Spiral was a great figure. I also saw a lot of votes for '97 Wolverine and my personal single release pick Black Widow Target Exclusive. I thought Ultimate Cap was also really well done. My favorite release was The Blob, but I always consider Deluxe and BAFs in a different category due to price point.

Will be the first whole wave I've preordered in a while. They may go on sale but I want the whole wave and with stock harder to come by these days I don't feel like risking it. Especially given the suggestion that this wave might not hit retail.

If they're not going to sell them in stores then just sell them to me in a blank white box for $5 less.

that's stupid why alienate the comic figure collector like that. MCU figures pegwarm like nobody's business this coming from an MCU collector.

Comic collectors should be able to walk into a Walmart or Target and find figures there

It's because of the "wait for Ollie's/Ross/Clearance" set. Retailers like target and Walmart aren't going to pay for product that they're going to lose money on

No he didn't. He said the more odd ball waves and assortments would be fan channel exclusives. We've had a handful of comic waves at retail stores like Target and Walmart. The waves that I've either seen or purchased at Walmart or Target in 2024 are:
  1. Spider-Man Retro wave with Scarlet Spider and Spider-Shot
  2. Iron Man Retro wave
  3. 85th Anniversary Assortment
  4. Secret Wars

There have also been store exclusives like the Retro Carnage and the Sam Wilson Captain America at Target. Walmart had their own exclusives but they rarely make it to stores. There was also the second X-Men 97 wave. While it is based on a cartoon, the designs are based on the comics and the figures can easily be used in a comic display.

Even the recently announced Spider-Man retro wave with Kaine and Spider-Man Unlimited are going to retail, which was specifically stated in the live stream in December.

2024 has been an odd year for the line. They've moved away from having the traditional 10 to 12 BAF/retro waves at retail. Instead they've done more 2 packs, deluxe figures, reissues, and smaller assortments for movie figures.

Veronica Mars 01-06-2025 04:51 PM

Also aside from the 85th wave, all of those were retro cards, I'm guessing because they have more visual appeal.

Let's be real though, Target did it to themselves by putting the products on clearance like a month after they came out.

Um...

What stores carried Iron Man and the 85th stuff?

My Walmarts haven't carried anything new for Legends since the first X97 wave. In fact, the Walmart down the street from me currently has X-Cutioner, Darwin, and Siryn warming the pegs for where Marvel is kind of located. Most of the toy isle at my Walmarts are now TMNT, Godzilla, Nintendo, and WWF. Stores don't really carry much of anything from Hasbro at all anymore.

Both Walmart and Target here in CA had them. I haven't seen GI Joe in stores in a good long while though

I’ve seen the Iron Man wave at both Walmart and Target. In fact, some Walmarts still have a couple of the IM wave figures left.

I’ve only seen one of the 85th figures in person. But looking at the figures on the Target website last summer/fall, I could see others become available for in store pick up. Which means the stores in my general area actually had them.

Some Walmarts near me get GI Joe, but not very much. I think they’re still wary from all of the Snake Eyes movie figures, Lady Jayes, Flints, and Cobra Commanders from a few years back.

There's the wacky distribution system at work

redfox 01-06-2025 10:27 PM

Haven't heard of anyone else finding this yet, but I spotted a full case of Namor from the Void BAF wave at my local Ollie's.

None of the other figures in the wave, just Namor. Was really hoping to find a stray Power Princess or Crystar.

Shit! And here i am snowed in till god knows when.

Spoon 01-07-2025 11:34 AM

Toys are also 40% off at Ollie's thru the 12th.

I remember Dan saying the Mindless One Wave would probably only be online and wouldn't go on sale, although figures have been on sale @ Amazon.

Sounds like per usual the distribution depends on your area. For Hasbro Transformers has expanded while Classified and Legends have gotten smaller or disappeared at the retail stores near me, excluding Gamestop. MOTU & McFarlane has also gotten smaller while TMNT, Wrestling, and Video Game sections have expanded. I usually only see 1 or two of each Classified Wave and sporadic Legends Waves.

Closest Ollie's is 1500 miles away:(

Nemesis wave is also up on Amazon. Was trying to get the links up but my internet connection is spotty today so I'm skipping that, since this is my fourth attempt to do so. It wasn't too hard to find.

Did not even see this wave at my local Walmart or Target…Looking for a Power Princess, don’t want to pay scalper prices, until all else fails…

Note: I have to see that new Nemesis in hand…Not alway sold on him…
