Thanks for the news.

Unfortunately, even the good bits of what you've reported aren't very "good" for me. I'm not a fan of "super-TV" (I'm not exactly wowed by "super-Flicks" either) and I don't do movie figs for the most part (maybe one here and there).

Additionally, I'm not sure how interested I would be in whatever they put out if Four Horsemen Studios isn't involved.

I'm happy that some fans will get service, but the end IS 5 days away for me....

When Mattel returns to a "comic canon" theme featuring strong sculpt-work (preferably with 4 Horsemen) I will be there with bells on. My wish will likely take 2-3 yrs, but I'm a patient man.

I could see them following the path that Marvel Legends went. Movie Tie-In lines

I have a question for you all. What are you planning next? With me I still have a lot of Gaps waves 2, 3, 6, 9, and Public Enemies. Plus the Multipack gaps.

Dr Kain 12-10-2014 06:25 PM

While I would love to see them do Flash toys (it is the best show on TV right now and the greatest super hero show ever), I doubt I would buy them.

I have quite a few gaps....I think I own somewhere between 86%-88% of what they have offered, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a completist. I buy only what I want. That said, I still have some things I desire:

Lobo
Stel
Stripe (maybe...not sure)
Chemo (maybe...but likely)
Parallax (big maybe...really not sure...strange sculpt)
Black Lightning public enemies version (I have the more modern version)
Old timey JSA: Atom, Sandman, Starman, & Hourman (maybe...not sure)
Legion of Superheroes: mostly Superboy, Ultra Boy, & Wildfire...but I do want almost all of them
Superman mullet version (maybe...not sure)
Superman black rebirth suit mullet (maybe...not sure)
Eradicator
Artemis both the amazon and YJ figs
Robin (Tim Drake version...or at least I believe that's who they modeled it on..red, black, and yellow version)
Batgirl Barb version (I have Casandra)
Catwoman black version (I have the purple one)
Huntress
Twoface (Maybe..not sure)
Captain Cold, Scarecrow, & Toyman last three I need for a complete Legion of Doom (maybe...but likely)
Larfleeze
Apache Chief & Black Vulcan (maybe...I loved them as a kid, but I'm not sure)
Wonder Twins & Gleek (maybe...I loved them as a kid, but I'm not sure)
Kobra (maybe...not sure)
Crime Syndicate (big maybe...really not sure)

I think you mean ARROW.

Barefootabe 12-10-2014 09:24 PM

i just want lobo and to complete some unfinished BAFS then ill be done with mattel, for now nyways

Poison Shadow 12-10-2014 09:56 PM

I had planned on buying the Damian Robin, but it just looks awful. Way too muscular, odd head sculpt... I'm a huge fan of the character, but Mattel put no effort into this at all and it shows.

It's safe to say I'm done with DCUC. Never collected it too much anyway... it was more of a flirtation. I bought the Lantern wave and assembled Anti-Monitor, and got Batman Beyond... maybe the 6" Young Justice toys count as a spin-off of sorts... but that's it.

Nope. Some of us prefer our heroes to smile more and actually enjoy their job. Oliver is too much of a sourpuss.

Dr Kain 12-10-2014 10:33 PM

I was planning to buy Damian as well, but not for $35ish. I'll wait until he is on sale with Lurch and Mr Mxy for like $15 a piece and I can get them all in one shipment.

Nope, I meant Flash. Arrow is an excellent show, but it is just crap compared to Flash. Flash is like The Dark Knight while Arrow is Tim Burton's Batman. There is just no contest when comparing the two.

Grant Gustin is one of the most talented newbie actors I have seen in years. Not only that, but the writing and execution are fantastic and they know they Flash mythos. They know Flash. I also love how both shows compliment each other in tone and that they even expressed that in each other's crossovers.

305Batman 12-11-2014 09:14 AM

Yeah sure!

CMIII 12-11-2014 09:34 AM

I really do not watch either The Flash or Arrow I cannot judge. I just hope if they do Gotham figures we get Harvey Bullock.

I am going to pony up for Damien Robin if for no other Reason then he is the Real Final Figure

Yeah I thought Green Arrow was a jokey pal-around kind of hero. Honestly I think using the guy who is essentially Robin Hood for what is meant to be taken seriously is a flawed idea to begin with. Also I hated Man of Steel for making Superman all brooding and shit, that and he straight up killed more than one person which is out of character. I don't read DC anymore, but if I were told that he is all somber and shit now then I'd have to say the movie should still go with the hero most people are familiar with.

