Ya know...Looking at all this great new stuff makes me realize they REALLY need to revamp DD's sticks. Those are bad bad. The Netflix DD's were pretty sweet though.

The best version is the set of clubs that comes with the three pack. They don’t have the connecting male-peg that makes them one long club and, as a result, they fit better in the quad-sheath and look better in DD’s hands (imo). But, yes, they could be improved even further.

To the thread:

As far as the crestfallen sentiment expressed about SDCC ‘23 goes, I wonder how much of this is attributable to the lack of tie-in for related media, specifically, the films. I’ve always noted an inverted relationship between the general community excitement over these reveals juxtaposed to my personal enjoyment of whatever’s been presented. Basically, if I’m happy, the consensus generally isn’t, and vice versa.

Not being an MCU fan (outside of 2-5 flics) I tend to be more excited by comic heavy rotations, deep cuts, and a focus outside of popular pockets of Marvel. These interests are often reflected in the figs I choose to take photos of; I rarely select popular/topical heroes/villains (or teams) because I’m more of a B-Side aficionado, in nearly all respects.

Currently, there’s no sustained buzz over anything within the MCU zeitgeist and we’ve occupied space within this nadir for some time now. This has worked incredibly well for my collection netting me a Blue Marvel, Kang, classic Herc, Photon, classic Luke, High Evolutionary, a couple of FF squads, Quasar, classic Starlord, Psycho Man, Moondragon, 90’s Drax….and the list goes on and on.

Adding to this idea, I even consume the reporting on all this differently than most folks on this thread. I didn’t watch the live stream. I rarely, if ever, tune in to those junkets. I don’t think anything is wrong with doing so, it’s just not my bag. However, maybe the 24/7 quest for knowledge about these releases is having the unintended result of muting the enthusiasm generated when the actual reveal comes to light.

Again, I’m not judging how anyone else goes about participating in this hobby. It’s all good under the sun. I just wonder about what affect the ways in which we manifest our interest in the hobby is having on said interest in the big scheme. No right, or wrong, but possibly worth thinking about.

They haven't painted his hair on the arms with it sculpted ever though.

Heads up

jwyss234 07-23-2023 12:37 AM

Did they ever announce when the X-Men '97 figures would go up for preorder?

I was also a little disappointed by the reveals at SDCC. The Marvel Knights and Disney+ waves do very little for me. As far as the amount that was revealed,
  1. PulseCon is September 22nd, just two months away. Hasbro will want to save some figure reveals for their own Con.
  2. Looking at the news stories tagged for Marvel Legends here on Toyark, Hasbro revealed a lot of new figures just in the past 2-3 months.
https://www.toyark.com/subline/marvel-legends

As for my own disappointment for what was revealed,
  1. I'm not reading comics anymore. Modern renditions of characters, unless I find them interesting, aren't worth picking up to me. The same could be said for classic renditions of characters that are outside of comics, cartoons, and movies that I've consumed.
  2. The MCU isn't firing on all cylinders right now and it's affected my enthusiasm for those figures. We have Disney's former CEO to thank for that. He put his lackeys in charge and forced Marvel to put out more content than they could handle.
  3. I've been thinning my collection the past couple of months. Because of this, I've been more discerning with my purchases and preorders.

ANYWAY.

Most of what has been revealed is worth buying. Still waiting on the X-Men '97 orders. Blue Marvel is still the worst poster ever. But other than that, good comic-con so far.

Learn to multi-quote, take your medz (cuz the Ye thang ain’t working for you), and throw on some nominally famous wrestler unboxing videos to help you through this latest manic episode :)

I'm saying this out of "character", out of whatever persona I've pretended to be on this forum.

I feel sorry for you. I really do. You're clearly in your late 40's/early 50's judging by your posts on here. An older Gen-Xer that just couldn't get his shit together.

"medz"? "cus the Ye thang"?

You need help.

It's just toys, man. Pieces of plastic. Let it go. Get some help. Find some real happiness.

We're talking about “personas” now as an explanation for your antisocial behavior and antics on the thread?

Sure, Disco. Sure.

I ‘ll believe that once I start believing your other schticks like you are ‘beyond’ people here despite responding to everything, sometimes, even months later and targeting perceived “enemies” for reprisal.

It’s great that you feel bad for me. It demonstrates empathy, which would be an improvement for you.

What’s funny is that if this is a ‘persona,’ you’re in an even worse position, psychologically, because why go through the effort of pretending to be a degenerate...

The age stuff doesn’t bother me, buddy…but aren’t you also supposed to be Gen-X while not liking old-man Gen-X things...

Try. Harder.

Wow. Guess hasbro is gonna be going online only. Kinda glad i dont really collect marvel legends no more. Guess they dont want people waiting for sales and clearances no kore. Just makes it easier to pass on hasbro products. They’re gonna alienate more collectors with moves like this.

And here we are. You constantly spouting a word salad of absolute shit on here.

The best you can do is: "Try. Harder."

What a joke. What a laugh.

For someone engaging in a persona, your buttons are easily pressed.

Keep reading everything I type.

That's a fucking joke considering how upset you were when I posted a :::GASP::: Pro-wrestler giving a toy review on here. You and your gatekeeping bullshit. Sorry if I offended you.

It's not fair how? You're outmatched? You're faced with your insecurities and you don't know what to do?

What do you want on here? Most of what you post is your amateur photography or wanting some obscure Marvel Characters from the 70s/80s that no one gives a shit about.

Oh great, it's some one-shot creepy-ass Claremont creation that no one cares about.

GREAT.

FUCKING GREAT.

I read that the figures will be available in fall so hopefully preorders will go up within the next couple of weeks.

WallySparks 07-23-2023 07:14 AM

Whenever Hasbro makes any new X-Men Storm figure they forget the fact that Storm in the comics has always had blue cat like eyes

Dan said preorders for the X-Men wave will be sometime in August.

I have noticed that. I would love them to do an updated version of Storm's first appearance with her blue eyes and gold arm bands, maybe with double jointed elbows too.

As for the Marvel Knights wave not showing up in stores, that's a bummer, but it makes sense. I only want Blade, but I have no need for him at $25, so I guess I'll have to hope Amazon puts him on sale.

Captain Nash 07-23-2023 07:43 AM

Well I guess everythings been revealed for the weekend by now (probably by Friday but I’m a hopeful optimist for sneaky reveals).

Just one (and maybe Bishop) figure for me, but it’s Justice so that’s a huge win right there. My perceived “quality over quantity” still considers this a good Con.

WallySparks 07-23-2023 07:51 AM

Had to look at the X-Men 97 figure lineup photos to look closely at the mowhawk Storm and it looks like she has blue eyes but theyre not cat like eyes.

So Hasbro did finally make a Storm figure with blue eyes but not having them to be like her original cat like eyes like in the old X-Men comic from the late 1970s to the 1980s

Cool. The next set of Star Wars TVC and TBS preorders go up on 8/10 so maybe the X-Men '97 wave preorders will too.
