Unmasked Spider Gwen!

Black Arbor 07-11-2015 01:10 PM

Went to a toy show in Ohio today, had a pretty good haul, but my find of the day was a Toybiz ML Giant Man wave Thor for ten bucks!

VonPooten 07-11-2015 02:17 PM

Unmasked Gwen is just Magik's head with new hair. A bit disappointing, but not entirely unexpected.

Wasn't Hasbro's ML panel supposed to be today? Can't find any news on it.

Very nice score, considering you'll pay at least twice that on eBay. That's still my favorite Thor. The Hasbro offerings are way out of scale. Nice sculpts with great detail, but too big...just like the Wrecking Crew.

donmeca2020 07-11-2015 03:16 PM

any more info of new figures being voted on? i want a symbiote spidey !!!

ChuckSass 07-11-2015 03:22 PM

Spider-Gwen is going to be the best. There isn't even a maskless Peter Parker but Gwen came through within a year of her creation, has a figure which includes a maskless version. That is amazing.

The panel starts at 4pm PT today.

So..no Enchantress I guess. Lame. Sorry, I'm really not feeling the character selections again. And I think maybe it's one year too many. I foresee very few purchases from me for either line next year.

*shoots wishlist to hell and back*

Enchantress was asked about in a Q&A. Stall said that she and any other Asgardians would have their chance when the next Thor film makes its round. Makes sense as she wouldn't fit in with a Captain America release.

Oh I realize that. She would make sense for a 2017 Thor wave. I just wish they had had some kind of pre-mold image ready or something. I don't know, I know the figures they are selecting are on some people's wishlists and I'm glad they're getting those figures, I'm just getting tired of seeing at most 1 or 2 figures from my wish list getting made each year.

That said I'm thrilled we're getting Mockingbird, less thrilled she, Moribus and Silk may be the only figures I purchase. And Silk and Moribus weren't even on my wishlist.

I'd also thought that by removing any expectations of X-Men figures my disappointment would be less, but it's not. And that makes me even more sad, like this line is just not for me anymore.

Charliegone 07-11-2015 05:57 PM

Of course Symbiote Spidy wins today....not that I wouldn't mind it but that figure can be easily made and you don't need to waste a fan vote on that! I just hope Sif or Executioner something we haven't seen before wins.

Way too early for anything like that. We barely got info and pics on the two waves for early 2016. I really wanted her too though.

He really couldn't lose. With only Malekith, Lyra, and Quasar, he didn't truly have any strong opposition. On the opposite spectrum, they pitted Angela vs. Nebula and Sif vs. Executioner.

so when are these figures that everyone is voting on supposed to be released??? any links to where you found out they won?

nm... i saw the slides !! so what when should that spider-carnage come out? i tell you considering im a big spidey fan, all the figures they've released as of this year and next year i am in heaven !!! i know my wallet isnt but i am lol

Trivial Psychic 07-11-2015 07:40 PM

Again, if Symbiote Spidey wins, I'm punching a pillow in the face. Right...in...the...face...

I'm thinking the Spider-Carnage will be the swap figure for Venom. Makes the most sense to put him there. They are gonna have a tough time topping that original Toy Biz mold from the 90's though. While the articulation stunk on that figure, it's still a work of art that holds up today.

TheBlueMarvel 07-11-2015 08:21 PM

Wow...I can't wait for Nuke

If they were searching for Cap enemies, I could've given them better suggestions than Nuke. Baron Blood (oh, would I love to see a Baron Blood)? Flag-Smasher? Anyone from the Serpent Society and its numerous, numerous members....but hey, Nuke's on the way and he comes with...GUNS.

Strange, I place him as more of a Daredevil enemy...I guess he must have had some recent dust-up with Cap that I'm unaware of...There were many character misses for me this year. At least I can take a break from case orders. I do like Absorbing Man (excited about him), Speed Demon, Morbius (saw a properly painted pic), Mockingbird, Cap (it's all about the boots baby), Taskmaster, and Namor (whenever he arrives will be a good day indeed). So there will be some things to snipe off eBay...overall though, I'm left a bit flat at the selection (it was bound to happen some year).

Quasar would have helped a great deal, but that isn't happening.

You won't be the only one punching a pillow! Also, Spider-Carnage will be an extra head and hands with the Ben Spider-man figure.

Nuke has been a figure they have been trying to get out for along time. If you look back he was one of the figures in the 2009 fan poll.

305Batman 07-11-2015 08:36 PM

So no new MCU figs?

TheBlueMarvel 07-11-2015 08:50 PM

@redfox

I vaguely remember seeing him...I'm not excited about the character at all...obviously. To think, I've read complaints about Cosmo...HA. I absolutely prefer Cosmo over this generic gun toter...Nuke fans rejoice! I'll take a break...

Edit: What are the odds on Nuke peg warming? Likely the same as Cosmo! LOL

That's pretty damn ingenious actually. Sad thing is...I HATE Ben Reilly Spiderman. The Clone Saga represented everything that was wrong with comics in the 90's. So while I'm sad I'd have to pick that one up, at least I know that I don't need to keep him as Ben Reilly, and Spider-Carnage is there.

I'm curious, now that we know we are getting a second Venom head, I wonder if it'll be Brock, or if it will be an open mouthed version. I'm hoping for Brock personally. It would allow me to retire my Venom custom altogether. (whoops...just saw pics of it...it's an open mouthed, tongue-y version...) Hopefully the plethora of Captain America unmasked heads that I have will work...

Just curious...does anybody notice more than a passing resemblance from the new Venom that's coming, and to this guy....

The size and shape of the eyes, the way the teeth are done, the open left hand? Sometimes, what's old is new all over again. =)

EDIT: (Man does that promo shot from Hasbro of Morbius look sweet! If only we had a BLADE to go with him!)

According to the Hasbro reps, no more figures from Age of Ultron. Didn't mention Ant-man, but I'm assuming they are done with it too.

Not a fan of Nuke myself, but I'd love an articulated Cosmo!

ChuckSass 07-11-2015 09:18 PM

I really hope Angela wins. Id have loved a nebula. we probably could have also gotten an infinity glove with her but of course we can't have enough Spider-Men

Where. Is. Blade. Although, I'll be the first to admit that the Sticky Fingas'-motif Blade (bald head) does not represent my favorite version. I prefer the Wesley version, or better yet, the original afro-sporting Blade.

With no chance at Quasar, I'm now pulling for Angela.

The old Toy Biz Wesley still holds up decently for the most part with some simple mods...but I want a comic version already. I'd settle for that one on the crappy Nick Fury/Punisher buck they showed off years ago at this point.

Oi, respect your elders! Lady Sif is still in the running!:D

I really don't know how tomorrow's poll will go with Executioner, Mysterio, Lady Sif, and Cosmo. Kind of a tough choice.

TheBlueMarvel 07-11-2015 09:45 PM

@Trivial Psychic

I hear you, Psychic. I'm also willing to take ANY Blade at this point. I just despise the decision to make Sticky Fingaz' Blade on the TV series...and Onyx as a band, on general principles...old 'skool rap fan here.
