Whiplash! She-Hulk! Mark 09!
That's what I'm excited for! Whiplash will help round out the 90's Iron Man villain cast. Just need an era appropriate Living Laser, an actual Mandarin and Hypnotia (maybe a long shot since I think she only exists in that show). That She-Hulk is what I have wanted for a LONG time. The old A-Force box set one is getting taken off my shelf in favor of this one. And the Mark 09 has a lot of personal history with me. Aside from trading cards, the 1st comic I ever got was an Iron Man comic with that armor. So I'm on board!
The others look great but I can pass them up.

EvilMonkeyPope 04-01-2024 03:33 AM

Hasbro needs to recycle Whiplash's energy whip for Senyaka!

Is the IM retro series mass market or fan channel only?

I have some mixed feelings so far, but he is a cool figure. Just not sure he was $40 cool.

All "major retailers" according to Hasbro's solicitations today. It's just been the recent BAF waves that were only fan channel.

what the heck is "Pentagon" armor Iron Man? What is that from anyway?

It's Iron Man's armor from the early 2000s when Tony was Secretary of Defense. The Secretary of Defense runs the Department of Defense out of the Pentagon, hence the armor's nickname. He had a few armors around this time that were very similar (or different artists were drawing their own interpretation of the same armor), but this is more or less the armor Tony wore before the Extremis Armor.

WallySparks 04-02-2024 06:55 AM

Well I never read whatever Iron Man comic that had the "Pentagon" armor so Ill pass

About the ‘Pentagon’ armor… I’m a little miffed about why Hasbro would opt to emulate the Toy Biz version with those ugly trapezius/dorsal fins. Why repeat the mistakes that contributed to the original being an eyesore? The Sentinel version of the armor was so much cleaner as a design, sans the fins, that I immediately reassessed my opinion of the armor for the positive. I hope those fins can be removed.

The smiling head is nightmare fuel

It isn’t terrible in my opinion; I got mine yesterday as well. There’s a cheshire-grin quality to it and the lip-gloss feels a bit much, for sure. However, Warren did smile a whole hell of a lot prior to getting “adjusted” by the Morlocks and ultimately “fixed” by Apocalypse. Additionally, I really think the extra head is a send-up of Brian Postman’s art for Angel in the OHotMU, which I find to be pretty cool.

Marvel Legends “New” Shield 3 pack up for preorder again, after selling out the first go…

WallySparks 04-02-2024 09:28 AM

Wasnt old comic book Dum Dum during the 1980s and 1990s like a chubby guy with the classic bowler hat and didn't have have a magnum revolver?

Yes, but that'd require them to make a new body.

When is this retro wave going to be listed on Target & Walmart? I'd prefer to order from them so they don't cut back on ML's any more.
I did see Walmart has the Zabu wave up for order even though I thought it was fan channel exclusive.

It's weird, but it's the head he had in the Claremont era, so that is my default head.

Interesting about the Zabu wave. I thought Walmart and Target weren't going to be carrying fully comic waves anymore, just MCU and exclusives. Though I have no idea if that extends to the retro looks.

The whole distribution system for Legends at brick and mortar is so screwed up now, I honestly cannot remember the last time actually bought a figure in the store.

I wonder if they're only selling them online and on the Walmart app, not in the actual stores

Iron Man is an A list character like Spider-Man and Wolverine now thanks to the MCU. Retailers want more of him.

Captain Nash 04-03-2024 07:47 PM

Talking about ordering 2 of figures, may get a second Nefaria. The head isn't too far off from Graviton's short haired look, I would just need a body to match it with as a place holder until/if he gets made.

Which, like Nefaria, he's not that difficult of a figure to make. Not a lot of extra tooling, depending on the suit. I have hopes.

Here's hoping too everyone else has been getting the figures/characters they've really been wanting over the last few years. We've come a long way in the line haven't we?

WallySparks 04-03-2024 09:00 PM

not quiet. Still waiting for these to be made

Original Power Pack
Annihilus even though he would have to be a Deluxe figure because of the wings or part of a build a figure wave

Age of Apocalypse Wave 3: still need Bishop, Havok, Abyss, Nemesis/Holocaust as build a figure, Age of Apocalypse Mr Sinister, his outfit is different than regular timeline Sinister, plus AOA SInister had long hair and a goatee/beard

Still waiting for a Marvel Legends figures of Bill Bixby David Banner and Ferrigno Hulk. Heck throw in news reporter McGee, Even Rex Smith Daredevil and Thor. a Incredible Hulk Returns two pack of Thor and Hulk would make more sense though

I'd love to see Hasbro do the original New Mutants team as a box set.
