they are very slow with their standard shipping..... it took i believe nearly 2 weeks til the 2 batzarros i ordered got to my location.

I made that mistake with TH Batman Beyond. I went with UPS Ground for Doomsday so he wouldn't sit in some out of the way state like Indiana for 4 days before making it to Tennessee.

Who are they shipped through USPS UPS FedEx

I could've swore that I chose UPS but my tracking number is showing it as USPS.

The 4 Horsemen did a great job on these sculpts. Again, definitely some of my favorites from the past 10 years.

From a happier era:

I snapped these quickly, and wanted to put them out there, since this is a DCUC appreciation thread, and, well, there hasn't been a whole lot of appreciation (and deservingly so, LOL) for this line lately.

I'm curious about the steel figure. what wave or series did that Steel come from? its not a newer one is ? i'd love to get my hands on him as well as the cyborg superman and superboy eventually when i start getting into superman figs. all of them with their 90s looks just bring me back.

Barefootabe 01-09-2015 04:25 PM

Steel is from Mattel's Superman line from ca. 2006-2007. That line and the Batman line that preceded it were the forbearers of the DCUC series, and if memory serves, were called the DC Super Heroes series.
I forget the specifics of each wave of the Superman DCSH line, but I remember Steel, modern Supergirl, and Cyborg Superman being in the either the penultimate or the final wave. They were relatively difficult to find at first, and even when they began showing up at discount retailers (after the DCSH line was cancelled to make way for the DCUC line), they were all still pretty tough to track down.
Cyborg Supes was the toughest to find. I was going to school in Atlanta at the time, and regularly checked the discount stores around there (and Savannah when back home), but still never spotted him.

But anyways, Steel is awesome. Like I mentioned a while back, his biggest flaw is that his shoulder pads limit the vertical movement of his arms. Other than that, he is an exceptional figure.

EDIT: Oh yeah, there is at least one variation of that Steel figure. The standard one has a matte grey Superman "S" on his chest, and the variant has a chrome "S". There were rumors of another variant with a bronze "S", but I honestly can't remember if that one was cancelled, or if he is just really difficult to find.
I have both the grey and chrome ones in the pictures, but it's hard to tell the difference in the pics, other than the slight glare coming from the "S" in the second pic.

Yeah, the DC Direct one sells for obscene amounts of money.
I remember back in '03 or '04 when that figure came out, I picked up the Superman and Supergirl figures from that series, but the comic shop where I found them had already sold Braniac, Doomsday, Bizarro, and Cyborg Superman.
A few months later, Cyborg Supes was already selling for ridiculous prices on Ebay :(

i was considering buying him when they had the big sale in december but didn't want to pay the $20-25 dollar price for him. the box it came in looks too. it would look cool to have the white box next to the figure in the clear display box and loose one next to them if you had the space.

While i looked at their big sale their having today, nothing really caught my eye... maybe when they have their next big one with the prices slashed down dramatically i'll pick up a 2 of him and a few of the batman beyonds.

kenm2474 01-15-2015 08:04 PM

Huge difference between my custom and the official just wow.

man that is such an aweosome figure..mine should be in tommorow

mattel knocked it out of the park with him

Frank Richards 01-15-2015 08:22 PM

Aw man, I really really hope my Doomsday shows up tomorrow. He's been "in transit" to Atlanta for days now and my patience has all but disappeared.
After waiting two months for him to ship, I'm eager to finally get him.

That's because Mattel gave us the real Doomsday, not that New 52 bullshit.

you don't like the new 52? i've enjoyed it so far.

Dr Kain 01-16-2015 05:41 PM

No I don't. It's poorly written, half assed, and DC can't seem to figure out the continuity in it from their asses to their dicks. They start one storyline and can it half cocked like a teenage virgin as they move to some other convoluted bullshit. They had writing problems before the "reboot," but it was hidden. The halfboot (since that really is what the N52 was) glorified all of their piss poor writing to a T. Reverse Flash is NOT supposed to be Iris' brother. Wally IS supposed to be white. Billy Batson IS supposed to be a kind hearted kid who didn't let his poor upbringing ruin his character (which is why he was chose to be Captain Marvel NOT Shazam. Shazam is the name of the spell!!!). Also, how can Blackest Night have still happened if Superman never died, Crisis on Infinite Earths never happened, etc? How did Batman go through 4 Robins in just five year's time? How come Starfire (or Slutfire, as I now call her) knows that she fucked Dick before if there was no previous Teen Titans team? Darkseid was now once a farmer, which completely changes his personality. Alan Scott is gay now, even though he has kids.

Then you have the whole super heroes can not get married bullshit from Dido.

The New 52 is just a mess.

Frank Richards 01-17-2015 01:42 AM

My Doomsday showed up today, and he's incredible! I honestly wasn't sure if Mattel was still capable of producing figures like this.

Now that we're all happy and opening our new Doomsdays, and most of us are no longer out for blood and calling for Mattel's staff to commit hara kiri, lol, I'm curious to see if anyone at Mattel is going to man up and address the Doomsday delay debacle by issuing some sort of apology or sincere explanation. With the DCUC line now ostensibly over, and Mattel no longer having to worry about the customers, I'm assuming that they're just going to contentedly let their uninformative posts at the Matty Collector forums serve as their official "apology".

Oh well, I'm not too concerned at the moment, lol. I'm enjoying my Doomsday and also enjoying the knowledge that my DC purchases for the foreseeable future will solely be from DC Collectibles, and not Mattel.

Dr Kain 01-17-2015 09:01 AM

Actually, I think Mattel's staff has already committed hara kiri. Have you looked at the MattyCollector forums? There are a countless number of unanswered Ask Matty posts in all of their respective topics, especially DC. Also, the Super Powers figures have completely disappeared from their site. I guess I should start going to Big Lots.

EDIT: Helps if I read your full post. lol
