I already got the "X-Men '97" figures for Wolverine and Magneto and I love both. I've been trying to find Rogue, but with no luck. I can't wait to get Cyclops, Jean Grey and Nightcrawler!

@Veronica Mars - Nice photos! How is the cape on the new Storm? Is it better for posing the arms or is it the same as the previous release?

None of the Targets in my area ever had her in store. I also never saw her on the Target website so they may never have carried her. You might get lucky checking Walmart or GameStop if you're hoping to find her locally. She's still available to ship from Pulse and GameStop.

It's the same cape as the previous retro card Storms, I didn't get the VHS Storm so I can't speak to that one

It makes me sad to see the decline in skill of my favorite artists.

A decline in skill or artists eventually realizing why labor over something when they can hack it out, get paid the same and it's still well regarded as a depiction of a well loved character. A cynical take I guess...

As cynical as it might be, it is also a fair assumption. Why bust your hump when your doodles are better than most of what’s out there? I’ve seen some recent (last 15 or so years) commissions by Byrne that demonstrate that he hasn’t lost much of his step when he applies effort. However, that Iceman and the weird perspective of the legless Angel are barely phoned-in when I think of his art at its height…

An Astral Xavier would be neat as well, honestly.

we have the O5 boxset from around 8-10 years ago,l but that's the young young X-men in standard uniforms. Would be great to get this set when they've taken on more individuality in their outfits - Human Beast would be great, Angel in blue, an updated Marvel Girl...I really couldn't care that much about that Cyclops one way or the other but he'd probably be included. No need for Iceman IMO but if we got the other four it would be weird not to get him as well.

Also who went ahead and preordered that Angel? I did..would rather have it in blue but the red looks good too and we need a non-archangel angel from Hasbro (that's not the young o5 set). I know it's minimal but I like that the wings have an articulated spot.

Red is when he was with the team in Days of Future Past, so I definitely want that version just as much as the blue one.

I preordered Angel, but I'm on the fence, I'd rather the blue and don’t fancy dropping another $35 when it gets released

Hasbro ever make a figure of 1970s Carol Danvers Captain Marvel where she's in her one piece bikini type outfit?

The black bikini look? Yeah, in a target 3 pack a number of years ago.
The original red costume? Not yet, but maybe this this year?

WallySparks 01-07-2024 04:20 PM

Yup, when given a choice of attacking an enemy with sharp claws or bare fists, always choose the bare fists. A concussion is better than disembowelment.

I’m really glad you liked them. Thank you! :bow :bow

But yeah, as much as I love me some Shang-Chi and wouldn’t want to be an antagonist of his, I’m running at him ten out of ten times instead of Wolverine! LOL I’d rather look up at the stars, concussed with potential brain damage, than down at my body parts and/or guts...

Found MCU Kingpin on clearance today:

https://i.imgur.com/WB0giIH.jpg

I'm disappointed that his arms are pinned joints. Like seriously? They gave him pinless legs but couldn't be bothered to give him pinless arms? He will be great as a random bald gangster dude, but I can't really say he looks anything like Kingpin to me. He doesn't even resemble Donafrio to me. He looks more like Pruitt Taylor Vince's character from the movie Identity.

WallySparks 01-08-2024 09:40 PM

Your knowledge of Pruitt Taylor Vince only from the old Identity movie frightens me lol. Wasnt he also that fat preacher dude in the Constatine movie years ago?

id believe you even more if you said John Carrol Lynch where he always showed up in movies back then even in frikkin Volcano lol

Yes, he was in Constantine. He also The Cell, Agents of Shield, and that awful Gotti movie with John Travolta.

However, I really liked Identity since I'm a psychological horror fan.

Love those Shang Chi/Wolverine & Shang Chi pics and truly love that Shang Chi figure. Still holds up as a great model.

In comparison to 2023, in 2024 we'll have less Marvel Legends, correct? Hasbro laid off at least a fifth of its workforce, correct? Hopefully the number of Marvel Legends released in Q2, Q3, and Q4 is greater than the number of models planned for Q1? And hopefully there will be more models set to drop in Q2, Q3, and Q4 as Q1 is feeling light.

Agreed, the Shang fig came out spectacularly well. My only druthers are he's too thick (needs to be a bit lithe), and while I know he's often illustrated as generally stoic (steely calm trained assassin/fighter), there should be an emotive head for combat. I'm excited to get another fig of the character. That said, I’ve read many calls for him to be redone with his jacket, but I believe that would be a mistake. I don't feel it would translate well and I think Hasbro made the proper design decision. If they added the robes, they would likely give him the same treatment as the recent Luke Cage and eliminate the ab crunch reducing articulation, which would defeat the point. I don’t need a Shang Chi fig for neutral posing. However, I could use some of his more modern looks: the red and black jumper, or the sleeveless ‘dragon’ tee with baggy pants…
