Man i wish i would been able to snag one of them suckers. |
https://www.fandom.com/articles/marv...star-sdcc-2023
On the subject of interviews, there’s a pretty decent one up at Fandom. Bullet points: - The Legends guys weren’t really familiar with Crystar; he was a pick from Jesse Falcon at Marvel. - Following the Hawkeye/sky-cycle set, there’s another “vehicle-esque” release coming soon (I am guessing the No Way Home Green Goblin from those leaks). - Namorita is currently on their shortlist of characters since they know she’s the last remaining original New Warrior they haven’t done yet. - They get asked about the New Mutants quite frequently. - Asked about older live-action figures like the recent Toei Spider-Man, Dwight says they’ve looked into it and he’d like to do a Lou Ferrigno Hulk. He also said (in reference to Secret Wars) that we still need the Beyonder, so hopefully that’s a tease. |
I'd love a ML Ferrigno Hulk, along with a Hammond Spidey, Reb Brown Captain America and Daredevil & Thor from the Hulk TV movies.

It also sounds like a classic New Mutants set could be on the table as well, even if they were being cagey with the answers. Magik, Sunspot, Cannonball and Cypher would be great to have in their classic NM costumes. I feel like Karma and Moonstar are close enough to count with that Walgreens release and I honestly don't care at all about Magma. Now if only'd they'd talk about the Thunderbolts for a moment. I guess I should be thankful we got Citizen V, Songbird and Mach...II?IV?...whatever iteration it was, as well as Moonstone in a Thunderbolts outfit even if it's not the Meteorite outfit she used in the original run. Still need that, Atlas, Techno/Fixer (either is fine with me as he wasn't in the comics long as Techno) and Jolt. BOEM II -Call me a precog but I suspect we'll be seeing Destiny soon. Next year seems very likely in all honesty. Then they just need to rerelease Mystique for those who missed her Walgreens figure, thank goodness that doesn't apply to me. Various thoughts, excuse the stream of consciousness on these.. Of course...Feral and Wolfsbane to round out their respective X-Force/X-Factor rosters, and another Rachael Grey/Phoenix for Excalibur, since Nightcrawler's pretty much worn close to the same outfit his entire career....they're starting on Generation-X now....it would be nice to get an X-Factor Jean Grey to go along with X-Factor Cyclops....there's still a lot of Serpent Society members to finish off....with Karnak are they revisiting the inhumans or is this just a one-off?/....we've gotten two Shi'ar Imperial Guard members and it would be nice to have another 5ish of the "main cast"...and finally the Starjammers are already halfway done all within one wave, I think we'll see that finished. I think that's all I've got right up front, of teams they've at least started...without taking into account the overall "Avengers" or "X-Men" roster of some 40 characters each. And even then they'd really filled a lot of those rosters, or at least the more higher profile characters. Doesn't take into account the Acolytes, or redoing the Wrecking Crew etc. |

If anyone is iterested in reading the series I found a free source online https://readcomiconline.li/Comic/The...rystal-Warrior |
I wonder if the tooling for Crystar could be reused for Martinex.
Similarly, wonder if a potential Namorita (yay!) could yield us Marrina. So happy to hear them change their tune about the New Mutants, I remember an interview last year where they said the New Mutants were unlikely. This proves an old Fwoosh adage, which is that as soon as you tell collectors “no” to a character/ team, suddenly everyone wants them. For me, the New Mutants are arguably my biggest ML want, so this is the best news. Plus a female team uniform buck could be reused for classic Kitty Pryde, who IS my biggest want. Didn’t comment on the SDCC reveals, overall whelming. Marvel Knights wave is mediocre, Vance Astro is my definite favorite. |
A tanking Marvel Knights wave will make it easier for me to army build Mindless Ones, so I’m actually hoping the wave warms.
|
Just when I had hoped to buy the new Captain Marvels wave on sale or clearance, I saw that both Karnak and Ms. Marvel both sold out on Hasbro Pulse. I bought both at normal retail for fear of missing out on finding them.

