The Quinjet comes with the only Avenger that does not need it to get around- he's even flying alongside the thing on the box- possibly wondering how it's flying itself.

Did not know that, thanks for the response. Any idea if either one will be available within the first two waves? If past experience with these Marvel movie toy lines has taught me anything, it's that I'll be lucky to ever see anything beyond the second wave, and maybe not even all of it's assortment.

no idea when those figures will be out but yeah man, even that carded shot of an unmasked steve rogers has me flashbacking to those shots of black widow, unmasked stark, and unmasked rhodey. i don't think i'll ever not be miffed about that.

Yeah...but none of those figs looked particularly good.
That alternate BW is pretty crappy- a Lady Jaye head with blonde hair would be waaay better.

I'm really suprised Hasbro does not reuse the occasional Joe head for MU.
Maybe a liscensing thing

ah yeah, but it wasn't so much that any of those figures looked good or not but just that i totally wanted them when they were shown. at the time i thought those 3 figures would be the only toys i'd buy from the line but they ended up unreleased. in retrospect, the level of articulation and sculpt they had are still technically better than the avengers line. though that rogers head does look decent.

I think that was a perfect description of why the person in charge of marketing this thing should stop smoking crack.

edit: Stark controls it from his suit? Why the fuck would he do that if no one is in it?

behindthemask 01-27-2012 12:25 AM

the thor and cap figures actually look decent 2 me, both versions of hawkeye I'll probably snag, helmeted loki and hulk I'll grab, most of the IM figures look blah, so probably pass, ps the 4pack of samuel l jackson,im and 2 drones is on sale for $20 on tru.

The Invisible Woman uses it to go home after Tony nails her?
The Ghost steals it to stick it to the corperate overlords of the MU?
Jarvis forcibly joins the team by possessig the jet?
Tony farted in it and had to get the hell out of there?!?

heres the 4 inch one...

You mean the person in charge of marketing should not realize and recognize that Iron Man is the most popular and recognizable of the Avengers cast at this point?

Vehicle drivers are nearly always cheap repaints/kitbashes regardless of the line. If it wasn't Iron Man, it'd be Captain America, or Thor. They're not going to give us a high-quality "new" Hawkeye or Black Widow as a vehicle pack-in when they can sell them to us for $10.99 on a single-card.

All the vehicle drivers have been crap, that's why I just ignore them. And yes, it makes no sense for Iron Man to have a jet, or an ATV, or a motorcycle, or a HumVee. However most preteen kids (who are the primary target audience for this stuff no matter what we adult collectors might think) tend to care a lot less about that kind of stuff than we do.

Personally? My biggest disappointment is the size. I think they could have forgone the 3 foot glorified display stand that is the Helicarrier, and just focused on making a bigger Quinjet that could actually fit most or all of the team inside. The Quinjet is a transport, not a jet fighter....

I imagine that is EXACTLY why. Marvel probably owns the property rights to the figure faces and in general the bodies. I guess Nick Fury was so generic a body that it wasn't an issue. There seems to occasionally be some egos at play between the lines too - TF doesn't like crossing over with Joes at all. They even created a smaller less articulated figure to put in their TF movie vehicles, which makes no sense as they would have been quite popular if they had been scaled such that 4" figures would fit in. SW design guys resist changing their articulation to fit in with the other figures - this might be due to fans not wanting change. Even MU figures aren't the same in construction as GI Joe - similar but not the same. So, if Hasbro can't even get all the lines to use the same construction, to encourage crossing over for the sake of sales much less fan desires, I doubt the lines are asking to borrow heads either. I can almost hear the sculptors telling them to make their own sculpt!

For a company that is raising the prices due to production costs, better management seems like it would encourage more cooperation between the lines. I'm all for new body parts and new head sculpts, but how much MU might have benefitted from a different female legs from time to time, and how much the Joe line might benefit from a SW head.

Not a bad looking figure. Looks like it's essentially just a scaled down version of the Legends figure. Only major difference, that I can see, is the bow lacking a string. What Iron Man figure is that?

Interesting. I like the look of the costume for this version of him. However I have to be honest, I'm not a fan of the crossbow.

Reaver Strike 01-27-2012 07:47 AM

The ultimate version of Hawkeye is available for preorder from TRU.

They must have added it since last night. I would pre-order it, but I want to wait to see it in-person.

Reaver Strike 01-27-2012 08:07 AM

Same here. I'm tempted but $11.99 is pricey for these and I know I will find him in store.

Optimus Vader 01-27-2012 08:23 AM

The movie Hawkeye figure looks the best of the 3.75" stuff I've seen images of so far. That Ultimate Thor they have up for preorder looks like shit. I'll just grab these at retail rather than paying shipping.

I'm so glad I only go for the Comic series, my wallet thanks me!

If they made that in the Comic/MU line, I would grab it, looks good.

tlasjr 01-27-2012 10:34 AM

So if I hear it right there are two IM figures, the one thats labelled "concept" has the triangle chest piece seen in the trailer. The movie version has the round piece from that last we heard was poisonous?
Oh and the problem with the marketing point jmacq1 brought up is they're trying to sell the brand as well as the item.
show tony flying next to it and one of the others flying it. Sell additional figures to recreate the scene pictured.
Has the QJ been seen on shelf yet? Whats the price point?

warmachine6 01-27-2012 11:28 AM

hmm no sign of 6inch figures yet :( praying they come out asap

According to TRU's website, it's $34.99. Which I imagine will be the same for other stores, since none of the other TRU listings seem to be marked up from the usual.

Yup. And a stealth concept repaint of the triangle armor which is the black one above. There's also a repaint of the mk V with a glider pack for the deluxe series too, and the exo-suit IM figure plus the QJ one too.

So in all, 6 ironman figures right off the bat in 3.75'' scale.

You realize though that it is TRU Canada in Canadian $ right?
Maybe the Canadians here can answer this question. Does TRU there also have higher prices than the other retailers?

Yes, either by a whole Dollar, or a few cents. Example:

MU Figures at Walmart: 9.92.
MU Figures at TRU: 9.99.
MU Figures at Zellers: 11.99.
