I bet we get another Ghost Rider eventually... the old one is selling for 150 MIB I think, so it is about time Hasbro releases another version to bring the prices down of the old one. Let's hope Ghost Rider doesn't get his own Disney+ show though or else we would probably be getting a D+ version instead of another comic version.

I hope you're right, I've eyed both of the Blaze GRs for awhile now, but I just can't justify the cost for a "close enough to what I want" character.

StuartGreen2019 05-08-2022 07:30 PM

First of all, R.I.P. George Perez. Man, this loss really stings. There will never be as great or iconic of a present-day comic book artist to me than him.

Second of all, to all the Moms out there, Happy Mothers Day!

Third of all, I am not 100% sold on the Doom and Gloom scenario and "The End is NIGH!" for Marvel Legends. At least, not right now. I also don't see comic book figures being permanently replaced by M.C.U. figures, since Marvel's movies and TV series are not only constantly shrouded in secrecy during production (and heck, even in the trailers!), but release dates are almost always pushed back. You need something to fill the void and comic figures, especially with Spider-Man and X-Men, can always be profitable enough to fill those slots. Classic Spidey figures of heroes, villains and supporting characters and any X-Men figures from the '70s up till the Jim Lee '90s era always sell out and there are plenty of alternate costumes and more modern characters and teams fans are waiting to see made to include in their collections.

The main problem is waiting for them to make (name of character) into a figure and finding out whether they'll be an exclusive to a single website and/or store or not. It also doesn't help that said exclusive(s) are hard to find, ridiculously overpriced, sell out way too quickly, or all of the above. Since the reveals this year for Marvel Legends have been surprisingly underwhelming, I'm hoping that we'll see some good reveals this summer and especially better figures planned for 2023 and beyond. I really, REALLY want Hasbro to make Marvel Legends anniversary plans for the likes of the Avengers, the X-Men and Daredevil on the comic book side and 2024 plans for other major events like the 40th anniversary of "Secret Wars" (which would be a great way to give us figures for characters like Captain Marvel, Titania, the Absorbing Man, Hawkeye and more) and the 30th anniversary of "Spider-Man: The Animated Series". Seeing Marvel skip 80th anniversary plans for Captain America last year and apparently skipping 60th anniversary plans for A-listers like Hulk and Thor still have me scratching my head.

TheBlueMarvel 05-08-2022 08:27 PM

Most of us didn't think the line would end in 2009 either.

Sataninjaku 05-08-2022 08:45 PM

@ StuartGreen2019-

I wouldn't say I exactly buy into it either, but I am keeping my ear to the ground. After all, I'm a Joe guy first and foremost, and over the years, I've become convinced that "Yo Joe" isn't really the battle cry of most Joe fans; "Death of the line!!!!" is. In fact, there are many over on Hisstank saying that very thing about Classified right now. The same Classified that consistently sells out the instant it's put out (barring like four figures), rising prices be damned.

I have to admit though, the whole Target thing being reported directly after yet another price hike really isn't something that instills confidence. Do I really think they'll pull the plug after such a good run? No, not really. Not yet, anyway. Especially given the broader appeal Marvel has over something like G.I. Joe. Double-especially because it's a Disney property. I mean, look at how long they put up with Landos on pegs. But... if they did, I can't say I'd be shocked, either. If they've in fact lost Target as an outlet, that would be a crushing blow to the future success of the line. We are not enough to support this line on our own. I've seen quite a few lines that appeared to be all but unsinkable go the way of the dinosaur in my time. Hope for the best and expect the worst, as they say.

Starlord67 05-08-2022 08:50 PM

George Perez'S death is a considerable loss to the comic art world. He was so very gifted and everything he touched was GOLD! I never met him but have heard stories of what a sweet guy he was. No one draws Avengers like he does! I love John Byrne...but Perez was so very gifted.

As for figures we need ....yes Longshot,Spiral and Mojo top my list as well...so does Banshee and Outback PSYLOCKE.

As for the line ending...I can see it scaled back but not ending quite yet. I think we have a couple more years left but the price hike is gonna hurt the line. I'm sorry to say I will be stepping back from buying non essential characters...and mainly X-Men characters from now on.

Goddamn. Losing both Neal Adams and George Perez so close together really stings. RIP to two legends.

Thus far there's been nothing to indicate it, no.

Sadly, when Perez announced his cancer situation last year I figured it was only a matter a time. I never got to meet the man, which is a shame because I loved his art, especially for the New Teen Titans.

StuartGreen2019 05-08-2022 09:56 PM

I get why people are saying the line could get cancelled. I really do, especially after all of the price hikes in recent years -- heck, in recent MONTHS. The plastic-free packaging is definitely going to turn off Mint In Box collectors who want to actually SEE what is in the box and those who want to see if it's in the box is not only good in terms of quality control, but to also to see if it's the correct item. I am keeping my ear to the ground too. I mean, who wouldn't at this point? I'm just not going to worry in the immediate future. I will worry later in the year or 2023. Right now, I have more important matters to worry about personally than figures.

