As for the price itself, unfortunately, this is becoming something of a trend with Hasbro of late as they are making the most wanted figures extremely limited which forces retailers to order huge numbers of unwanted figures.

Unlike some other manufacturers, Hasbro does not allow retailers to order full cases of single figures. They only produce case assortments and there is only one Wasp in each case of 12 from this assortment while 5 of the 12 figures are re-releases which no one wants.

We had nearly 400 reserve account requests for Wasp and 78 requests for all of the other figures combined. That means we have to pay for well over 4000 unwanted figures just to get the needed number of Wasp figures. While some of those extra figures will sell to non-reserve account customers, the vast majority will not. A portion of that cost has to be passed on in the price for Wasp but it would have to be over $100 each to make up our actual cost.

This is a widespread issue though affecting all retailers which is why a quick web search shows that ToyWiz has it for $44.99, CMDStore has it for $59.95, and Toys On Fire has it for $64.95. Those are just the first three I found on Google (excluding eBay sellers) and our price (which we realize is high) remains one of the lowest around.

With manufacturers like Mattel and DC Direct who do offer full cases of single figures, high prices for high demand figures don't happen but Hasbro seems to feel that making these figures scarce will somehow benefit them. Our concern is that the opposite will happen and customers will decide to drop Hasbro figures completely.

I sincerely wish that we could offer Wasp at a lower price but I'm afraid it just isn't possible under these circumstances.

...

To be honest, if Hasbro continues like this much longer we may simply stop carrying their products completely as we're already losing money on these assortments and still incurring ill will nonetheless.

I was going to say that this kind of policy is just going to guarantee that the small retailers will stop buying. Hasbro won't care of course, as long as they have Walmart, etc, but it's exponential - eventually it will kill the roots of the collectors market and then Walmart will drop out too. There is literally *no reason* for Hasbro to do this - none. And when they feign ignorance it's a double insult - you can't tell me there are no employees that are aware of comics or the fan market. To shortpack a new figure, a female figure, and one of the primary characters in the Marvel Universe, and then say "Eh?" when people complain is just insulting - they *know* what this will do, but they don't seem to recognise that the small retailers can't take hits this big time and again (variants and shortpacks over and over and over and over for *no* reason). All we can hope is that the distribution for the new brand is much better and wider based on what they said about retailers recogising the Avengers brand more. If it's not, then it's the same old Hasbro lies and games.

That said; I don't buy that 400 people reserved Wasp, but there were only 78 people who wanted Reaper, Hyperion and Hulk combined. These are new figures (well, Reaper and Hype), and they would be wanted by most collectors. This just looks like Scalper tactics hitting the retailers as hard as the Hasbro ones, as a big chunk of those orders are based on 'she's scarce, I could make some money on her!' which ultimately, Hasbro is still responsible for.

not to me but out of that case wasp goes alot farther to completing alot of ppls avengers team line-ups then anyone else goes to completing a team in that wave, reaper is a "D" villain and hyperion just gives you the 2nd character to his team, so i could definitely see her out pacing all those figures like that.

if i found a wasp at retailers i would pick it up but im not going to search her out and pay more then face value, honestly no one in that wave makes me want to search for them, i want reaper (i need more bad guys) and hyperion (just in hopes they release some exiles) but the next 2 waves have more ppl i want and really most are just to give me more bad guys

wow. all this griping aside what are all your opinions on the new figs?

Agreed... reviews or pics would be nice on this thread once in a while. Someone needs to start a 3.75 (and corresponding 6 inch) conspiracy theory thread so we can separate the noise from the appreciation a little easier. =)

The pictures on the internet look fine. Hyperion looks the best to me; with Reaper second. Glad they've made a Wasp but her colour scheme doesn't do much for me, and her legs seem too long and hips too wide - like they've come from someone else.

As for the next wave; looks great, with only the Thor being weak, but one in six isn't bad. I hope none of them become a Northstar and don't ship, and that the only shortpacked figure is Ionic Wonder Man (who I still want, but better to shortpack a variant than a new character).

Yes! And if there's someone that's all about the pics, that would be me my friends...

Thanks to my good friend Shawn Woodbeck, I now have all 4 DD's!! Yes, not three but four. I was missing the "hand down nunchuck up" version and here it is! Thanks Shawn...

Also, did you guys noticed that Aurora is available again on HTS? This is what it says...

