Galactus gains a new herald. He is eternal. He is a devourer of worlds, and of children!

^ I like that it is Tim Curry It instead of new guy It... although new guy It was great too in the 1st remake.

Boogieman4hire 11-08-2022 01:14 AM

I like both personally and have both but I found this a lot funnier. Plus the Skarsgard Pennywise's heads aren't compatible with the Chucky body.

   Insta buy for me!

Because it'd still be $350 for 5 figures. Because that's how Hasbro pricing works.

I personally think Skarsgard is the superior Pennywise. Granted, yes, Pennywise is just an image created by the Deadlights, but the Skarsgard version comes off as a demonic clown rather than just Tim Curry in make-up.

^Drag queens and transgendered individuals are only generally “scary” to people that struggle with insecurities that revolve around their own sexuality and its expression. Jus’ sayin’…

Back to toys - Looks like Puff Adder is the BAF for the Yelena/Extremis wave. Also, some collectors aren’t going to like Simon’s (Wonder Man) elbows as they look to be identical to the ones rolled out for Red Skull and Dormammu in the villain wave. Molecule Man also seems to sport them…

firmpulse 11-08-2022 11:21 AM

Pulse just listed the Ultimates Cap and Strucker wave. Looks like BAF is Puff Adder.

Starlord67 11-08-2022 01:37 PM

"Let's do the time warp again!"

Excited to see PUFF ADDER as the BAF as I want to complete the Serpent
Society... BUT....I was Really hoping for Skurge the Executioner. Maybe soon

Now I totally expect to see a Spider-Man One More Day Haslab with Mephisto in it.

After the decision behind OMD and all the recent attempts to fix that story, Mephisto is so tied to Spider-Man's mythos he might as well just be another Osborn wearing a mask.

EOV failed because it was largely viewed as an overpriced version of a character that failed to excite most fans. That's obvious because it failed.

Don't make fans feel like they are being raped. Mephisto could easily be offered as a Pulse Exclusive. Hell, they could even try an entire "Midnight Sons" HasLab WAVE. 6-7 character wave. Stretch goals could include added accessories. $125-$150 price range.

Or better yet Hasbro could adopt a model like every other toy company nowadays and offer said wave as a timed exclusive. But they won't because that makes way too much sense and Hasbro likes to overthink everything.

It still wasn't that generic since it was all tied up with selling you a Ghost Rider car no of us really needed and basing everything around being "oooooo, spooky!" as the theme. Instead of Ghost Rider they should really go with a more Marvel Universe centric approach, maybe a new Most Wanted Villains set of figures, since there's more such characters like say Mandarin or Red Skull in a full Nazi uniform that could have a figure like our favorite Comics Code Authority approved Devil if not for Hasbro, as you so elegantly put, also not having the "balls" to release them at retail.

Anyway, it might not be a HasLab, but maybe at some form as a Pulse exclusive. That's the only way it's ever going to happen, if it ever happens at all.

Pretty sure that's exactly the point that Rocky Horror was going for. It's a silly thing, really intentionally so, but oddly deep and well written.

Anyway it's good to see another Serpent Society member, maybe Hasbro really was finally serious this time about getting back to completing teams?

I’ve no issues with Rocky Horror. That said, I’ve still zero interest in watching despite multiple friends advocating over the years, it’s just not my thing. My comment was strictly about balancing out what could've been construed as an ‘unwelcome-mat’ for any transgendered (or drag queen) community members. The transgendered community is perpetually under assault (from taunts to outright murder), especially so as of late and tropes about them being frightening, or unnatural, regardless of whatever the intent was, seemed to call for a counterbalance.

Back to toys - I’m happy for Puff Adder as well and I’m one of the collectors anticipating the completion of the Serpent Society. Of the members left, there are only a couple that I feel are ‘musts’: Anaconda, Black Mamba, Bushmaster, Death Adder, Asp, and Sidewinder. The others I can live without.

Captain Nash 11-08-2022 04:59 PM

Glad for everyone that wanted Puff Adder. Just The Orb for me this time around. I can't say no to a figure that has a giant eyeball for a head.

