I was at NYCC over the weekend, and I spoke to Dwight and Dan from the Legends team. We spoke for about 20 minutes. While I didn't film it, they gave me some pieces of information that I wanted to share. First off, they asked if I backed Giant Man and were happy to hear I did. I asked about a classic Wasp to compliment Giant Man and Dwight said "she's coming and she's beautiful." I asked about alternate heads and stuff and he repeated the same thing with a big smile on his face.
Dwight asked me what I would like to see next from HasLab, provided the Giant Man funds. Essentially, if he funds, Hasbro will let the team do whatever they want. The Engine of Vengeance really set back plans that were in motion. I mentioned a new Fin Fang Foom and Dwight told me honestly that if they did him, with lots of articulation in his neck and tail, joints hidden well and really moveable wings, he'd sell between $400-$500. It's hard to hear, but this stuff isn't cheap. Especially if we want it to look as good as it should. I also asked about a Danger Room or other display and Dwight and Dan said they have about 10 concepts for the Danger Room ready to go, but Hasbro needs to support the idea. A lot rests on Giant Man funding. Dan and Dwight asked if I had any characters I was really hoping to see get a mainline release so I said Feral and Wolfsbane in her X-Factor costume. They replied "one of those is coming next year". The Legends teams really are super awesome dudes. I was so humbled that they spoke to me for that long. We actually talked about others things too, but it wasn't Legends centric so I'll keep it off here. I don't think I'm forgetting anything, but if anyone has any questions, please let me know. I'll answer what I can. *Edit: The team really wants to start taking HasLab products on "tour" so fans can see the prototypes before deadlines. They were noticeably upset that NYCC was one of the first times anyone was seeing Giant Man in person. He's stunning by the way. Just looks amazing. |
Isn't Wolfsbane more of a New Mutants team member? I dont remember her or even Feral being in X Factor.
Wonder if the Wolfsbane extra head from the Dani Moonstar figure a couple of years ago will be reused for the new Wolfsbane figure? Quote:

The drama behind these Haslabs with the constant tallies, gnashing of teeth, and endless speculation is a turn off. I actually cancelled my order for two this morning. However, I did replace it with an order for one. If it funds, it funds. I’m indifferent at this point. In fact, I was more invested in the Engine of Vengeance due to Mephisto and Hellstrom. This offering is just Giant Man and maybe a Wasp in a costume I’m also lukewarm on.

That’s kind of how I feel. This Giant Man is a great-looking piece, and I’ll be happy to have him if he funds, but I’m not wringing my hands over it. The character himself is just not “centerpiece” enough for me, so I’ll only be slightly bummed if it fails. I’d feel the same if the Haslab was Foom, the Fantasticar or Blackbird. Now, my left eyebrow did shoot up when I read “Danger Room” as a possible next offering. |
My biggest concerns regarding a playset are what I get for my money and how versatile whatever it is will be. For me, I’d rather get more for less (or more for more) with a talented dio maker. As it stands, I will not back a playset. I would do a ‘series’ (wave is too limiting a term) of figures that would never be able to retail. Pick-em – Star Jammers, Royal Family, Imperial Guard, Spaceknights, Eternals, demonic characters, T-Bolts, or a team fill-out offering that completes many of the squads they’ve left unfinished.

So I'm currently reading the original Secret Wars and I don't know what to say, this comic is so subpar. Half of the characters are acting out of character. Other characters just come off shallow. I've never read an Avengers comic with Wasp, but is she always as vein in those as she is here? Like she is more concerned with her looks at times than being a super hero. Magneto has been weird. Actually, all of the X-Men have been acting off. The plotting is all over the place and sometimes makes little sense. Like in the first issue, all of the villains tell Doom they have chosen him to be their leader, but then he tells them do so something, and they attack him telling him not to tell them what to do. Then, Doom asks the heroes for help, but when they go to help him stand up, he tells them he doesn't need their help, fires at them, and runs off. There are two female villains who apparently were never heard of before now. And the premier of the symbiote suit was quite a let down.
I feel like that this was only good because it was the first time they ever did some big crossover event with various super heroes, whereas nowadays, since it is a regularly thing, Secret Wars has lost the only thing of value it had going for it. |
Secret Wars is great and I'll tolerate no disrespect towards it.
But yeah, I think it tends to get looked back at with rose tinted glasses. I'll always love it for the toy line if nothing else. I have the entire thing. It's probably my favorite line ever. |

I as well had a chance to talk a few minutes with Dan Yun at SDCC, and Lenny from GI Joe team, and they're so nice and open it's always a pleasure. He asked me who I was planning to buy, and I said the just revealed female tropper 2-pack, and then I asked him to do something to issue some new Skrull troopers. I didn't back Giant Man because he's too big for my taste, for me a big baf sized-one (12inches-ish) would have been enough. But he's a very nice figure from the pics, incredible sculpt and articulation. |

I guess they needed to give that Giant Man HasLab a push.

Finished Secret Wars today. On one hand, I'm glad to have finally read it. On the other, wow, that was dogshit.

Now that they've revealed a classic Wasp, I wonder if we'll seen a classic Ms. Marvel next? I've seen this design for Carol show up sporadically since SDCC. Since she's wearing something similar in The Marvels, it seems likely that this is the costume they'll go with.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...23297666_o.png Regarding the costume choice, I truly hope they stick with the more classic appearance without the pants. I feel like the above image for the Jewel may have been altered because of its location and the amount of skin shown in the original artwork. If Hasbro can release Mockingbird with bare legs, this version of Ms. Marvel should be just fine. https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.mR-dzv...289&h=500&rs=1 |
^Yes, that is the costume we need for a classic Carol. Please don't change the body type used for previous iterations (especially now that it’s been upgraded with Jocasta/Moonstone), Hasbro, as you did with that ANAD Spider Woman. And please include a Karla Sofen head with long hair…
Edit: Or, like Binary. |
