Estimated price revealed in this week's newsletter. About $490 which is pretty spot on with what we were all thinking. Glad to hear that they aren't thinking of much higher than that. But wondering how much that price could change...

More Rex updates, he goes on sale March 2nd (2012) and they have pics of the final painted product...

ThreeA Production Blog » MGS _ REX ONSALE 2ND MARCH- The World's Coolest Toy Company

Ah, already posted this about 3 days ago on this thread: 3A Toys Metal Gear Rex - Toy Discussion at Toyark.com

Guess I hit up the wrong one... :)

Anyway, I pretty much have enough to purchase Rex, so I'd really like to get some advice from any of you ThreeA vets on how to go about buying him off Bambaland. This will be my first 3A toy, so I've never bought anything from the site before.

I've been reading stuff about cartjacking, quick sell-outs and all that, so I'm pretty nervous - I really wanna bag this amazing toy!! On the other hand, I hear the Rexes are made to order - if that's actually true then I'd need not fret over a sellout right?

Anything would be greatly appreciated!!! :D

Oops, my bad.

Deefuzz 02-28-2012 09:05 AM

Merged the Rex threads so we can keep all of the posts in one spot.

Will work on frontpage story when the Rex specific newsletter goes out this week.

behindthemask 02-28-2012 09:40 AM

this figure is available on order on bambaland.com it's like $550.

Kazuhira 03-02-2012 04:19 AM

ORDERED MY REX! Btw its $490.

sabretoothe 03-03-2012 09:43 AM

if i only had an extra $1000 i would get two, one trick out to the rex from mgs4 and one to stay stock.

Noisemaze 03-04-2012 02:27 PM

It's kinda lame actually. Definitely not one of the better mech designs out there. I'm obsessed with robots & mechs but this one is really lame.

Runamuck 03-05-2012 10:14 AM

Not that I actually had the money, but I'm late to the game as always. lol Seeing that one pic of someone holding it, it definitely looks large enough for 1:18 scale.

Definitely want this but I don't think I'll ever be able to justify the spending.

Deefuzz 03-08-2012 08:45 AM

Very cool that they are offering at the same price as Bambaland.

I'm frightened to know what they will be charging to ship the thing though.

GMANIFESS 03-08-2012 08:54 AM

Friday MARCH 8TH?

What part is the typo? Today is the 8th. Friday is the 9th.

pud333 03-08-2012 10:16 AM

This looks really cool. Can it sit up at all? Or does it just sit back all the time? The pictures don't indicate it can sit up...

I wouldn't expect it to be anything astronomical. Sideshow is probably one of the best dealers of statues that I've seen with fair shipping prices.

So what time of day do the pre-orders usually go up?

Harbinger 03-08-2012 09:48 PM

if this thing could hold a gi joe in the cockpit i may consider this thing!

At 14" tall, the mouth cockpit opens, looks like it's big enough for a 3.75" figure to fit inside.
Personally i'm looking forward to see it on the shelf with my 1/48 Macross valkyries. They need more ground support since there are no destroids in that scale.... :(

Hobby Link Japan just put up their preorders. Still waiting to see what's going on with Sideshow.

I was looking forward to being able to stick Joes in there as well, but they list Rex as a 1/48 scale figure and LEGO minifigures (if I'm not mistaken) are also in 1/48 scale, so I'm doubtful that I'll be able do the former. And that's gonna be one tiny Snake if that's the case....

*SIGH*

Well, that's the weird thing. Usually new pre-orders go up on Thursday to coincide with the newsletter. But according to the newsletter, they're putting these up today. So, I can't really give an estimate as to when they'll go up. I guess it's one of those keep hitting F5 all day. lol I'd guess it would be in the late afternoon-evening time.

Well it obvviously won't be accurate 1/18 Gi Joe/Star Wars scale. Because then it would be 4ft to 5ft tall. But this thing will be almost as tall as the Hasbro AT-AT & much more mass. Plus the mouth opens to what looks like a cockpit which looks like more then enough room for a Joe figure.

I'm not metal gear fan, but im a big military mecha fan so this is a must have.