Dr Kain 11-08-2022 05:54 PM

What a garbage wave. Five years ago I would have bought them all for Puff Adder, but not at today's prices and for a team Hasbro has shown little desire to complete outside of one figure every couple of years.

Aren't you the dude that flooded another Hasbro topic with homophobic and transphobic bullshit?

Boogieman4hire 11-08-2022 07:47 PM

I had no idea this is where things would go with my photo.
In other news I preordered Wonder Man and the Orb. I'll hold off on the rest until they hit retail and make my decisions then. Also while I'm happy to get more Serpent Society I'm not too keen on a BAF as another release. I was sort of hoping for Awesome Android or Atlas or comic Attuma. At least that makes the urge much smaller to buy the whole wave.

True. I think it is just that kid me found Tim Curry's clown to be way more scarier than adult me found Skarsgard's clown. I was legit scared watching the original It as a kid in 8th grade... the remake wasn't even scary at all IMO... it was more like a good suspense thriller with great spooky looking visual effects.

Whoa, before this goes any further. I like to apologize that I was insensitive when I posted that picture, I would delete it if I could but it's already been quoted, but please read my post, I was only referring to Tim Curry in make-up being scary. As in Tim Carry is such a great actor, him just having make up in "IT" was scarier than a demonic clown, as with many of his characters in other movies. I've made no reference to the transgender community. Had I posted a picture of Tim Curry in "IT" would you have accused me of being Coulrophobic?

That said, I know you won't believe anything that I say at this point. Anything that I say would just seems like I'm back-paddling. So I can only assure you that perhaps my insensitivity came from the fact that I didn't see his character in the Rocky Horror Picture Show as any different than a picture of Tim Curry in the "IT" make up - characters in a movie. I only ask that you'd forgive my insensitivity and give me the benefit of the doubt.

Nope. I'm pretty sure that was not me. I don't know who you're thinking of, but I'm fully aware there are people of different gender preferences here, and I've been nothing but kind and courteous to them. Talking about toys. I have no agenda against anyone here.

Well I watched the Curry movie after I saw the new movies and I didn't find it the least bit suspenseful.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't exactly great and they barely did anything with the Deadlights. The new movies were full of suspense and atmosphere that lined up with the book. The only issue I had with the new movies are they totally ignored Ben being an architectural genuius when he was a child. Beyond that, it was interesting how both movies featured scenes from the book that were only in their version and then both movies didn't do certain scenes at all. No Rodan, no Gillman, no Mummy, in fact, they never did anything in the winter time like the book did, and neither destroyed Derry.

If that's how you meant it, I can only take you at your word. It did seem kind of out of left field from what you generally say. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Whew, thanks! Again, sorry for my poor choice of a picture, I was just thinking of the 2 most memorable movies where Jim Curry wore makeup - IT and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, both of which I did enjoy!

What about Legend? Lord of Darkness Tim Curry was pretty scary.

Boogieman4hire 11-08-2022 10:15 PM

This reminds me. Maybe Mephisto makes his way into the MCU and bam the gates are open for a figure. Surtur is in a movie. Sabbac is in a movie. Remember when people were wrongly guessing Christian Bale would be Mephisto in Thor: Love and Thunder. While not visually I hope if Mephisto does come out he's something like this.

MeLikeJinx 11-09-2022 01:42 AM

LOL. Darkness wasn't scary... he was awesome. IMO the fairy lady was the scariest thing in that movie. And IMO Legend 1985 is my 2nd fav Tom Cruise movie (Collateral will always be number 1)... the Theatrical version of Legend with Tangerine Dream, not the Director's Cut with Jerry Goldsmith's score. If Neca ever made any Legend figs... I probably would jump in at that point.

Scary for other people. He's the reason I watch that movie repeatedly. But oh man I want some NECA figures too. So far there's only a Movie Maniacs Lord of Darkness released by McFarlane and a SOTA Toys Meg Mucklebones. The SOTA figure blows and the McFarlane Darkness is too expensive for me on the aftermarket for what it is.
