i went to a target the other day that had 5 nova's. freaked me out since he was considered hard to find many months ago. would be nice if solid vision received the same treatment.

pffffffh. that'll never happen. color me surprised when that character shows up on the pegs. My theory is that Disney cancelled the fig cause they are a "conservative" company that doesnt want to market an openly gay character. They probably buried all the figs in the desert next to the unsold copies of E.T. for Atari.

And yet Mystique pretty much shags anything that moves and she got a figure?

dunno, maybe disney didnt have the control on the marvel properties back then.

edit:
they bought marvel entertainment in the summer of 2009.

I don't think thats the case, Disney likes us gays.

Disney has historically been a racist and sexist company.

fosterlager 02-24-2014 01:47 PM

Until Hasbro confirms Northstar is cancelled I'm opting to believe he's still on the way. As for Disney, they have Gay Days at their theme parks, Same-sex partner benefits and more:

5 Signs That Disney Has Supported Gay Rights For Over 2 Decades - PolicyMic

Captain Nash 02-24-2014 03:33 PM

Having Aurora without having Northstar seems like a cheap shot now. But then I guess I shouldn't be surprised, Hasbro has been full of tricks now for a long while.

And I don't think this has anything to do with the comic character he's of being gay. He's not marketed as "gay superhero" or "Captain Rainbow" or "Captain Gay Pride" he's marketed as Northstar (at least in the toyline...in the comics it's rather a prominent part of his personality nowadays).

A kid and their parents aren't going to think "gay" when they'd see him in the toy aisle - not that there's anything wrong to being gay anyways. But just from a marketing standpoint I don't see the issue.

Sorry if my comments offended anyone by seeming stereotypical. I take great pride in being part of said same community myself after all.

flipwilson 02-24-2014 04:26 PM

Straight, gay, who cares? we're all toy geeks. If hasbro botches this final wave and we don't get Northstar, I at least can hope for him showing up in the new marvel black series or whatever it's called.

samsson37 02-24-2014 04:32 PM

Yes give us NorthStar and I have to say it,.....ALONG WITH THE EXECUTIONER, VALKYRIE AND ANTMAN DAMN IT !!!!!!! That would be a set to die for, hell even throw in IronMans Martha Stewart 2.0 armor and I'll buy a whole set !!!! smh

That sounds plausible until you think about the fact that they just made a huge deal about and did press releases promoting their gay-marriage issue with Northstar and his boyfriend, and Marvel is publishing more and more stories with characters who are bi or gay all the time.

Its probably something much less mustache twirling than Disney hates the gays. :p Probably something boring like production timing while translating the line to Marvel Infinite, or deciding to hold him back for a SDCC Alpha Flight 3 pack that could be 1/3 completed and ahead of the game by doing so.

But the "Disney doesnt want to market gay characters" does sound more exciting and scandalous!

That damn E.T. game did sucked ass .. the only other bigger disappointment was when I rushed home with Atari 2600 Pac-Man..you want to see a 13 year old nerd rage? ... get a time machine and set it for my house, 1982.

snake5289 02-24-2014 05:58 PM

If you haven't already watch Conan O'Brien play Atari games including E.T. It's freaking hilarious.

ukmu 02-24-2014 06:30 PM

Good old Walt was a financial backer of the Third Reich though...
Never mind NorthStar being gay, I think it is because he is Canadian.

ukmu 02-24-2014 06:31 PM

Don't don't know know why why it it double double posted posted

rea1180 02-24-2014 07:10 PM

I wish I had your guy's problem. Northstar? I'm still waiting on Prof X and seen nothing Mysterio and beyond.

I'm pretty sure Nazi Walt/Anti-Semite Walt was confirmed to be a dumb old urban legend.

Yeah Washington blows hard when it comes to distribution. If you're not willing to drive all over you're SOL.

kylactus 02-24-2014 07:38 PM

I don't really think Disney has an ulterior motive with the crap timing of North star, they made Doc Samson, or Sampson? and he's a Jew, and Ghost rider, and his religious connotation is questionable at best. and as far as the sex lives of any number of the MU characters, well I'd argue you aren't going to see any of that in a Disney movie any time soon. But that said, if a, shall we say "vocal" member of the gay community were to get "outraged" by this perceived slight and point it out to some media source, it could improve our odds of completing Alpha Flight. and maybe we'd score a Shatterstar and Rictor 2 pack as reparations. just saying....

bmorr 02-24-2014 07:39 PM

gay stuff aside, i still dont have a northstar on my display shelf.

kylactus 02-24-2014 07:47 PM

ya know thinking about it now, were really low on black dudes too, Luke cage is the only one (who doesn't have every inch of skin costumed), and why is he wearing a tank top and not his modern costume? he's the only MU fig out of uniform... weird, maybe Disney is racist? anyway all this is to say I want a damn 90's Bishop dam it!

Not sure if joking, or overthinking it wayyyyy too much.

(What about Blade, Cloak, Goliath, and Falcon? And Storm for the ladies. Plus the auxiliary lines.)

Yes it does. Even if you drive all over you usually come home empty handed or settle for stuff you weren't looking for. Browsing on the east side of the state or in Oregon is always way better. I saw 1 mysterio at retail and 1 Omega Red wave, that was it. I also think MU is insanely popular here and the new figures fly off the shelves the day they are put out.

to be fair, he was based off his appearance in the ealry new avengers books. He didnt get a real uniform again until his stint in the thunderbolts.

kylactus 02-25-2014 08:24 AM

damn, under thought it! all that aside, yes I am joking, and yes I want a Bishop figure badly, and if they give us a "modern" bald one armed version I'll blow a gasket, I want some mullet!

Ninjinister 02-25-2014 08:36 AM

Just musing a bit here on the current train of thought, how many Asians are in MU proper? Sunfire, Daken, Silver Samurai, Psylocke (in-body), Radioactive Man and... maybe Colossus/Black Widow/Omega Red/Rhino, if you want to count Russia? Hand Ninja?

All aside, I don't think the line's done too terrible in minority representation considering that comics were an all-blanco club for decades.

EDIT: Forgot Jubs as an Asian-American entry to the series. Derp.
