X-Men 97 wave? Something for Deadpool, if production is far enough along on those figures - which is possible it's not, since the movie was supposed to come out Nov. 2024 instead of May 2024. More Spider-man figures? Possibly the next Vintage wave?

With it being only two weeks away, it's great we'll have more of an idea for things for 2024.

We seem due for some X-reveals.

Hopefully they will finally show that rumored No Way Home Wave 2 with the single releases of Tobey Andrew etc

It woudl be nice if they could reveal a classic Banshee and Siryn (with screaming head) two pack. Hopefully a retro card of Phoenix on the new body DP was on along with Destiny, Feral, Wolfsbane, Leland, and Excalibur Phoenix. Maybe a 275 Professor X in a 3 pack with Lilandra and Deathbird.

Enforcers 3 pack for Spider-Man on top of a Romita Jr Hobgoblin.

But given my wishlist compared to Hasbro's reality, absolutely none of what I just said will be shown off.

I honestly would want feral and wolfsbane ina standard wave. I hate having to buy expensive sets to finish teams.

Captain Nash 07-08-2023 04:44 PM

How about an X-Women of the 90s pack?
X-Factor Wolfsbane
X-Force Feral
Excalibur Phoenix
Generation X Jubilee
X-men Cecelia Reyes -standard training uniform. or Marrow with her outfit when she joined (NOT Gene Nation look)

I didn't mean for all of those to be in a box set. Feral and the like should be in a Complete The Teams wave.

StuartGreen2019 07-08-2023 09:59 PM

I'm hoping we'll get some more X-Men reveals and some Spider-Man reveals. I also hope we'll see classic red-and-black suit Wasp for Avengers' 60th anniversary, as it seems odd that they wouldn't. Classic comic Carol Danvers Ms. Marvel would be appreciated, as would any allies or enemies from the Fantastic Four's comic or Hulk's comic. I agree with previous comments too, a John Romita Jr. classic Hobgoblin and Generation X Jubilee are a must.

Here's who I hope to see announced/revealed within the next year, with some hopefully at SDCC:

- Ringmaster
- Classic Silver Age suit Thor redo
- Red suit Daredevil (sold separately)
- Classic Vulture
- Doc Ock (green and orange suit redo or white Armani suit with the new bendy wire tentacles)
- Spider-Man (Silver Age mid-60s red-and-blue suit with chest emblem based on John Romita Sr.'s art)
- Mary Jane Watson (first appearance)
- Cyclops (70s suit redo or Jim Lee suit redo with optic blast)
- Classic White Queen (sold separately)
- Classic red-and-white suit Falcon (with Redwing)
- Classic Destiny
- Classic Mystique
- Classic Absorbing Man
- Leader (orange and black suit)
- Captain America (classic scaly chainmail suit with iconic shield without holes in it and/or triangular shield)
- 80s suit Rogue (hopefully for the 40th anniversary of "Secret Wars" next year)
- She-Hulk (purple and white suit or Fantastic Four suit)
- Classic Titania
- Classic Volcana
- Colossus (Jim Lee Gold Team)
- Pantheon era brown jumpsuit Professor Hulk (preferably as a Deluxe release)
- Classic Kaine
- 1995 F.F. suit Invisible Woman

I'm hopeful we'll see some actual new figures for SDCC instead of just solid repaints, but time will tell.

I'd take all of these in exactly this format.

Yes, I did mean Rogue's original green-and-white X-Men uniform that she wore in "Secret Wars", which is why I mentioned "Secret Wars" to specify which suit I hope got made into a figure next. I'm pleased you at least liked 10 of my 23 wish-list characters, and since we're getting "X-Men '97" figures, I hope this means we'll get that version of Jim Lee Cyclops sooner than later with an optic blast.

That reminds me, I'd also love to see a classic red-and-purple costume Magneto figure that's sold separately that could work for the 40th anniversary of "Secret Wars" next year. It's been quite a while since that Magneto/Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver three pack came out to buy.

I thought that we'd for sure have gotten him in a retro assortment by now but every time they've done such a wave I've been wrong. I got the three pack so it's not an issue for me but it seems like such an easy "no duh" repack/minor-repaint that I really don't get why Hasbro hasn't done it yet.

Got the Vol3 Rocket. The gun pictured is not the one included with the figure, this is from my 3.75" Star Wars accessories but I fished it out for Rocket to use. Just taking his first movie gun but casting it in a soft black plastic really wasn't working for me. My immediate gripe with this figure is just that he comes with so little, it's just the toy and the one gun. I don't count BAF parts because they're not a part of the figure you're getting and only really have meaning if you complete the wave. Mainly I look back at the Vol2 Rocket and he had 2 pistols (which sort of counts the same as the 1 big gun) but then also an alternate head and the little Groot, so the lack of accessories here is noticed. A non-articulated Blurp would've been something even though Rocket is barely on screen with it. The overall build of the new figure is sturdier feeling though since the skinnier naked limbs have been covered in a consistent uniform. Much like the Vol2 version it's nice to see how much articulation they managed to fit into such a smaller toy but also makes the statue-like Howard the Duck even more offensive.

I've been thinning down my collection the past few weeks and really trying to focus on what I actually want. With that in mind, here is my list that I would like to see for SDCC.

Individual Figures
  1. Neo Classic Iron Man
  2. 2000's era Captain America with a desaturated blue costume and a belt with pouches
  3. She Hulk in her Byrne era F4 uniform
  4. Dark Avengers Ms. Marvel
  5. Mayday Parker Spider-Girl

X-Men Teams
  1. Grant Morrison's New X-Men
  2. Chris Claremont's X-Treme X-Men
  3. Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men

News that I'd like to hear at SDCC
Hasbro will be abandoning the C-Clip used for shields. All shields will have molded plastic straps like the MCU shields. An alternative would be to use elastic straps like the ToyBiz shields that came with ML Captain America figures.

