It could be Hasbro's fault or it could be (and most likely is) a distribution issue from the retailer. There have been a number of examples over the years of stores sitting on figures in warehouses. The Nemesis wave was a prime example. Hasbro had shipped their entire order to them and walmart sat on it for almost a year before shipping it to stores.

warmachine6 03-07-2013 05:14 AM

i think hasbro should make these in 6" as a wave 2 and others for wave 3

I know this has probably been posted elsewhere already but what's the difference between Hit monkey Wolvie and Archangel and the SDCC 3-pack version just the paint apps right? I'm at my LCS and I'm contemplating whether or not I should spend $25 each on those two now or wait til later (have to get them eventually for volume 2).

kenm2474 03-07-2013 06:20 PM

Just paint.

roshan 03-07-2013 07:45 PM

Ending up passing on them. That double packed wolvie should be easy to find in stores. But I just couldn't go any longer without having a Red She-Hulk or Hyperion. Plus they had the MS Venom and Rhino, so those were higher priorities to pick up too.

behindthemask 03-07-2013 07:55 PM

Awesome pics Fancy pants, I will have the ability to take some similar pics soon, Picked up Marvel Select Venom!!!!, and Iron Patriot! Along with some other goodies. Got a new ride for Hawkeye.

Well the thing is Hasbro is still to blame a little. I think some stores did not want to order the variants for the same wave thinking they will be ordering the same figures, you know what I mean? and Hasbro is not helping them selves by selling the hit monkey wave now.

The Hit Monkey wave is the first 2013 wave. The first wave of a year usually hits around the first of february when the post-christmas resets are done. Nothing really abnormal about the timing of it.

I would agree that the idea of running variants has always been a hit and miss proposition. I can't think of very many times where a running change went off without a hitch. I still think 50/50 case splits would have been preferable and more profitable to hasbro in the long run. But only if it's a 50/50 split down the line. You can't have a variant on the shortpack and have your double pack standard figure be the same from case to case. It leads to glut and peg statues. Having double packed big named characters is fine, but they have to have a variant if they are available. Wave one worked well on this with two steve rogers, two iron men, two ghost riders. The risky figures of Claw, Constrictor and Hope had no variant and that worked out well. The second wave had a cap without a variant and a spidey and wolvie who's variants took months to show. Those figures stuck around for a while and the Bucky Cap still sits on a lot of shelves when everything in the wave is gone.

The opening wave to a year is crucial for steady movement in waves the rest of the year. If you clog early, it's going to be a bad time.

Yea it would be nice to have a snipeless blade

behindthemask 03-08-2013 01:27 AM

Blade,Moonstar, Future Foundation Doom would be nice.... they'll surface, the questions are when and where. I still haven't seen Wave 3 or Hit Monkey wave hit retail near me, I like a lot of the figures, but not enough to pay shipping/Ebay costs on top of retail costs. I was at Walmart today and seen they restocked ML figures but it was just the Zola wave, was tempted to grab Thor, for my wall of MOC, but too broke. MS Venom did nicely instead plus grabbed Patriot to get the baf piece. I just hate having to wait until fall to get the remaining 3 figures.

My LCS has Wave 3 Marvel and a lot more others that I don't need..

As soon as wave 3 hit, I bit the bullet and got some online members to hook me up with x-force Deadpool, and Iron Man. I wouldn't mind getting a US agent figure, and Punisher. Mystique I believe I can get from Marvel Knight on here, and doom kinda doesn't interest me. I mean if I saw him at retail might be different. Hit Monkey wave I broke down and got Protector from a Chinese seller, great figure, just didn't come with baf pieces. If anyone has extra or doesn't want to complete Hit Monkey and buys him let me know. I will probably get that whole wave eventually, Shehulk, Hyperion, look great, Get cap to add to my Cap collection. Wolverine because I really don't have many figures of him, and Archangel,.. so ya I want to get the full set, just broke at the moment.

The first ML I've gotten in years and I love it. Now I'm debating on whether or not I'll get the others so I can built Iron Monger.

I've found them at my Walmart they're charging $19.82/figure+ tax comes to like $21 something, so to get all 6 figures is over $120, I bought the first 3, but think it's stupid the last 3 won't drop until fall. I really hope they do drop.

snake5289 03-09-2013 12:41 PM

That's a bummer. Mine was only 14.99 and with my b-day coming up I may at least get the classic IM armor. It is odd that the movie suit won't be out until a while after the movie. I'm for sure getting that one though.