If and when the time comes that the line ends abruptly, I would like to add the Jim Lee versions of Colossus, Cyclops (with an optic blast this time, please), Jean Grey (with better head sculpts, please) and Jubilee, classic versions of Magneto (sold separately, please), Mystique (that's not an exclusive), White Queen (that's sold separately), Avalanche, Blob, and Pyro (with brighter suit colors), two Wolverines (classic brown-and-tan and classic tiger-stripe), any version of Banshee (green-and-yellow uniform, blue-and-yellow uniform and/or Generation X uniform), any of the Outback X-Men (especially Longshot, Rogue, and black-and-yellow uniform Storm), any of Generation X (I'd at least take Jubilee, M, Chamber and Skin), George Perez versions of blue furry Beast and Safari Jacket Wonder Man, John Romita Sr. versions of Spider-Man, first appearance Mary Jane Watson and Doctor Octopus (a la "The Death of Captain Stacy" with the long-requested bendable wire tentacles - and not an exclusive this time, please), lab coat Bruce Banner, at least four Hulks (McFarlane grey Hulk, classic green savage Hulk with better hair, green Hulk with purple trunks and a Kirby-esque head sculpt, and Professor Hulk in his brown jumpsuit), Ringmaster, Tyrannus, Mole Man, Wizard, Trapster, orange-and-black suit Leader, two She-Hulks (Fantastic Four suit and purple and white '80s suit, respectively), neo-classic Iron Man, classic red costume Daredevil, Ditko versions of Chameleon and Sandman (on a bigger body mold), purple-and-blue suit Boomerang, classic Black Cat, classic versions of Spidey rogues like Vulture, Mysterio (with a Quentin Beck alternate head), Tarantula, the Rose, Carrion, Hydro-Man (with human arms this time), Hobgoblin (based on John Romita Jr's art with alternate heads), Venom, Carnage, Stunner and Kaine, white Armani suit Doc Ock with bendy wire tentacles, classic Falcon, classic red-and-black costume Wasp, black-and-red West Coast uniform Wonder Man, two Hawkeyes (classic uniform and early '90s West Coast uniform), a classic "scaly chainmail" Captain America with an alternate smiling head based on John Byrne's art and a shield without holes in it, classic Thor (that's easy to find this time, please), green-and-yellow uniform Loki with a yellow cape (bonus points if they use an alternate Classic Loki head from his appearance on Disney Plus' "Loki" series), classic Vision, Crystal, bomber jacket Firestar, Spiral, the U-Foes, classic Abomination, any of the 'X2' era looks for the X-Men characters (Wolverine, Storm, Jean Grey, cyclops, Magneto, Rogue, Nightcrawler, Deathstrike, Iceman, etc.) -- okay, I swear I'll stop it here, but you get the idea. I have a LOT of gaps in my collection I'd love to fill sooner than later. And since prices are still going up, sooner would be VERY much appreciated, please, Hasbro.

A few months ago, my friend tweeted something to Dan on the legends team noting that the 90's style Morbius figure would make a great Danny Ketch base. He basically replied saying that they have that in mind. Sooo...maybe?
Edit, it may have been on Instagram. I can't seem to find the post. I'll message my friend and see if he still has it.

Nimrod 05-09-2022 08:07 AM

The price hikes have pretty much been my "red line in the sand". $25+ or even $30 in some instances. Nah, With this inflation hike of the past yr thanks to incompetent govt, I now have to spend an extra $300 a month on gas plus another $250 on food, there goes my ML spending $ for the yr. I'll be cherry picking this line to the extreme for the rest of it's existence. Handful of must have comic based figs per yr. The Pulse BS game of selling out of Army builders before the general masses can get a shot at them has also soured me on this line. I just wanted 5-6 Skrull grunts, nope, no dice.

Folk on the Tank ENDLESSLY acting like they have insider knowledge into how Classified is dying has become so idiotic it's actually caused me to drift away. I get BEYOND bored of having and reading the same damn tautological discussion (I also get really board with the constant non-topics between waves). Here's the reality. Classified. Is. HEALTHY. The things Hasbro has planned for the line are incredible. As you said, it sells out instantly.

I pop back in every now and then. It seems like the exact same discussion is being had and in the middle of ANY said discussion there's the thread cancer that is Lice's Kitbashes. Jesus...just WOW. Sometimes I think that dude is just trolling to piss folk off. But in reality I thing he's just mentally ill. Hope he gets the help he needs.

^Lol glad to know there's some synchronicity to be found on these threads. I'm curious about this trolling personality though. Maybe we can arrange a team-up, or cross-over event? ;)

That could easily be arranged. The dude is kind of like Candyman. Though the summoning is a bit different. Visit ANY thread on HissTank and start discussing any new Classified figures you may like. He'll show up, post his 'bashes, claim that they are more creative than the figure you like (doesn't matter what it is). Once you disagree he'll proceed to vomit "sentences" riddled with, misspellings, atrocious grammar and egocentric narcissism of the highest order. You'll fail miserably to exercise the demon. You are even tempered and reasonable. Honest critique won't work to broaden a debate. It'll only deepen the divide. Like Candyman, once summoned he's damn near impossible to get rid of :D Have fun!

Lol this guy sounds great (familiar even :p), he'd fit in here real well! Oh, I don't try to exorcise demons. I fan their flames (to the chagrin of many ;)) into a raging conflagration with the intent to burn them out. This helps nothing, of course, but it does serve to stave off my boredom. I'm cautious about Classified having entered a GI Joe 12 step at the tender age of 14. I'd been clean for decades, until my most recent slippage. Maybe I'll slide over there if I can nab that Spirit fig your photos convinced me that I must own, again, just as in the dark days of my former Joe addiction. I think you also photographed your Storm Shadow (if I'm not confusing images/screen-names in my mind), which also revived a thirst long denied. The membrane is weakening!

For what it's worth, since I brought up Target in the first place, I don't really think the line is in any danger of being cancelled anytime soon, just that the situation with Target at the moment is a great example of how something like Legends can be easily here today but gone tomorrow, and therefore not something I take for granted.

But even if Target is out, you can still find Legends at Walmart, Amazon, Gamestop, various online retailers, and even Pulse itself. So for fans the hunt isn't over yet.

Also for what it's worth, I think Classified is doing great, and I trust the line will be around for years to come.