TheBlueMarvel 07-10-2023 06:05 AM

^ I like everything on those lists excepting Cap.

Sure, I thought so, but wanted to be certain because there are about 5 early Rogue looks from the 80's.

As far as the 13 from your list that I removed, most were remakes and I don’t think it would be very wise for Hasbro to go that route. Many collectors are still reeling from being priced out and remakes imo are not likely to be received well in this environment. Of course, remakes will undoubtedly remain a part of what’s offered, but just not that many. I can easily foresee complaints about paying $30 for the same figure that was originally offered for $20.

ThorOdinson123 07-10-2023 08:04 AM

Well I know one figure I hope is in the Deadpool 3 wave

^Oh no. That looks terrible. For all of those that complain(ed) that movie looks don’t match the comics well enough, which includes me, the industry naysayers were right. Comic looks often don’t translate well.

Honestly i feel its that particular costume. Had it been the more iconic red n yellow 80’s outfit i think it woulda looked better,

Yeah, maybe you're onto something with that. I think I would have been more excited had it been closer to one of the tiger-stripe unis from the late 70's early 80's. However, it also might have been even more disappointing than this modern tactical upgrade. Meh, more power to whomever likes this as there seems to be a positive response to this online.

I disagree, I think it looks awesome. It's only about 10 movies too late though. It's not the costume I wanted, but it's a god damn costume!! Way better than the jacket bullshit they pulled.

I get it, we’ve all waited a long time for something approaching the costumes we’re accustomed to seeing in the books. After such a long wait, this feels like a less than satisfying denouement given that it’s still more ‘modern tactical’ than it is unabashedly ‘super-threads’. Pauldrons, kneepads, and body armor are silly for Wolverine. But I hear you. While I’m nonplussed about the look, I’m happy that others are excited.

I just find it odd that Toei has perfected the art of costumes in the likes of Sentai and Kamen Rider with very low budgets, yet, studios that throw employee pensions at a movie's budget still struggle with figuring it out.

This is a great point. I agree that the Sentai universe has had a better sense of what super-person spandex should look like, more so than any American film/TV studio has outside of the early 70’s era efforts. It’s annoying.

Hasbro's already been going the remake route. Just look at all the re-releases and repaints they've been doing in recent years, like Falcon, Doc Ock, Scarlet Witch, etc. by putting on new coats of paint from a figure released two or three years ago and putting them on Retro packaging or part of a two- or multi-pack. I've been reeling from being unable to find and/or not afford recent figures, especially when Hasbro decides to make something a con exclusive, a two-pack or multi-pack set, or they get to be sold at only Target or Wal-Mart. Also, we're already paying $25 or $27 for a new figure with, at minimum, alternate hands and/or a Build-A-Figure piece. I just want to find figures like a Jim Lee Cyclops with an optic blast before Hasbro reduces the accessories further and hikes up the price.

I agree it looks awesome and it was well worth the wait, but I see it more as "it's about time" than "10 movies too late". I really, REALLY wish this had been the plan from the get-go on giving fans live-action comic accurate X-Men suits on the big screen. Since Hugh Jackman has confirmed he's playing multiple versions of Wolverine from the Multiverse, I'm hoping we'll see other comic book accurate suits and looks as well. "Tiger-stripe" suit Wolverine, brown-and-tan 80s costume Wolverine and Patch would all be cool to see and I'd love to see them mock the "noseless" bone claws Wolverine look from the 90s. Since we're getting a comic book accurate Wolverine suit (aside from the pointless sleeves), I'm hoping this means we'll see the other X-Men actors play Multiverse versions where we can see the Jim Lee Blue Team and Gold Team uniforms, the '80s X-Factor uniforms, the Outback era uniforms, and the "Giant Size" '70s X-Men uniforms for characters like Cyclops, Jean Grey, Colossus, Rogue, etc. And if we get Alan Cumming back to cameo as Nightcrawler, that'd be wonderful.

I think it's just the fact that the photo seems to be taken on a potato phone and it's not great lighting :P I bet it looks way better on screen haha

HoovenIV 07-10-2023 10:40 PM

I think the biggest issue with the photo is just that it's Hugh Jackman in the suit.

Now, I love Hugh Jackman. I loved him as Wolverine. But 23 years removed from X-men 1? I don't need that visual of what "could" of been. Gimme the new guy.

But I get that doesn't seem to be what they're doing with this movie considering other Marvel characters I heard were showing up.

I can only think this movie is a satirical send up of the multiverse trends.

I agree. Looks fantastic. He even has the metal brackets on the back of his gloves. When he's wearing his mask (You know he will. They ain't gonna spoil the best part this early) hope they emote Wolvie's eyes the way they do DP's. Then Jackman throws his squinty sarcastic snarl grin? The theater would turn into dude's doing impersonations of gals at Beatles concerts in the '60s.

Would have loved the brown suit instead but, this is an excellent start.

They're already partly done with the Astonishing X-Men team, so I think the remaining lineup is pretty likely. Plus, one's a Wolverine, and even though we got him way back in the early Hasbro days, he's definitely due for an update for those who want him.

I think Morrisson's New X-Men team is very possible, but there's some issues there particularly with Emma. Personally I never cared for those designs but that era was definitely popular.

X-Treme X-men I'm more to the "don't expect to see them" side. The outfits were mostly a mess TBH, IMO anyways. Way too busy and garish. And I don't think that run has anywhere near the popularity as Whedon and Morrisson's did. Even though it's Claremont.
