Also I remember people trying to figure out if King Valkyrie would find someone to be her Queen in the movie, did she? I haven’t seen the movie and spoilers don’t bother me ;) |

No female of royal blood has ever been referred to as a "King". Just Disney playing the woke game. I guess Chris Hemsworth's Thor should be referred to as Queen Thor. |

Little DC/Marvel crossover. Showing off my Venom re-issue that arrived yesterday. Still waiting on Spidey re-issue. Spidey in this pick is a KO. DGAF what anyone says, MAFEX comic based characters blow away anyone else's versions.

Disney is more focused on pandering & tokenism. Turned a character that is amongst the top 10 most powerful heroes & turn him into a bumbling Homer Simpson that cracks jokes. The 1st movie was directed by someone who actually knew Shakespeare, and it showed. The last 2 Thor movies have been directed by a guy with a kid's mindset, who asked for Comedic Thor? Thor has never been a character known for his sense of humor in the comics, but this guy said, "hold my beer", Imma mess this character up and alienate the Thor comic book fan base to the T. Let's give his powers to a 100lb female mortal, which worked out so well in the comics. Thor has been degraded to become the comedic element in his own movie just to pander to a fan base that probably never even knew this character existed prior to the MCU. The 1st 2 Thor movies were made for adults, the last 2 have reverted the character to a joke of himself and pandering to an infantile fan base that laughs at every corny joke in the movie, funny or not & most are not funny. I'm well aware of the Disney agenda to crush all white male leads but this is pathetic. |
^ You know... when you mention pandering to an infantile fanbase... the first thing that comes to mind isn't Disney.
The first Thor was definitely the best Thor movie though... it had the best structure and storytelling elements... didn't even watch Dark World. IMO Ragnarok was great fun, but a lot of that has to do with the Hulk being in it and at the time it felt like a breath of fresh air when the current MCU movie formula was starting to feel a bit stale. But nowadays IMO Taika Waititi's brand of humor is starting to wear thin... I'm actually hesitant about his Star Wars movie now. |

And they’re replacing the old avengers not crushing white male leads, I thought that was obvious seeing as we’ve been introduced to Yelena, Kate, Shuri, Spider-Man, She-Hulk, ect. |
*yawn*
So when are we gonna get some new toys? |

As for the comic's subject matter, I'd think long term Thor fans would be used to the big guy being unfit/unworthy, losing access to his full powers, and being humbled by the experience. Ya know pretty much the classic Thor schtick. Quote:

Maybe it's because I grew up in a time when there were plenty of strong female heroes in my life such as Teela, Cheetara, She-Ra, Steel Heart, Arcee, Lady Jaye, Scarlet, Covergirl, Sailor Moon and the Sailor Guardians, Wonder Woman, Black Widow, Storm, Rogue, Phoenix, Batgirl, Supergirl, Raven, and Starfire, so I've never had any issue with powerful women. I love seeing more female characters taking the lead, especially when they are well written as most of the MCU has done. Quote:
I was just trying to think of how many more Marvel figures I have preordered since Pulse said Rhino is shipping soon. Havok, AF15 Spider-Man, Toei Spider-Man, Madame Hydra, Toad, Mojo, Firelord, and Apocalypse. Compared to what I'm used to, that seems pretty lackluster. |

Oh cool, we're doing Great Replacement Theory in our toy forum now?
The next livestream can't come soon enough. |

The other agenda that reeks is possibly stolen/false valor. The US Marines I've met (family members) in my life comport themselves in a far different manner than what I've seen here. They don't talk about being Marines or about being in the service at every opportunity, and, most importantly, they respect other people. It's part of their training as I understand and imo it makes them truly impressive people. Everyone is different, of course, but a few things just don't jive. |
It always trips me out and also saddens when I'm on toy/comic forums and see people give their racist/sexist/whatever-ist, frankly dumbass takes on things.
It's like......do you not actually read....or pay attention to the things you're reading and/or collecting? You'd be the villain in the book or on the bad guy side of the card back. |
It always trips me out that we've become so split as a society that we have to discuss this sort of thing in a place that's meant to be one of the last true escapes from real-world misery that's left. Man, we really are headed off of a fucking cliff, and our enemies are laughing loudly, rest assured.
Remember folks, all hatred is bad, even if you just hate hate. I know I'm kinda one of the FNGs of this board, but can we talk about toys and comics instead? CNN and Fox have sites in which you can discuss this shit if you must, or better yet, try a Youtube video comments section. |
^This thread is a microcosm of everything going on in ambient society, as is most of social media. This particular corner of the Ark has always been 'self-monitoring' with mods even commenting about as much and adopting a largely hands-off approach to discourse here. What you may not know is that this has been a persistent theme for this person and the thread has been pretty tolerant of that in spite of the number of people that have obviously taken personal umbrage. (based strictly on the number of responses) Not everyone can Pollyanna their way through what's going on in real time around us and I honestly believe that's a good thing. Your point is taken, but I think the response in the last several comments is a similar statement to yours of "not here, not now, and not ever."
Anyway, this wasn't planned (the universe is guided by a grand comic), as it's sat completed on my drafting table since Thursday and been in development since early last week...I'm still getting used to a new camera/new lighting/constructed space, so it represents a work in progress as I relearn things I've done before, but..... Either way it’s important to still show compassion no matter how much we may disagree with someone. |

That dio scene looks great man. Did you build that yourself? If so, we may have more to discuss beyond Legends (and the merits of political.... "discourse" ;) ) |
