right, yeah that was only the best selling 2099 series, where do you get your info man?

I went to my Local Comic Shop to pick up the most recent issue and the comic book guy informed me the entire 2099 line was cancelled several years ago.

Doom 2099 Annual Sales Figures

I did a little research you may find interesting.

Also, Spiderman 2099 was the best selling 2099 title.

perhaps the sales figures point to spiderman 2099 as the best selling so let me rephrase,Doom 2099 was by far the most liked of the 2099 titles, hands down,or do you have a chart for that as well?also your comment of how you went to the comic shop to get the most recent issue and he informed you it was cancelled "several" years ago post is what I was questioning being the series was cancelled in the 90's and it is 2011,several refers to 3 to perhaps 5 or so yrs imo,not over a decade.

bmorr 11-30-2011 12:55 PM

if doom somehow became a kid loki type clone, i guarantee that would sell like hotcakes. people LOVE journey into mystery.

well from what I saw of the now cancelled Victor Von Doom series he was younger and had to journey into hell to save his mother.

How would you know this? Isnt this more of an opinion? Id think sales figures would determine more so what was the most liked title.

I am going on the fact that anyone I have ran into that is into the 2099 series liked Doom 2099 the best,I can do a poll if you would like to prove me right? ;)

bmorr 11-30-2011 01:25 PM

TBH, ive never really even heard about this series. I personally would have overlooked it considering the plot. There was also the osborn mini where the whole shibang ties into the avengers books and bendis reeealy wanted us to care. got the jist within like 2 pages in avengers so glad i saved my money.

im biting ny nails about the avengers academy title

now marvel has zero titles with female leads. thanks disney......

Heroes for Hire is still ongoing- that's got Misty Knight as the lead.
Then there's X-Men- I'm pretty sure Cyclops has a vagina.;)

Look, Marvel does this hit all the time- they hose fans even in the middle of a miniseries and cancel it- like new Universal or Iron Man Viva Las Vegas- both canned after several issues...and no plans to ever finish them.

And NO, IT"S NOT DISNEY. Marvel has screwed fans for several years now- great books get canned or great stories (like Annihilators) get assigned shitty artists that seem designed to make a book fail.

No one I know understands anthing marvel does anymore- including the two comic book store owners I know!

Worst is Marvel's greed policy- they KEEP RAISING THE PRICES!
Now everything is going to be $4 a title and half of Marvel's ongoings will tank bigtime- instead of being smart and following DC's lead with $3 books, they'll shlock out more Wolverine or Spider man nonsense- completely ignoring what fans want to see.

Somehow Marvel cant understand that they'll make more money by selling a million $3 comics than 500K $4 comics.

And so DC's relaunch is FAR outselling marvel's idiotic and endless Fear Itself epilogue crap- those FI titles will go through ALL OF NEXT YEAR!
Then there's content- Marvel's books only have 20 PAGES of content for FOUR DOLLARS. They took out two whole pages so they could cram in unwanted previews in every freakin' book.

W.T.F. Marvel?!?

Tiberius 11-30-2011 02:55 PM

I DOWLOADED all of Fear Itself and couldn't finish it, it was god awful. I bought Fantastic Four 600 also, and it was ok, but it feels rushed. Now I, Vampire with DC, amazing.

D00MTR0N 11-30-2011 02:59 PM

so maybe it not marvel losing money but marvel being Dbags?

Tiberius 11-30-2011 03:00 PM

Well as I said in a previous post, I don't thnik they are losng money, I just think they aren't making enough to satisfy themselves.

or their fans obviously.

Spacemafia 11-30-2011 03:28 PM

Maybe they just didnt think the title would sell.......

@Tiberus

The Flight have never had that great of luck.....The first series was good but only because John Byrne wrote and drew it....He left and it went downhill....the Jim Lee drawn issues were ok....

I was collecting the 2099 series, almost all of them. Yes Doom was good with X-Men and Spider-Man. Miguel O'Hara was pretty cool. Ghost Rider 2099 was ok though, they also had Hulk 2099 but that one was one of the first to get cancelled I believe.

Agreed sad about Marvel. Although I could never get into DC though, so remain a Marvel loyalist, glad I only get just X-Titles now.

Too true and I think Storm is leading the Astonishing team. But a bit different when it's not a stand alone book.

Also some posts back, I think I left off Elektra as well being a stand alone female having her own book.

bmorr 11-30-2011 04:49 PM

elektra had her own title recently????ech, shes good enough on heroes for hire anyways, and you all should be reading it. they did service for bringing back stilt man.

Not recently, I think 5-7 years ago when there were a lot of female books on their own.

Is she one of the main characters in that book? Was tempted to pick it up, but it tied in with Fear Itself and I think Spider-Island so didn't think it was worth it.

Dude it was.....

Its ok man its not the end of the world.....truth is you dont know what the reason was...

Maybe we never will. I get Doom is your thing and thats cool, but they had a reason for doing it.

Yes the whole Fear Itself should be cancelled, but they are running the company not us.....

I dont agree with DC Rebooting EVERYTHING and trying to say there were like 4-5 robins in 5 years???? Thats crazy....