Found the Heroes’ Return Iron Man at Target last week. It wouldn’t scan, so the check-out clerk ran it up at five dollars! Solid figure, especially for five dollars. |

Similar circumstances delivered an army of Kree Sentry BAF’s to me, but I will credit Hasbro for at least making 3 of the 6 figs in that wave army builders as well. Initially, the BAF went for what you would expect: $60-$80 on eBay. However, once the warming began, the cost fell precipitously, and I nabbed at least 4-5 at $35-$40 each. Warm away Mindless Ones… |

I found Black Widow yesterday at Target. Grabbed her even though I'm sure she is going ot hit clearance in about 3 weeks. At least they have a 90 day return policy.
Oh, and they had about 12 Yondus on clearance for $7. |
Moondragon, Super-Adaptoid, Captain Marvel, First Ninja, Clea, Lady Bullseye, Bob, Karnak, Mindless One, and Members of the Squadron Supreme Supreme…
Maybe Hasbro could have given us different versions of figures, but I must applaud them for giving us collectors a different variety of figures to choose from..Many of the figures above I have never heard of, but some of them I will be getting and would have never thought to get if the Marvel Legends team didn’t think outside the box, especially when it comes to their A-List characters…So even though I am disappointed we have not received a Mandarin or updated Ms. Marvel, many of these new characters have pulled me into to buying them, as well as, catching up on my Marvel superhero/villain history… |

Well, I ended up getting Monet for the $17 price as one of my friends found me Fang, Emma, and Kid Omega.
Also, we watched the first two episodes to Secret Invasion tonight. Agents of Shield did this plot better. So far, this show is utterly boring and seems like it solely exists to kill off as many MCU characters as possible while making everyone miserable. WTF??? |

So my thoughts on the Ch'od wave outside of Corsair:
Ch'od - Despite being quite inaccurate (I did paint his fins and nails yellow though), I do like him as a figure even if there is nothing special about him. I'm glad his ab crunch actually works compared to the wobbly bobbly Abomination had. His pet is cool, but he is missing his rifle thing. Or maybe I'm thinking of Raza's rifle. Fang - He isn't Brood-y enough. :D Nah, he's fine I guess. His body, knees, waist pieces of his legs, and elbows are a darker shade than the majority of his arms and legs, so that is very annoying. I still don't get why Hasbro can not keep the shades consistent throughout one figure. I also feel like Fang is too tall. I always thought he was the same size as Wolverine. His headsculpt is amazing. Kid Omega - The only thing I remember about this character is him being someone's boyfriend and getting blown up while going through a Krakoa portal with Wolverine. The new thinner body is fantastic and should be the standard body used for slimmer characters rather than that Pizza Spidey one. I don't get why he comes with a gun but not trigger fingers. It's Punisher all over again in this regard. His face sculpt is good, though it does look like a young Jeff Bridges to me. Not sure if it's just due to the Tron vibe I get from his suit or what. Emma - This figure fucking sucks!!!! Why even make her arms be articulated if you can't even actually remove the cape?? THis is a design that required a cloth cape and Hasbro completely dropped the ball on this one. One of the worst Legend figures ever made, which is sad considering how many the paint job is, especially for the head. I'm going ot see if there is some other body I can at least put the head on so she can be a background bystander. Monet - The body seems a bit bigger for her, but given she has super strength, that might be intentional. Still, she seems a bit bulkier than Rogue, which is weird to me. Face is fantastic looking and I love everything on her is new. Chamber - This one is a mixed bag. The arms seem a tad too lanky and they're using the old pinned legs, which seems like a step backwards. I also don't care for the hipster fire beard. I had no idea this was all one piece with his head as I thought it sat around his head. The jacket is nice though. Overall, I'm glad I either got this wave for cheap or did not end up buying figures from it at all. It's a lackluster wave, but at least the paint apps were spectacular across the board on the individual figures. A shame they dropped the ball on Ch'od. I could do without the fins on the back of the legs if necessary, but why the hell did they not at least correct his fingers????? |
So yeah... preordering the X-Men wave is going to be interesting as I just got offered a full time teaching position for the new school year and I start on Wednesday. lol I originally was just going to be done with teaching, but for some reason I accepted. I'm still processing what the hell happened.

Maximum appreciation for Drax & Heather, who just arrived. A couple of minor gripes, but nothing worth noting. I wish every 2-pack would hit this level of goodness.
Also, congrats on the job, Kain. |

As a side note, why is Michelle Jones still being called Mary Jane in all the merchandise? In 'No Way Home', she says Michelle Jones after Norman calls her "Mary Jane". I'm also hoping for some more Retro Spider-Man figure reveals in 2024 and hopefully some more "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" figures in 2024 for the series' 30th anniversary. Aside from Tarantula and Rose, 2023, like 2022, has left me very, VERY underwhelmed in terms of Spider-Man figure reveals. Quote:
