I clean the meat departments at two grocery stores on the weekend.

I'm about to seek some retail work for the holiday seasons though. After dinner I'm grabbing my personal info and hitting all the applications and taking out cover letters.

I'd like to expand my writing forays farther with the connections I have, but for now the landscaping pays too well to give it up. Plus the life experience and real world work experience really helps the writing. It's one of my pet peeves that writers who have always lived a lofty lifestyle try to write the everyday man having never truly experienced it and then get overtly arrogant and start claiming superiority over the 'plebians.' Makes me want to just smack them upside the head.

Yeah, that sentence got away from me, but I also tend to prefer an informal style in everything but real written work.

Suddenly every post I've seen from you makes total sense, lol. At first I just thought you liked to talk a lot because there was never anything concise in your responses (excluding debates which tend to be long from anyone).

Keep pursuing the writing gig, man. It's definitely a trade full of paying your dues. When you're passionate about it though, as you appear to be, sometimes the lower pay is worth being able to do what you love in hopes that it will pay off in the long run. "Making a living" cancels itself out when your misery at making the extra buck sucks the life out of you.

Back on topic, machinist by trade.

My legs are good to stand on..I have never opened a transformer board or thread..I've said That I don't get into transformers on "look what I got" or something..but I don't open. "Just got Bumble Bee" threads. ;)

I have some experience working on Mazak (sp) CNC machines..have you ever used one..pretty sweet machine.

Dude! if your close to graduating you should check out my work. Organogenesis.com. It's in Canton so you would have an easy commute South. We are building a second manufacturing building accross the street and have 4 buildings on the block. We will def need more Facilities people. Plus if you use me as a referance and get hired I get $ after 3 months. :)

That's actually what I really do.

..and in a few more years I think I'll be so burnt out that I might just walk away and live on piña coladas in the rain.

boombatty 10-27-2011 06:49 AM

I own and run an IT Security company (IDMWorks.com plug here). So all you network admins, if you know a little Java, hit me up, I am hiring like mad.

Optimus Vader 10-27-2011 06:57 AM

I make love in elevators.

Yeah man! I have a lil pull with facilities. We can make something happen, get your foot in the door. I got my girlfriend a job 3 months ago. Luckily its on the other side of the building and I only see her for lunch. :)

I'm a freelance recording engineer/video editor. Work in TV production and some radio. Pretty exiting at times. It's always different everyday. Hours are crazy and unpredictable though. I'm fortunate to have a very understanding wife.

Fedup23 10-27-2011 08:06 AM

My brother does this^^ in the detroit area...but the industry is pretty dead here now..how's this doing in Florida?

Jason Abbadon 10-27-2011 08:08 AM

I'm a troubleshoooter. When there's trouble, I shoot it.

Siemens bought UG and that why it's called NX now.

It's pretty good for me but it can fluctuate. We had Rock of Ages and Magic City shooting down here so it has kept us busy.

Yeah, some days I feel concise, other days I feel long winded, and yet even other days my brains just drawing blanks on the right word to make it concise. xD

That's the reason I like the landscaping gig though when the weather permits. Manual labor, well one pays well, but two, it lets you think and just come up with all sorts of stuff in your head while doing tasks.