Poison Shadow 12-11-2014 10:33 PM

Yeesh. Damian's gonna be around $35? Didn't know that. Well, I suppose I was out based on the price alone.

Dude, I'm dying for them to turn Arrow's Ollie into the "man of the people", more cheerful kind of hero. Ever since Flash premiered, it's just a chore to get through the more grim Green Arrow show every week. Atom has at least brought a lighter tone to it lately. Can't wait for him to suit up.

I'm still hoping for a personality shift for Oliver, though. Recent events should definitely change him somewhat... and it's not like he can get any darker, aside from going full-blown psychopath.

Dr Kain 12-11-2014 10:43 PM

I disagree. The fact that they both are the exact opposite makes them even better. I don't need Green Arrow to be tongue and cheek happiness as it would completely change the tone of the show to the point where it might as well be something else. I like that they are slowly building him up to be Green Arrow rather than it just happening over night.

Speaking of Arrow, last night's episodes...

Heh. Yeah. I honestly didn't think they had the balls to have the fight go the way it should have. They proved me wrong.

I'm not saying the change needs to be quick. Just give the guy a happy personal life at the very least. I guess I'm just very fatigued with "grim and gritty" superhero adaptations, though. I do still enjoy Arrow's supporting cast, aside from Laurel. I don't mean to make it sound like I hate the show or anything. Atom gives it a much needed ray of sunshine... err, pun unintended. I just hope the costume doesn't look as awful as the Blue Beetle suit from Smallville.

CMIII 12-12-2014 06:33 AM

Sometimes it works to have the hero be all serious once in a while. For Green Arrow he was only super serious in the comics maybe 4 times. When he killed someone, When Roy was shooting up, When Mia announced she had HIV, and when he saved Canary.

Dr Kain 12-12-2014 07:01 AM

Yeah, I also think they are slowly working their way to make things a more happyfied world for Arrow.

My only problem with the show is Laurel because her actress just flat out sucks ass. She seems to be getting worse with every season instead of better to the point that I wish they could have her get beaten up so badly that she has to go under reconstructive surgery and they recast her.

CMIII 12-12-2014 03:47 PM

Hell even Batman has smiled.

Stripe and Stel are examples of how much Mattel recycles the Bucks. You can get the Wonder Twins and Gleek without paying an arm and a leg.. I used Ebay and Amazon and got all in mint for under 100 all three together are running 250. I should get something for Christmas all I asked for was an Amazon gift card

TheBlueMarvel 12-12-2014 08:14 PM

@CMIII

Yeah, Mattel and the Horsemen are pretty shameless in that regard. To make matters worse, we fans have acquiesced to such a degree that other companies have glommed onto the technique. The Marvel Legends line has become replete with the very same rampant "buck-abuse" found in DCUC...given my druthers, I'd want a greater number of unique sculpts.

Stel will definitely be purchased. Any character listed without a postscript following it is a must have, while the others represent some degree of fence-sitting on my part. Stripe's articulation seems limited in the shoulders (can anyone confirm that for me?), but I want him to compliment my Stargirl and to round out my modern(ish) JSA line-up (Johns/Goyer run). All the Super-Friends stuff will be saved for last as more of a novelty pick-up....provided they are still cheap at that point.

the objects over the Shoulders is soft Plastic and a singular piece. I'll post pictures tonight or tomorrow.

Dr.Kain spot on I always wondered that myself

305Batman 12-13-2014 10:51 AM

I can't be the only one hoping Mattel returns to 6-inch scale with Batman vs Superman right?

Phantomcrow 12-13-2014 11:10 AM

Here is my theory on how Doomsday fit inside the Burial Suit. After he was defeated on Calaton, they "disarmed" him. They were binding his body to contain his "Spirit", so why not alter his physical body?? I believe they removed all his bone protrusions to complete the binding and burial process. This is why he is so smooth and contained. BUT, Doomsday is an evolving creature, once something defeats him he evolves from it to not be beaten the same way twice. When Doomsday first breaks free on earth his bone spurs are only on his free hand that had been pounding against his containment cell underground. As he fights his way to Metropolis, he is attacked more and more and his body regenerates his bone spurs as a defense mechanism where he is hit and his containment suit is ripped and destroyed. It is not until his containment suit is nearly gone that he regenerates to his full previous state before he was defeated on Calaton. Just my theory since they have never given a reason officially.
