They really need to make a Felicia with a proper animated Hobgoblin figure. Or maybe they'll do Felicia with animated Morbius. Or Felicia with Flash. Damn, Felicia was thirsty as fuck. They should have packed her with Hydroman.

I just sold mine to make space so I can't take any pics. The paint and sculpt on him are fantastic. The articulation was ok. The biggest problem was the shoulder hinge to lift his arms up from his sides. They were very stiff on mine. He also has the weird ball hips where they're pinned into the pelvis at a 45 degree angle. He's maybe an inch taller than the 80th anniversary Colossus.

I don't think there ever was a digital render of MCU She-Hulk. Going back through Toyark's news feed, the actual figure was revealed in person at SDCC '22 along with the Wakanda Forever wave.

They could just give Shocker a new head with actual eyes this time. A new Lizard and new Deluxe figures of Kingpin and Alistair Smythe in his hoverchair would be nice too, however unlikely, and I'd love a Herbert Landon since Hasbro loves business suit figures nowadays. I would also love re-releases of Spider-Man and Venom, since previous figures for them were sold as exclusives. I also want Green Goblin redone, as the gloves, belt and boots are wrong and the Glider is the wrong shape, but we'd likely get re-releases for villains like Scorpion in a trench coat and removable hat and Doctor Octopus in a trench coat before we get a redone Green Goblin (not that I'd be against trench coat figures for those two). For civilian figures, I'd love to see figures for Harry Osborn and Joe "Robbie" Robertson made. J. Jonah Jameson, Dr. Curt Connors, Eddie Brock, Flash Thompson and Debra Whitman would be fun too.

P.S. I doubt Hasbro would wrap up their "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" Retro wave anytime soon, given how well it sells. The old Toy Biz animated series waves went on a few years after the show ended, so I can see Hasbro keeping it around for a few more years. There are still plenty of A-list enemies, Spider-Man costumes, guest heroes, civilians, lesser-known villains and alternate costumes for existing characters left to make to keep the line going. I'm hopeful we'll at least get Retro figures for Chameleon, Vulture, Doc Ock (in the green-and-orange suit or Armani suit) with bendable tentacles, Beetle, Boomerang, first appearance Mary Jane Watson, Calypso, Speed Demon, Venom, Kaine, Stunner, Octo-Spidey, Lady Octopus and Scorpia before the line ends.

Hard disagree with you on a lot of these mainly because they'd be re-releases of figures from the past couple of years with slight deco changes. The show is 30 years old and despite being on Disney Plus, it's not gaining legions of new fans. I think what we've been given is close enough that most people will need to look up photos from the series to spot the differences. The only retro carded figure that I think needs to be redone is Mysterio since it's his suit from the comics and not the cartoon. Hobgoblin is one that I would like them to redo but I would understand it if they said no. Scorpion and Ock in trench coats is really something for die hards only. As for the civilian characters, it's the same old topic of civilian characters not selling well enough on their own. I think we'll get a couple more in the VHS packs but not in the retro carded line. I'd like Harry and Robbie since they were bigger parts of Peter's life.

Tombstone, Spot, Alistair Smythe in his hover chair, and Herbert Landon are the only characters you listed that would be new. I had also listed Vulture, Chameleon, and Spider-Carnage. Beyond them, most of the villains were one offs and fairly forgettable. I definitely agree with you about Venom and Spider-Man needing proper releases. I honestly thought a Venom without cel-shading would have been released already. Maybe they'll release a "Movie Star Spider-Man" from the finale on a retro card. :D

Re-reading Dan's comment, I think the VHS 2 packs are definitely ending. Most of the X-Men and Spider-Man VHS releases didn't sell that well. But I still think the retro carded Spider-Man line will end in either 2024 or 2025. The last comic retro wave didn't sell very well. A couple of weeks ago, I was in a Walmart that had the back end of an aisle completely filled with those figures. And a lot of Targets had full pegs of that same wave up till the Thanksgiving/Black Friday reset. On top of that, they've done most of the major characters from the show. Even looking at the toy line from the show, most of those figures have been made. Raving Toy Maniac has 22 waves listed for the original 5" figure line but only the first 8 were based on the Animated Series. The following 12 waves were about play gimmicks like Web Splashers or Sneak Attack.

Raving Toy Maniac - 5 Inch Spider-Man Archive

I believe Dr. Kain made the comment a while back that Hasbro has only been releasing retro cards for Spider-Man lately, meaning we haven't been getting any BAFs with these waves. And that's pretty accurate. I think it would be good to change things up a bit and focus on another period in the comics for Spider-Man. I honestly don't know what's happening in Amazing Spider-Man right now, except that everyone hates it. But Hasbro has barely touched the 1610 Ultimate universe. We only received a handful of Ultimate Spider-Man figures from 2014-2016. It would be good to revisit some of those designs. And in another year or so, I would imagine that Hasbro will want to make figures from the new Ultimate Spider-Man series.

