Nice, I have my movie Deadpool doing the exact same thing except he's sitting on the edge of a shelf. It was just the first thing that came to mind after I finished opening X-spanse itself.

As it was when it was first released indicating there's interest out there. I tend to believe that there are potentially at least as many fans of Surfer as there are of the FF. He did support his own book, which I - obviously – collected, as a committed fan. A title that birthed the Infinity Gauntlet, the comic arc that essentially set up the crescendo of the MCU’s phase ‘whatever.’ I say “whatever” because I became disinvested in the MCU very, very early on. Possibly, around the time of Thor 2, so what they do doesn’t really matter in the scheme of things, to me. My disinterest doesn’t align with anything other than a want for stories consistent with canon. While I found enjoyment in ‘Age of Ultron’ it suffered in my eyes due to Tony birthing the character. The same was true for how Antman was worked out using Scott Lang as the protagonist alongside an elderly Hank. If Norrin isn’t the big screen’s latest iteration of the Silver Surfer, I’ve no intention to watch an FF film featuring such a change. Which is no big loss as I’ve skipped most of the movies.

Whatever the reasoning is behind Disney potentially putting a spin on Surfer’s characterization, there’s canonical diversity to mine among Galactus’ heralds without changing things up. There’s Frankie Raye, of course. Even a Surfer-empowered Alicia Masters. And Stardust has been portrayed as male, female, and ambiguous/fluid throughout interpretations.

All fantastic points. Just look at the source material and make a cool movie. One which actual fans of the character and lore WANT to see. Honestly, I'd rather have a new animated show anyway. Get Studio Mir to helm it. That could be incredible.

The only times we've gotten to see Surfer on screen is the old animated show (Thanos' voice. Shudder bad.) and the other FF turd in which Galactus was a swarm of space bugs or some shit. I thought Surfer looked cool. But he just wasn't right. The whole, "gonna die is separated from mah board" spin was weak.

Anyhow. If the new FF movie results in some great Legends comics wave figures I'll be happy. We still need an Air Walker. I thought for sure we'd get one in the wake of Galactus. I'd also like to have Red Shift. There's also a ton of untapped Cosmic characters from the Ron Lim/Jim Starlin days that would be great additions. You're telling me we can The Orb but not The In-Betweener Midnight Son, or The Elders of The Universe.

The ML DID give us Crystar. So they give me hope. ML Team if you are reading this thread please give us Moltar to go with Crys. Cast him in translucent red then hit him with orange over spray.:D

At this point with F4 comic related figures I'd be happy with Wizard, Crystal and Maximus the Mad. I know those could all go under more general waves, except maybe Wizard. They just gotta find a way to get him in the line, same for Crystal. I don't have realistic hopes for Maximus

Oh, and comic Attuma of course. Definitely a huge want.

Hulkwummy 04-29-2024 04:54 PM

Quick question, are there any work arounds to get characters like Mandarin and Mephisto made into Marvel Legends? Not to mention Red Skull in the same uniform as the toybiz figure.

Thought the movie version WAS the huge variant. ;)

The gordian knot of Marvel’s licensing woes represented a genuine hurdle early on, but many characters are now back under thumb. If only Disney/Marvel hadn’t cannibalized the continuity of the books to bring them in accordance with the movies, they’d have a cleaner tapestry from which to work now that they've reacquired many of the rights they sold. 'Never fuck with the source material,' comes to mind.

As far as the toons are concerned, yeah, what a blown opportunity. Circa 2010 Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was so very well received, Hulk Vs had landed favorably, as did Planet Hulk, and there were talks of Annihilation as the next big project. Then they abandoned everything animated seemingly to avoid confusion within the MCU universe/brand building. Had they kept that energy, they might have been able to ride out this recent spate of doldrums a bit better with something reaffirming the quality of the original stories. Oh well.

And, yeah, with Firelord, Nova, and Morg, we are too deep to stop now on heralds of Galactus. Air-Walker, Red Shift, Stardust, and Tryrant (stretch, but I don't care...) feel like must haves.

