Damn Commies.

Ninjinister 03-04-2014 02:45 PM

So I was thinking about all of the movie lines in this scale... which ones were your favorite, and least favorite?

For favorite I'd have to go with the first Cap line, and Avengers. They each had all of the major characters they'd need to make, plus a bunch of neat comic-based figures. Iron Man 2 is a close second, but the overabundance of pegwarming suits was kind of a turnoff. I never even saw 90% of the line in-stores. Still, it had a nice range of movie essentials and comic-based figs.

My least favorite at this time would have to be Amazing Spider-Man 2. While there were just Spidey and Lizard for the movie side in the original ASM line, at least we got a few neat Spidey variants (Ben Reilly Spidey, Manga Spidey) and comic versions of the original trilogy's villains. What is this line, two, maybe three Spideys and an Electro? And they're severely low on articulation but still cost a tenner 'cause they have some dumb gimmick?

Iron Man 3 also ranks up there and may actually be tied. We got no "proper" figures for this line... only the Socket Poppers and the cheap-ass low artic ones. Plus since they went with the assemblers, there's no secondary characters... just Iron Man, Iron Patriot, and War Machine (who doesn't even show up in this movie as that). No Mandarin, no Killian, no Extremis soldiers, no Pepper or Happy even. Shit, why do we still not have a Pepper at least? Since they went and gave us War Machine I would have at least accepted an Assembler Rescue. That's better than nothing.

The second Cap line doesn't look great either sadly. I like the sculpts, but we're getting Cap/Steve, Winter Soldier, Falcon, and Red Skull, who again, isn't even in this movie... but no Batroc, no Crossbones, no Widow, even though she's supposed to have a pretty big role here. Plus no comic-inspired subset either, which as indicated before, I really liked with the previous Cap line.

Plus Coulson's in over half of the films and now has his own TV show and we still don't have one of him. Freakin' insane.

fosterlager 03-04-2014 02:50 PM

Hot damn right we need a Coulson

ukmu 03-04-2014 03:22 PM

Coulson is now OFFICIALLY my number one most wanted factory figure. He wasn't before...but he is NOW. I thought of going the custom route for him...can get the parts easy enough. Thought even about buying him fully painted from a top of the line customizer for £20 shipped. Complete with a niffty little water slide decal ID badge with his picture. I digress.... I want a factory Agent Coulson though..... Maybe a S.H.I.E.L.D. set set at SDCC, who knows.

Ninjinister 03-04-2014 03:55 PM

I just remembered that the Hall of Armor is technically an IM3 figure set, and having properly articulated mark 42 and a Tony does give bonus points to that line, but the rest are just slightly redecoed IM2 figs. Still it does count for something, but the bottom line is the line still has zero figures that aren't Stark or Rhodes.

Coulson's lack of a figure is a bizarre oversight. I mean there's not even a six-inch figure of him. All I know of are the super-expensive Hot Toys version (which I would so totally buy if I had the money/space, but smaller amounts of those two factors are main reasons why I collect THIS scale), and some niche stuff like chibis, minimates, and Heroclix. Nothing in the proper go-into-the-store-and-buy-off-the-peg kind of thing.

samsson37 03-04-2014 04:50 PM

Its true now that Ive given it some real thought it is bizarre how much we see him that there isn't a coulsen figure. he's on every kid show, all the movies, and has his own wtf !!! guess he needs a sextape before he's worthy clearly getting stabbed in the heart wasn't enough.
side note....give us batroc damn it.

My favorite is the first Cap Line, a lot of different figures to collect from the movie and comics, the least favorite is The Amazing Spider-Man 2 line, all the figures are garbage, I have to make customs of the 3 enemies from the movie beacuse Hasbro give us a horrible line with a lot of slots for great movie/comic characters

The same with the Iron Man 3 line, 42 suits! and they give us 12 suits, thats it, and again I have to do customs of the different suits, even I do a custom Madarin/Trevor for my collection. I know that not all the suits are important, I have a list of the ones that are needed and more important in the movie, so if anyone want to know just ask.

