That Brimstone is amazingly cool, and could be a "test shot."

But Black Lightning is just a regular one with his hands swapped. When you swap hands with most figures, there is no indication that it was ever done. I have swapped over 100 pairs of hands in my day, I should know.

Actually the Harley from ML has a corrected all white color on the face, and the red color is slightly lighter.

Thanks, yeah I think you are right and 305Batman called it. On second blush, I noticed bulges in the forearms and the wrists, while snug fitting, don't line up exactly....

Yeah, when I saw the Brimstone, I had to have it. Maybe it is a test shot. It can't be seen from my craptacular pics, but you can actually see a backwards part number in one of the translucent legs.

UPDATE: I just checked the forearms on the BL and they have an unusual bulge (you can actually see it on the pic). I think you were right 305Batman, its a custom. Well that's one mystery solved....

Balled fists and is DCUC Wave 5 (Walmart Exclusive) 6 inches No lightening attachments came MIB with the C&C Metallo piece which is now together

It could also be a "lunchtime special." Either way, very hard to find I would think.

Yes, I know. However, her face is white instead of blue and my W3 one has some really weird slimy arms.

I preordered the case and never got a Naked Cheetah in mine.

Harley was Wave 2. Blue face. ML has white face.

Naked Cheetah didn't come in cases, it was sold singly.

CMIII 08-18-2014 06:38 PM

Rather than respond to all the vitriol in this forum, I will just provide a little insight to the situation by replying to this one post.

That...

that really doesn't make any sense. Why would they have wasted their time on mock up packaging and why would it have taken this long to show up on the internet?

If you know some of the business side of the industry, it makes perfect sense. It's part of the R&D process for any toy company (and most other manufacturers, really): Mattel, Hasbro, Playmates, Bandai, et. al. They all spend money on creating test shots, prototypes and packaging mock ups for various reasons. Sometimes it's to impress investors and stockholders with potential future products. Sometimes it's to see how well certain ideas translate from paper (or these days, CAD) to a physical object and if there are any issues with the design. Still other times, it's to work out QC errors with the factory (or factories) before the product hits retail.

Regardless of the reasons why, all those materials are considered proprietary and are never meant to be released to the public. Only when the corporation decides it will never continue development on the idea (and the release is cleared by their legal department) will the company release images/documents like this to the public on purpose.

I've seen it happen several times over the years with all kinds of toys from various manufacturers. If it was indeed an internal leak, someone will probably lose his/her job over this. And no, CMIII, it won't be Scott because he would know better than anyone else at Mattel not to do or say anything on behalf of the company without checking with upper management and Legal first.

I won't deny that maybe Mattel was still working on a way to finally move forward with DDU in spite of the failure of DCUC/CIE. Hasbro has done that in the past when a toy's development cycle had already reached the steel mold stage when the project or line has been cancelled.

I don't believe that is the case, since Mattel already stated they needed a certain level of pre-sales before they would have started that stage of development for DDU.

TL;DR
Mockups and prototypes are done all the time. Just look at all those independent toy companies and Kickstarter campaigns for numerous examples. The only difference is that we are usually the investors/shareholders in that scenario.

For larger corporations like Mattel, images and materials for unreleased or in-development projects are rarely shown to the public, if ever. Most likely, Mattel never meant for that image to be released.

TheBlueMarvel 08-20-2014 12:20 AM

@Trebleshot

Makes sense, but I do hope that it was an intentional leak aimed at creating some viral buzz....It would be nice to pick up a DDU, even if it represented a last hurrah for DCUC.

trebleshot 08-20-2014 07:31 AM

While that's certainly possible, it seems a little underhanded and unnecessary for a company as large as Mattel. At least to me, anyway.

Not to mention it's a huge gamble for them, publicity-wise. If the comments in this thread are any indication, it's back-firing.

Colder Soldier 08-20-2014 09:02 AM

So no one saved the leaked pic of this DDU?

Which announced but un produced DCUC Style figure would you most liked to have seen?

Choices:

*52 Plastic Man
*Ms. Martian (Young Justice)
*Superboy (Young Justice)
*Un Leashed Doomsday

Ms. Martian, definitely.

I'm buying her.

WWs bracelets are silver, not gold. Blue (and white) was used to replicate silver in old 3color comics and blue was used for the Super Powers WW's bracelets this new one represents.

CMIII 08-20-2014 03:55 PM

Doomsday UNLEASHED is officially coming

Tiberius 08-20-2014 03:59 PM

That Mattel team is a bunch of fucking liars... like damn...

I'll get this though... sigh.

We all will and now for the first time in a year I am happy with Mattels Actions.. though I still think the extension is messed up though

Tiberius 08-20-2014 04:13 PM

I enjoy it, just for the sake it's like they are begging people for money. Full on begging, and if begging doesn't work, they threaten us.

If the bracelets were silver, I'd buy her. But they're not, so she isn't worth it to me.

As for Doomsday:

OH YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!!!

FUCK YOU MATTEL!!! FUCK YOU HARD!!!!!

LOL yay Figure Slueth!!! ;) Really dude, Dr Kain and you have broken some great news on these boards in the last 48hrs....Now we just need them to announce a re-vamped launch of DCUC and I will also be happy with their decisions! Fingers crossed!

Phantomcrow 08-20-2014 07:08 PM

Well the SDCC Doomsday was 35$ so I am guessing Unleashed will be 45$-50$. I don't care I will have at least 3 of them. Death of Superman is one of my top 5 fav comic stories.