Both of my local Walmarts reset their toy departments for the seasonal shift but at the one this included a restock of the latest Infinity Saga assortment. I really wanted to try and get Black Widow on sale like I did with the Captain America in this series but she's been the first to sell out at all of my nearby stores, even at full price, and online she's either sold out or price gouged so I just bit the bullet and picked it up while they had it. The one fuckin' thing that most needed fixing from the last version of this figure is the one thing they left exactly the same. These legs are pretty dated in design and would've benefited from an upgrade like the arms got, but these tiny piece of shit useless little feet NEEDED to be replaced with something better. What's new here is mostly good but with some drawbacks. The gun-holding hands don't even try to get the fingers over or near the triggers but they hold the comic-like pistols included pretty well otherwise. The "widow's bite" energy effect pieces just aren't working for me at all, in the movies these just made little zaps like a taser but these pieces look more like hardened ice spikes to me. The face printing on both heads came out great and I'm glad they still included both options like the original. Overall this figure looks good but is burdened with design flaws from a decade ago come back to haunt me.

I pretty much expected the first Crystal they do will be her black and white Avengers costume

EvilMonkeyPope 04-30-2024 11:19 AM

EE has Ghost Rider for $10 more than others.
These are supposed to be mainline items, but once again they're not listed on Walmart or Target.

hasbroherofan 04-30-2024 11:48 AM

Seems I missed the manufactured outrage of the week. Whoops. It's hard to keep track these days.

As for the FF, I assume as with nearly all the MCU tie-in waves it'll be mostly MCU figures. But if they did slip in some in some comic stuff, Crystal with a Lockjaw BAF would be amazing.

We almost got Mephisto in the Hellcharger HasLab, but since it didn't fund, no dice. I don't know why they can't sell him really, Diamond Select did. I don't know what the work around would be. Online exclusive? I'd love a Mandarin figure. Hell, do the animated look where he was like half dragon.

They could just release mephisto as a deluxe figure. I mean if mcfarlane can release a demon with a damn pentagram carved on his chest at both walmart AND target ( in the normal toy aisles no less ) then hasbro can release a damn mephisto.

EvilMonkeyPope 04-30-2024 05:31 PM

EE reset the price on GR to normal.
Why isn't this a Disney+ wave? https://twitter.com/MarvelLegendsHQ/...02898960974013

hasbroherofan 04-30-2024 06:13 PM

Is there any indication there’s anything about the Mandarin that would require a “workaround” to begin with? A Nazi uniform or very titillating costume is one thing, but I’ve never heard anyone from Hasbro say there was an issue with releasing a Mandarin figure.

Hulkwummy 04-30-2024 06:34 PM

Speaking of Nazi uniforms, For Red Skull in that uniform, just replace the Nazi logo on his arm ban with the Hydra logo.

Select figures only go to specialty stores. As far as Hasbro goes, it's possible there's some kind of morality clause in the licensing and contracts from Disney that prevents certain kinds of characters being released in the mainline, which is why it was ok in a crowd funded project

Hulkwummy 04-30-2024 07:03 PM

Couldn't Hasbro release a classic Mephisto as a Fan Channel or Hasbro Pulse exclusive, or is that too easy?

TheBlueMarvel 05-01-2024 05:21 AM

Mephisto's image is an allegory for the devil. If you've noticed, many Christians are currently rampaging claiming persecution while simultaneously dissolving body sovereignty for women across the country. I can't say for sure what Hasbro's motivation is, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were reading the room...

I wouldn't lump everyone together. I said 'many,' not, 'most,' nor 'all.' There are plenty of Christians that don't support the dissolution of rights or the blurring of church and state. I was raised Catholic and don't support any of that.

Harbinger 05-01-2024 11:51 AM

I just noticed the hallow eyes on the gr screen. That is kinda chinsey but im sure there will be some way to fix it. Its a minor issue.

EvilMonkeyPope 05-01-2024 06:21 PM

I'm just going to attach some foil or tinted clear plastic to the back of the windscreen.
Hasbro isn't releasing Mephisto & Goblin Queen as online exclusives to spite the fans who were didn't fund the HasLab. It's also why Oola & the Rancor Keeper haven't been released in The Black Series either.

Veronica Mars 05-01-2024 08:09 PM

Just gonna leave this here, maybe add it to the conspiracy theories