Im with you in the Cap 2 line, the could have make Batroc and Crossbones, even Black Widow is easy! Just take the avengers one, repaint his suit with a gray color and give her a new hair scultp and you have TWS Black Widow (Maybe I'll make one for me)

The problem I have with those lines or well with the last ones is that they can give us a lot of characters: The movie ones and comic related ones with decent detail and articulation, but no Hasbro is just to lazy to do that!

With all of that being said, they have to give us an Agent Coulson figure!!

Here are some of the customs:

favorite movie line.. XMO Wolverine, I've dreamed about a wolverine line since I was 10, plus they threw in an ass load of comic accurate x-men, and some obscures like maverick and DP.,

least, IM3 so much potential squandered.

Does this make sense to you? ...Keep Austin Weird!

I completely forgot you were here in town. We need to meet up one day

Yeah, whatever one else has said. Some Star Wars collector just didn't want to pay for the head so they repacked. Star Wars guys have all been buying those Black Widows to do head swaps on for months. There is a theory Hasbro made the Mara Jade head so terrible that people would have to buy new figures to head swap.

Here is mine from forever ago.

Goldengreg 03-05-2014 02:41 AM

As for me, my favorite Marvel Movies line would be:

-IM2
Pretty well distributed in Europe, and great overall quality of painting and articulation. We also got fantastic comic-accurate villains like Crimson Dynamo or Iron Monger, as well as a nice Nick-Fury; and the army building drones were terrific!

-Thor 1
Except for Sif, I'm not a fan of what they did with the heroes, but the Frost Giants are incredible. They're big, their ice-based weapons looks fantastic, and they are incredibly articulated, allowing for incredibly dynamic poses for epic scenery

First Wolverine movie gave us Deeadpool and other comic-accurate characters, but it lacked villains.

And on a totally unrelated note: I have the possibility to buy a Spider-Bag for 39$ in Japan, is it a good (fair?) price, or still too expensive? I'm not sure how much he goes nowadays?

So you're the one Ha?? Word of advise... STAY AWAY FROM MY TRU!! LMAO, J/K bro.

ukmu 03-05-2014 09:10 AM

I looked me Cap one movie line.... I army build the comic colour HYDRA troopers from it ....BUYING OF ANYONE HAS ANY PM ME....
(Shameless plug)

XMO also gave us the Blob, love him or hate him, I.don't think we will see him.again in this scale.

Cap 2 has yet to deliver anything good, really.... but the Avenger line gave us a Skrull brute last minute so who knows.

Dang really, glad I picked him up for $30 then when he first came out, I had a feeling his price point would jump up more.

samsson37 03-05-2014 02:00 PM

Has anyone else noticed that the price on the Ms Marvel (Karla version) has gone up in price since they announced Ares is coming out ?!??? I was really amped up to try and finish the team especially after I successfully grabbed the DARK Spider & Wolverine set for $20 w free shipping. But I can't score her for cheap... Same thing has happened with the Ultimate Iron Man, since Cataclysm happened his pricing has gone up...ggggrrrrr

spade 03-05-2014 04:48 PM

Wolverine was the best line. It gave us deadpool, sabretooth, maverick, iceman, cyclops, blob, and gambit. And the wolverines were not worthless.

I really thought this was me just being a gay guy and picking those details apart but seriously. It's a little odd. She looks more like Sharon Ventura

Buy it ASAP.

samsson37 03-05-2014 06:42 PM

I have thought about doing that, but if we are being picky...its the mask. she wears a different mask ( dammit all to hell ) and besides the warbird version is just as expensive

Captain Nash 03-05-2014 07:54 PM

Hoping those Avengers Infinite wave 1 figures will ship soon. Neeeed...Waaaasp......nooooow...

Kernel 03-05-2014 08:15 PM

I wish they would make some monster characters, maybe even a whole wave near halloween. Werewolf by night, Hrimhari, Dracula, Man-thing, Living Mummy, Simon William Garth Zombie, Wendigo, sasquatch, wolfsbane, Frankenstein and morbius.
It would be great too if they could do different versions of the main characters they recycle, like that retooled thor for the avengers infinite line, heck do a headswap on captain america and make cap wolf or doppleganger spiderman! I would like that better than the same spider-man and modular armor ironman.
Looking at the legends stuff I am getting jealous, I wish MU/AI would have build a figures like fin fang foom, krakoa, groot, devil dinosaur, Giganto, etc.