Dr Kain 02-08-2024 06:40 AM

Wait, your Walmart got new toys in? Mine hasn't gotten anything since the Bonebreaker X-Men wave. In fact, Darwin and Siryn have been collecting dust for what feels like a year now.

I want a CLASSIC first appearance Hobgoblin. No ripped up costume, portrait and glider similar in style to the Toybiz version. Pinless. It'll never happen.

That's why I would at least settle for a proper animated version as he was the original costume but with Jason instead of Kingsley.

Yeah, I dont really like those ball hips on him but other than that hes still my favorite iteration of the character in figure form. Hes too tall to really scale with ML so I just keep mine displayed with the DST Juggernaut and bootleg Neca Deadpool (who's also too tall).

I could've sworn when the solicts were posted by some retailers there was a turnaround video or GIF that showed an extra set of Shulkie hands.

I vaguely remember Dorksidetoys posting videos like that on their IG. But I don’t remember if She Hulk had one.

EvilMonkeyPope 02-09-2024 11:45 AM

To do the shading right, they need to cast Daredevil in a red so deep it's nearly black then paint the highlights on in the same value as his costume normally is.

TheBlueMarvel 02-09-2024 11:47 AM

^That.

Dr Kain 02-09-2024 04:36 PM

So glad I don't need 90% of Legends anymore. I've been informed my contract for next school year will not be renewed, so I'll be broke again after July. At least now I have 6 months to plan and budget for everything coming out this year.

Captain Nash 02-09-2024 05:52 PM

I can't believe I'm saying this but how about a Spider-Man BAF wave again....am I seeing this right but the last Spider Man BAF was 3 years ago?

Holding out for a Stegron BAF thank you much.

HoovenIV 02-09-2024 09:48 PM

Naw. Need a Spidercide.

Was that the Armadillo wave? Really 3 years? Oof.

I need them to get to Carrion so I can complete Team Carnage already and I believe this year is the 30th anniversary of Maximum Carnage

Stegron, classic Spider-Slayer, or even the Grizzly Dwight teased a few years ago on the Ursa Major mold.

Speak of tooling reuse, it feels like there are a whole bunch of characters that could be done pretty economically. Carrion can reuse pieces from Sleepwalker, Rocket Racer is easy, Will O’ The Wisp is literally just a blank buck, we *still* don’t have a proper classic Kraven, Vermin could be built off the Jackal buck (so could Werewolf by Night) …

… and that’s to say nothing of folks like the Enforcers, Crime-Master, Slyde, Mindworm, Man Mountain Marko, Lightmaster, or Kangaroo that I’m not sure anyone besides me would buy.

It’s largely personal preference (silver & bronze), but I’ve been really underwhelmed with the last couple years of Spider-Man waves.

That was the Stilt Man wave in early 2021. You're right, I forgot about the Armadillo wave, that was in 2022. Not as bad as thought, but we still didn't get a BAF wave last year, and I don't see anything on the rumors/leaks of one for 2024. I could have missed it though.

Some Spider-Man look, Spider-Man India (crazy he had a mini series and they still haven't done him yet!), Calypso, the Squid, Spot, a big name villain and an associated hero, for BAF Stegron, would be a dream wave for me and essentially knock out all of the Spider-Man figures I'd want at this point.

Oh man, shame on me, I forgot all about Calypso & Spot! I dunno much about Squid but like his look well enough to want him.

I’d actually adore an update to Mayday Parker Spider-Girl, given the strides in articulation since her last figure. The old one just isn’t very fun to pose. Similarly, would anyone else want an update to Silver Sable?

I’d like them to start slotting Daredevil bad guys into Spidey waves. Owl & Gladiator both fought Spider-Man occasionally enough to count.

Squid's one of those characters I also knew nothing about, or even had heard of. But the first time I came across his name and looked him up, I knew there was absolutely no way I would or could pass up a Squid/Man hybrid action figure.

Dr Kain 02-10-2024 07:21 PM

Other than Man Mountain Marko, Grizzly, and Gibbon, I'm not sure who else would work best as Spider-Man BAFs. I guess they could do the giant wheel thing or the animated Spider Slayers.

TheBlueMarvel 02-10-2024 08:06 PM

Mud-Thing could be a potential Spidey BAF...

WallySparks 02-10-2024 09:16 PM

anyone happen to know if the Don Cheadle head of War Machine from the Hulkbuster build a figure wave the head fits on fine on the newer War Machine figure or the ball peg on the body's neck different?

jwyss234 02-11-2024 01:11 AM

Some possible Spider-Man BAFs:
  1. Three Arachnid Spider Slayers from episodes 2 and 3 of The Animated Series; would need to be significantly smaller to be BAFs
  2. Humanoid Spider Slayer from later seasons of The Animated Series and comics
  3. Man-Spider
  4. Sandman - larger proportions overall, sand weapons for whole arms, sand pillar lower half; not sure if he should be called "transformed" or "monstrous"
  5. Insomniac villains like Rhino and Lizard
  6. Movie Carnage

Mud-Thing! I loved that storyline as a kid.

How about an update to Man-Wolf? With some effort put in, he’d make an amazing figure.