"The X-Men are not the only team of mutants to take on the mantle of heroes. Operating from a base of operations in Canada, the members of Alpha Flight defend their nation against all threats with unyielding courage and their own incredible mutant powers. Your superhero adventures will be off the hook with this awesome Alpha Flight figure! This mutant hero will defend the nation against every evil. Will justice prevail? It's all up to you! Includes Aurora figure. Series 5 027 Alpha Flight"

Where is Northstar?? Will we ever see him/her?? SDCC??

kylactus 03-17-2014 04:37 PM

according to the MU Wikipedia listing Northstar has been canceled and shuffled into the infinite series.

Well, if that's true, then it's good news for the loose collectors and bad news for the moc collectors.

Thanks professor, you're too kind! I'm going to give it a shot, I'm going to get the first wave and take it from there. Who's the hard to get? Any variants?

Wasp is no variants but she might as well be she's one per case

Finally able as of today to take a group shot of the essential classic Avengers! (Forgive my work in progress custom of Justice just wanted to get this picture done.) Sure to wish I had a Spectrum and Sersi to go along with this.....

Ninjinister 03-17-2014 10:25 PM

Infinites 2 on card. Sad that Thor doesn't come with Throg. Also why no Ant-Man with Yellowjacket?

Only gripe with Wasp is the new body but at the same time I think Wasp really needed that new articulation.

hopefully eventually we can get a couple females like (Psylocke,Widow) redone with the new bodies.

MU price has gone up at wally to 11.99. to think that these were 6.99 like less than 2 years ago and that a 9.99 price killed young justice because it was unthinkable to pay that much for 3.75". Then everyone else said me too and 9.99 become the standard and now they want to raise it again.

cidman911 03-17-2014 10:54 PM

Looking forward to getting that Beta Ray Bill. I was never able to find one in stores with the old line.

davieanix 03-18-2014 02:34 AM

Just opened up Hulk, Hyperion and Grim Reaper. I don't want to sound negative here but I'm not really impressed. The plastic quality is considerably lower than Marvel Universe. It's like comparing new Transformers to ones from 2009.

Hyperion looks a bit derpy in my opinion. There's nothing really wrong with him but then due to the cheap plastic, he doesn't feel right either. Mine may have some bad paint apps on the eyes.

Grim Reaper is cool but the scythe on mine was bent as anything. Hair dryer fixed it. He has rocker ankles which is great. Probably the best of the lot. But still feels cheap.

Hulk. Once again, feels very low quality. And while he may look nice I am incredibly pissed that the metal arm/elbow bands are such flimsy plastic that they don't even stay on. If you try and pose him they will just come off in mid movement.

Other than that, I'm still happy we are getting these characters in 3.75. But I can't help but feel a little disappointed.

I also have the other 3, and Cap has massive gaps in pack in his thigh swivel. So did Grim, Hyperion and Hulk.

ukmu 03-18-2014 03:57 AM

nice pic Cap'n Nash......

bmorr 03-18-2014 04:25 AM

i had to use sticky tack to keep the hulk gauntlets on. i decided to use them as wrist cuffs. wasnt sure where the best place on the arm to keep them, but they looked good there. I super glued the cape onto Hyperion cause i wasnt having any of that falling off nonsense. It would have also been nice if reaper scythe could rotate.

yeah it looks like us completest folks are getting boned, two repacks in series 1, 3 in series two, by next year we'll be buying the whole series over again, they could have at least repainted them! that at least softens the blow. at least were two rounds in without a wolverine or spidey. I wish they would have head swapped Capt. Rogers to make a modern furry Jr., then give old Nick a reboot too. and we better get a Jarvis and pepper, what would the avengers be without there support team?

No joke, especially since there's no real card art any more, and it seems like they've gone cheap with the plastic. So so sad :(

I guess it's a good thing I'm a MOSC with majority of my MU's, so I won't really have that problem with displaying but that really sucks to hear that.

Yeah that really sucks with the waves of these. Wonder what the case assortments will be for the next wave. Is it going to be She-Hulk that gets the short packed.

samsson37 03-18-2014 09:09 AM

I agree, I am happy that I grabbed Hyperion and Grim Reaper I have to say a few minutes after opening them. I felt a lil flat. It is a definetly a cheaper plastic. The old Thor for example feels heavy, the older hulk feels heavy, these feel more dollar general. I too glued Hyperions cape on and had to fix grim's hand. With no accessories if I wasn't a collector it would be a hard sell. Just saw the new ones and come on give us a lil yellowjacket or change his hand and give him a gun, whirlwind a bag of money ...something !! Smh

He's there. its jsut that hes shrunk so small you cant see him.

also, ive got a feeling whirlwind will have a presence in the new ant man movie. He started as an Ant Man villain. He started as their chauffeur.

Iceman 03-18-2014 12:55 PM
