I can tell you thi Doomsday will not make Tuesday and if it does sold out in 15 mins

Ravenxl7 08-02-2014 09:52 AM

Is the containment suit that popular? I was under the impression that most people would want an unleashed Doomsday or nothing. Honestly, he just looks like Bane in a hazmat suit to me...

Personally, I think the Asylum/City figures look a little small headed. Origins and Knight look fine to me, though I prefer the AK style of armor.

I can assure you it is not Bane in a containment suite. Aside from a few minor issues this is a solid figure easily the Best Mattel has put out in 2 years

Iceman 08-02-2014 01:35 PM

Aren't people always complaining that movies tell us the origin story of characters like Superman and Spider-Man over and over when we already know it. I don't think Superman needs another movie to stretch his legs as we all know what he's about. It's still possible that Wonder Woman and the other JLA members cast for this movie aren't even going to be in it long. Maybe they show up late as part of a cliffhanger and the JLA movie fleshes them out.

Is it? I've cursed plenty here and never heard word one from any mods.

A lot of posters here swear a fair bit in real life; however, you never know how old the next person to read your post is going to be. So try to keep the amount of swearing you use in posts to a minimum.
We're just supposed to be respect to others, not question the mods (EVER!), and not swear every third word. Let's face it, the traffic to this site is adult collectors. Swearing has always happened here. As long as it's not mean spirited and directed at other members then it's fair game.

At least on this board opinions aren't silenced... At Mattels if you don't kiss their butts and like it they and say how wonderful it is to do it they toss you.

Never been to Mattel's so I can't say. Sure, this site will let you post opinions about any toys but asking questions about this site itself is a grey area and has gotten people tossed. It's actually right there in the rules.

En Sabah Nerd 08-02-2014 04:30 PM

I've got a question, should I get the Arkham origins Bane or the Arkham asylum two-pack with Bane and Batman? I like both designs well enough, though I prefer the look of origins, but I'm not sure if the pose trade-off is worth it. Advice?

Tiberius 08-02-2014 07:20 PM

Pics mang, pics.

or is this one better?

asking strictly about the Bane figures. Which one do you guys prefer/recommend? Both are around the same 8" size (with the asylum design being wider) and I like each design aesthetically. My question is which one as a toy is better, not the Batman, JUST Bane, which one has better pose, detail, presence, etc.?
If you weren't asking me for pics, but someone else, sorry for stealing your thunder.

As someone who used to own the original Akrham Asylum Bane (without leg articulation) and still has AO Bane, I'll say this:

Asylum Bane looks really damn impressive on the shelf next to other characters, and that second version in the 2 pack is even taller thanks to the new poseable legs. The proportions make him unique even among other "big guy" characters like Hulk and Juggernaut. I've never been a fan of any version of Bane that is used strictly as a big mindless brute, though.

AO Bane has the more realistic proportions and a militaristic look which I prefer. It isn't perfect, though. His arms have always looked slightly too short to me, and the sculpt at the elbow looks kind of ugly due to the way they did the articulation. He also really isn't that much more poseable than Asylum/City Bane, but as I said, this is closer to my ideal version of the character.

I'll also say that the improved Asylum Bane, while having the upgraded legs, loses points to me because of the new headsculpt. The original had this snarling open-mouth expression with really wide, crazed eyes, and the paintwork on his teeth was amazingly detailed. It made him look pretty fearsome, but the new version doesn't have that - so I think AO Bane wins out as far as details go.

Not sure if it'll help or not, but those are my thoughts on the different Arkham Bane toys.

TheBlueMarvel 08-02-2014 11:12 PM

Poison Shadow:

Maybe the AO Bane's arms seem short because his head is so small? I know that when illustrating a proportional human figure, the height is supposed to be roughly 8 "heads" tall. I know Bane isn't exactly proportional, especially after using his secret sauce...but using that small noggin, he looks to be at least 12 or 13 "heads" tall....could be the angle of the pic.

En Sabah:

I'd go for the two-for-one....

Any words help. I slightly pardon the thoughtless brute approach from Arkham Asylum since he stated to have been drained of venom for a good while and then pumped full in an instant, causing roid-rage. I liked that in Arkham City he was still as big, but now able to express himself and produce clear thought, even if he was cartoonishly predictable as a villain. I also agree that his take in Arkham Origins was my favorite of the games, but the figure does seem less, if only to a degree.

Thanks for the input, I think I'll get the two pack. The Bane is a little better to me than the Origins figure and not having a Batman yet also leans in the pack's favor.

Tiberius 08-03-2014 03:13 AM

100% second picture of Bane.

I do. They need to have him establish himself as Superman. Figure out how he wants to go about being this super hero. Introduce us to his life as Clark Kent the employee for the Daily Planet. Introduce Lex into this universe, who is the one helping to rebuild Metropolis. Introduce other characters from the Superman universe like Blipo and Jimmy along with bringing petty thieves like John Corbin to set things up for the future. You know, world build on Superman.

THEN they can give us a Superman/Batman movie. Right now, they are rushing it. But then, DC doesn't really give two crapholes about their movies, they just want the profits from it.

It does not matter though, they do not need to be in this. And we shouldn't have a movie that leaves off TBC, we should have a movie that tells a complete story. I'm tired of movies not telling a full story because they want you to go see the sequel. TASM2 is the perfect example of why that does NOT work.

Anyway, I hope Guardians shows to DC that you can take any comic character whether they are well known or not, and if you have the writing to back it up, people will go see it regardless.

Iceman 08-03-2014 09:25 AM

Everyone is entitled to their opinions I suppose. I will agree that ASM2 was a cluster.

If they do not do it now they will fall further behind and eventually when the Superhero Movie time ends it could be too late. In Truth I fully agree they should establish Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman before they Jump to the Justice League. The Avengers didn't we got the build up Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, with Avengers 2 next Summer, Captain America 3 2016, Thor 3 (N/A) and Avenger 3 in 3 years

That could very well be it. It isn't a big problem, just a very minor thought of "Something isn't quite right..." when you look at him.

I've been considering trying to get a Mattel CnC Bane head and swap it for the origins one, but I have no idea how big it is in comparison.

TheBlueMarvel 08-03-2014 05:05 PM

Poison Shadow:

I didn't mean to point it out as an imperfection, just an observation. AA Bane's head is also small, but that sculpt appeared to be shooting for an intentional exaggeration. The AO Bane presents as a more realistic take on the character, so the small head stood out a bit more.....

En Sabah Nerd 08-03-2014 06:05 PM

Does anyone else also think that Arkham Knight Batman's head looks too small? It could the angle of all the pictures or that it's just a prototype, but it is slightly off putting. My dislike of the Origins Bane comes more so from his pose limitations, he has a good amount of pose, but his armor and tubes hinder it severely. As someone on Youtube put it: he's always in a "are you not entertained!" pose.

CMIII 08-03-2014 06:39 PM

I have to say the 2nd Bane is better the first looks like Bane is Popeye's son and ate way too much spinach. Honestly the best Bane in my opinion is the DCUC Bane he's not overly supercharged

Sorry if I'm showing that I'm not entirely into collecting DC, but what is DCUC? Is it DC universe classics?

Update: please show pictures of the figure you refer to, thanks.

TheBlueMarvel 08-03-2014 07:19 PM

En Sabah:

It does, but his head was pretty small (in comparison to his shoulders) in the game. If you didn't like the art direction of the game, you may not want to go the AA route...

Man, you are having a tough time deciding on this! LOL Maybe you shouldn't read anymore opinions...
