During every riot I'm in I like to read The Riot Act to passing rioters.

Okay im gonna have a bit of a bitch, ive noticed over the past couple of weeks how the MU BTS scene on toyark has took a turn for the worst,a while back we got all these great stories about how avengers assemble 8 packs for 25 bucks and spidey sets had been turning up all over the place, yet no one wants to help out fellow arkers with their needs.guys are picking up these sets for next to nothing then taking individual figures and auctioning them for stupid money, now i dont give a toss what the apologists might say about people charging what they want,if you are in it for the love of collecting then you DO NOT profiteer.but i feel that the scalpers who used to lurk are coming out of the woodwork, because most of the old guard are gone so they do not have to worry about being named and shamed.
the irony of it all is these same people are the first to ask you for a good deal when you have something they need.

miketime 12-06-2012 09:59 AM

I agree. Nothing but new members contacting me who want premium prices for items they paid retail for. And when some one wants something exclusive or rare from me I'm supposed to give it away. I had to flat out tell one guy that I was not his cash cow. Just because a figure is selling for a price online does not mean that I or any other respectable arker was going to pay that. Nothing but a bunch of profiteers as you put it. Praying on our plastic crack addiction.

I actually never even saw a Wallmart 8 pack to purchase. But if I had I would not be asking stupid $ for them just because others wanted them. I do miss a lot of the old regulars. It was a lot better when all of the people I was dealing with were establised contributing members and not this influx of capitalist toy hounds padding post counts to look credible.

No offence to any new members. It's just hard to trust anyone new after you have been riped off.

I got the same ethos bro,if its an established arker,i have no problem sending first.but a newby?!?!?hell no,THEY send first.anyway its good that we have the feedback system,it saves a lot of aggro.im just annoyed that all these 8 packs pretty much went to ebay.i got someone heading to NYC tomorrow,so im hoping they hit paydirt on a few wants of mine, other than that ive got my contacts here who are only too happy to deal with me.and yeah its a bit of a BTS ghost town now the likes of LM,PP,SW have headed for greener pastures.

I hear you guys. The people that are out to help the community do exist out there, but just not as many here as there used to be. I have noticed a lot of the newer people putting up BST threads or messaging me have the highest possible values on their stuff and the lowest on mine. You see a lot of this with collectable card games or stuff like Heroclix because the manufacturer creates a rarity system and an instant secondary market which is why people usually drop those games once they see the crazy costs.

I don't mind someone wanting market value for an item that is out of production and has naturally created a value, like a ML BAF or toy from a past line. But I don't like seeing all the Bagheads at every store get bought right away because people think they can flip them for $40-$50. The problem is that the "value" is often created, at least partially, by the scalpers buying up a figure so no one can find it.

At the end of the day I don't think the mods allow you to call people out here anymore and all you can do is just not deal with people that aren't thinking on your same level. Just be safe and don't buy from people who don't have a track record or require them to send first.

interesting comment to say the least Iceman,i seen the same practice happen with ML's thats partially the reason why i dropped that Line,im too far gone with MU to quit now.400+ figures and counting.
im in the loop as far as the who's who on the ark is concerned,so i will thread lightly when trading here i already got burned here so i know what its like to get ripped off,i got my MU guy in canada, and a couple of peeps in the US,unfortunately i had to pull out of a few proposed deals because the items i was looking for turned up on over here or because of a too good to be true deal that popped up in the 13th hour.but i do try to give something back to genuine fellow arkers whenever i am in a position to help and i think i have been as fair as i could be in any deals ive worked here,so far no complaints.
yeah and i totally agree with the whole "baghead" spidey debacle.the only spidey figure i need, yet people taunt me with their multi baghead finds,LOL.hopefully i get him before he winds up like Vision and Blade.

Off topic. If someone is looking for the newest marvel legends. Check out amazon.com, deadpool, punisher, doom, mystique, us agent, bucky cap are like 8-10$ a piece. And its eligible for free shipment if you spend 25$ or more. Good for people who dont want to pay 15-30$ figures online or other retails. Good for fodders and customs for people who customize. Credit to the person whom i read the info awhile ago. Bought 2 deadpools and one punisher cause i dont want to pay 15.96$ plus tax on retail. Good luck. Go to amazon.com and search marvel legends. Hope you can get and order fellow arkers

400 MU figures? You are deep. I don't even know how many I have but I figure at least 100 between movies figures and all. It's hard to get into a line after it's been going for a while because there will always be figures you really want that are crazy expensive. Like, I had a couple of ML years ago but never bought more than a handful (mostly to make the sentinel actually). Trying to start collecting that line now would be not be cheap. Thankfully, I'm not the type to buy every figure, even though I do but most MU figures. Even if I wanted to get just ML X-Men it would cost a ton to get figures I'd want like Cable. If the price is too high it's almost like the figure doesn't exist to me lol.

Yeah, I saw a bunch of good stuff on Amazon today. Too bad shipping to Canada is no fun.

kdawg01970 12-06-2012 09:06 PM

I dont do alot of trading but i am def up for buying and selling w/ Arkers that i know and have seen around for ahwile. Yeah it is fucking bullshit that all the background lurking scalping shitheads are coming out of the closet. But im sure we all know whos new and whos not so just avoid them and they will go ass fuck some other board.

I to am in desperate need of a bag head spidey and have posted about it for months. But i am not willing to follow your link to your ebay auction that starts at $45 or pay you 4x's over what you paid. So guess who doesnt have a bag head, lol.

Snailbot 12-06-2012 10:29 PM

That Baghead is supposed to be in the Prof. X, Blastar, Jubes case. That means that hopefully this overpriced Baghead nonsense will die down.

As for the lurkers, I post over on TFW and the lurkers are all over that site. Makes me glad that I'm caught up on the TF's I want.

Of course, when it ships from the States, to Sweden, and takes 6 weeks to get here, wouldn't you?

I feel for you guys in canada with the postal service thats currently in place.to be honest a lot of my collection is army building fodder.i was a late starter on the MU scene so to be fair i should have jumped on the line when i had the better opportunity, but better late than never i suppose.LOL,you should have seen how much those MU sentinels retailed at when they hit our shores, there was no way i was paying that kinda bread for a poor version of the ML classic, but i did not mind splashing the cash for dark galactus.that figure was definitely worth it.and i would definitely pay good money for figures from the likes of badmoon and Jin saotome,i just wont pay big for retailed figures that are either part of a pack or some super cheap fire sale 8 pack.i do understand that times are harder financially for some folk here,But trying to profiteer from fellow collectors is a low down act in my book.fact is some of these guys are going into this game with the intentions of making big money.

i say change your shipping service dude, thats an odd one when someone based in canada orders something from the states and it gets delivered 6 weeks later to sweden.i dont know what part of sweden you are referring to but it usually takes about 3 weeks for items from the US to arrive in malmo.any later than that then its a customs issue.

and why should you be forced to pay $45 dollars for a $10 dollar figure, even if it is a sought after figure, bro.likewise with those maria hill figures going for $100 dollars a while back.as iceman put it,i can understand the asking price for BAF's and in some cases the price justifies the quality of those figures, but definitely not in the case of some MU,which are just rehashed figures with different head sculpts,in some cases they are only repaints.it would be a nice surprise for us fans if hasbro re-issued the likes of Black panther,Blade and Vision.
