I'll be there with my brother who is not at all a toy collector. He's on his first trip outside of Washington in his lifetime, so I'd feel really bad ditching him, so there's a fine line of balance I'll be trying to walk. Still, although I'm new-ish to Toyark, it would be cool to meet other people from the boards. Especially Marvel collectors, because I'm a nuts Marvel collector. |

This would also be a contingency plan if you or others are unsuccessful with Hasbro line on Wed and Thursday. Quote:

I think he spaced on the comic con date.
I really think preview night won't have that bs time slot ticket line but we'll see. The time slot ticket line is usually upstairs in the main room where you end up picking up your comic con tickets anyway. |
I'd do anything not to have to do that first line. I heard last year it was the same (no pre-line on Wednesday). I was lucky last year. I used my Marvel badge as leverage to skip the line. No such luck this year going on my own dime, lol.

Yeah Symbiote politely called me a dumb ass through a txt message for spacing on the date of this year's con. It was in the 3rd week of July for a few years or at least last year so I just assumed it was this year to as a force of habit.
Good news for me as SDCC 2012 can't come soon enough! |

This year I've got a press badge, so I imagine I'm picking up mine in the same place you're describing at 4 pm Wed. We get out there on Monday to settle in and enjoy San Diego since we miss it so much. We'll be ready to con on Wednesday for sure! Quote:
Bummer about no more Marvel badge, but it's not bad to go on a regular ticket. Makes you feel like you can do more of what YOU want to do rather than rep the company. |
Yup I was in the hasbro line on that thursday and it took me around 6 hrs all together. When I got to the actual hasbro stand line, they fell behind on the time slot tickets so noon time tickets turned into 2 pm tickets. I thought it was bs and I just hung around until they finally let me in.

Also, if there is any walking dead fans I'll be doing this walking dead event on sat. The time slot I picked is at 2pm. $70-80 to do it. Its going to be held at petco park. No offense taken if no one is interested. I'm just putting it out there.

I'll be at SDCC this year. Haven't figured out what the plans are...I hope to see some arkers there. This is my first time so I hope to get the exclusives.
|
@solid - This will be my fourth consecutive year. If you have specific questions or want advice PM me, I'm happy to help...that goes for the rest of my 'ark brethren.
If you have preview night badges (I don't this year, unfortunately) you're looking at a 2-3 hour wait at the Hasbro booth since everyone wants to get purchases out of the way early. Thursday through Saturday you have to go upstairs to the Sales pavilion in the am to get a pass/wristband with a time slot. You can then line up at the booth at or after your time slot. If it's full they may tell you to come back at a later time (total time can be 6+ hours). Sunday is like Wednesday (no Sales pavilion step) but it's scraps. Matty is similar but everyone just pre-orders online then picks them up at an adjacent hotel. Graphitti usually has a ticket pull but if you're lucky and get one, you just show up at the booth at the scheduled time and get your stuff (i.e. no booth queu). Mezco, NECA, Entertainment Earth, BBP, etc. are super easy. Just show up, short booth line, get your stuff, donezo! Hope that helps! |

My wife and I went from nothing but comics and toys one year, to nothing but panels, to nothing but meet & greets, LOL. |
I'm hoping there's enough time to buy on preview night and still look at Hasbro's booth/talk to the reps. I want to take a buttload of pictures of their displays this year.
|
Hey scottmurdock, so preview night has the ticket pickup at 3 pm. I was planning on taking off from work around 2. Do you think I should get there earlier? I kinda want to get the hasbro exclusives shopping done early and out of the way.
Solid wii, you should totally meet up with us if you can. What days are you going? |
If preview night doesn't work out and I have to stand in line for exclusives elsewhen, I'm definitely getting to the con at least an hour (probably 2) to get in line to get in to get in line to get my ticket to get in line.

Does anyone know where Registered Professionals will pick up badges this year? Last year we were able to walk into a special door around the middle of the convention building and there was a separate table there.
