The Marvels Wave was announced Cho Hulk is the BAF

Big "yay" for Karnak and Marvel boy. Guess this is the 'Marvels' wave recently inquired about. Is that Amadeus an MCU appearance, or is Hasbro's decision to use some recycled MCU Hulk parts simply an effort at expediency?

Well there goes my "no more MCU figures" promise, I can't not get Cho. Thankfully four of the wave are figures I'm happy to have. Only need Viv to complete a 2016 Champions lineup now as well.

What a spectacularly unspectacular wave. but not a real surprise either. I may get Monica, she might be one of those MCU figures I'd like to have for that little corner of my multiverse collection.
It just feels like when Hasbro isn't sure what figures to include to fill out a wave, they just throw an Iron Man in there. It's really getting old at this point. |

As for the wave itself, only Commander Rogers and Iron Man are of interest to me. I never read Totally Awesome Hulk but the BAF "pops" in the promo pics. At least Carol resembles Brie Larson this time instead of Amy Poehler. |
Just Karnak for me. Hopefully we won't have to wait another five years for another Inhuman to make it into Legends.

I just need the "Heroes Return" armor Iron Man. I don't know Marvel Boy or Karnak that well to muster up any excitement, I've never been a fan of Amadeus Cho Hulk, and the face sculpts look terrible for both Ms. Marvel and Commander Combover -- er, Rogers. Monica and Carol look fine, I guess, but I'll wait until Hasbro gives us a proper classic comic Ms. Marvel for Carol Danvers instead.
My main concern is what happens to future Marvel Legends if the character selections end up being this underwhelming. It's hard enough to justify the $26 price point for a six inch figure with a Build-A-Figure piece, a set of alternate hands, or both if we're REALLY lucky. The lack of accessories like effect/power pieces and/or alternate heads have really taken the excitement out of most of the reveals for me. I'm still waiting on sold-separately figures for classic green-and-orange suit or Armani suit Doc Ock with the bendy wire tentacles, a Jim Lee Cyclops with an optic blast, a classic scaly-chainmail Captain America with an alternate smiling head and alternate triangular shield, and a first appearance Mary Jane Watson with a removable jacket and alternate jacket sleeve arms, since characters like Doc Ock and Cyclops are usually either very hard to find, are sold as part of two-packs or boxed sets, or both. At the rate Hasbro keeps releasing peg-warmer waves, though, I have a feeling I'll be waiting for a loooooong time. |
Fuck yes, Marvel Boy finally, and just in time for Pride Month. Hopefully this means more Young Avengers are on the docket.

Agreed, but I kinda do, unintentionally, have most of the ingredients for an Iron Man “Hall of Armor” :o thanks to Hasbro anchoring so many lines with him. I think I most want a comic Hulk-Buster and his original space armor from Hasbro and then I’m most likely good. Quote:

I didn't realize I wanted the Heroes Return Iron Man until seeing it. What a rush of nostalgia. I loved those Busiek Avengers and Iron Man runs.

So ANOTHER BAF Hulk? Ugh. Surely there are other characters they could do as BAFs.
Another wave of dogshit in my book. Karnak would be the only one I would probably get, but not unless it was on clearance for $7 since he has the pinned legs and arms. |
Boring!!!

Since I doubt we'll ever get a Nicholas Hammond Spider-Man, I decided to convert my Toei version into one. The costumes are virtually identical aside from the mask. I didn't want to try my hand at modifying the head, so I just went with a quick and easy custom. First, I stripped the paint off the bracelet to make it into the bulky Hammond webshooter. For the belt, I pieced together a movie Ant Man belt with the one from Avalanche (along with a little bit of paint).
It's not perfect, but it's good enough for now. |
Nice! That's pretty neat. Got the pose down too, lol.
|
Lol Hammond is to Spider-Man what Tom Baker is to Dr. Who. The best!
|
Um... no. In fact, that's an insult to Tom.
|
Holland? He doesn't even want to be Spider Man.

No idea what you mean about Tom Holland though as he is currently the best live action Spidey to date. |
Yeah ok, man.
The comments were lighthearted and not intended to be serious, but you can defend Tom Baker’s honor all you want – I’ve loved his Dr Who since the early 80's when the show was syndicated here in the NY tristate, so no need to gatekeep. Also, the joke about Holland is that he said himself that he didn’t want to play Spider Man into his 30’s and, if that happened, he implied that it would be evidence that his career was going astray. I'm not sure I'm ready to elevate him as a prisoner of the moment given that his comment smacks of someone accepting a large paycheck, while he'd really rather do something else - aka RDJ - and, possibly many of the other original actors for the MCU, based on some recent things Hemsworth said about his own Thor 'fatigue'. |

Man. I've wanted a Commander Rogers ML figure for a while. This looks pretty dang good. Though, the ridiculous chin and close set eyes portrait has begun to irritate me. But I could get past that. However I can't get past the shitty pinned buck.
Hasbro needs to stop releasing really expensive figures on those old ass bodies. Retire that shit already. It's the only Hasbro line that still uses them (other than a few occasion uses of old Black Series bucks). This figure perfectly illustrates why I'm 95% out of ML. They are fucking LAZY. |
