like Tony Stark in techno cowl, cyborg rhodes, and some others, it'd almost be better to release a civillian figure that a person can headswap with. Keeps the extra head from getting lost, and let's hasbro sell an additional figure at retail to boot. I'd almost prefer that to be done in CP two packs for some.

Extra accessories are a must for those that warrant it though. Especially since BAV/BAD/BAS aren't likely to ever happen.

bmorr 11-01-2011 03:59 PM

ill be eagerly waiting for them to put out a new version of giantman/yellowjacket/golaith.

Jason Abbadon 11-01-2011 10:14 PM

Masters of Evil Goliath! we need that version- and it'd just be a new head!

KingLouie731 11-02-2011 04:24 AM

Plus a new paint scheme right? I thought MOE Goliath was brown & tan kinda like wolverine's old costume

im with you. it would have to be a lot of changes made to the cards to fit something in. plus like dcuc and ml you would be stuck with characters who u dont want or need to build it

Autobot_Goldbug 11-02-2011 06:37 PM

NO TO BAF!!!
Those are only magnets for thieves to steal the BAF parts! Not to mention the characters I don't want having a BAF piece.
I would rather have a deluxe scale option. Then we could have Ghost Rider with motorcycle etc.

D00MTR0N 11-02-2011 06:41 PM

yeah the whole having to buy tons of figures you dont want is a bust,F baf!

I agree 100% NO baf

Shawn Woodbeck 11-02-2011 06:56 PM

Baf is a better idea for 6 inch figs rather than 3.75

Good Stuff 11-02-2011 07:32 PM

op should add a poll to this thread....who'd be nay or yay....

personally, i'm in favor of MU BAF but only as an added bonus - no price increase or cutting corners on quality or any low balling crap that Hasbro is capable of.
