@diablogunner Originally Maximum Hulk was the #1 figure I wanted most this year. Then I saw the face sculpts and it was the most disappointing Marvel Legends figure I've seen all year, so I passed on it. I still want a proper savage Hulk with better face sculpts and hair sculpts. Also, I'd really just like to see Hulk on the Secret Wars packaging since he was supposed to be in the 1984 toyline, but he got left out. There are so many characters I would love to see for "Secret Wars" that my wishlist would easily cover at least three more waves. I'm surprised Volcana hasn't been made yet. I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one who wants an updated Doctor Octopus. I missed out on the last one and I'd really like to get a non-exclusive, sold separately Doctor Octopus with bendable wire tentacles. I'd even settle for Kang, Doc Ock with bendable tentacles, Dr. Doom and Magneto so we can at least get the four villains from the 1984 Mattel toyline made.

while I'm personally fine with my Wrecking Crew figures, I can understand why some people would not be and I'm \hoping that they come in the Secret Wars line. Kind of surprised they haven't been done yet.
The figures are relatively old and outdated, which for me for these particular characters is not a big deal, but some people want better sculpes and some missed out on them completely due not being in collecting game at that point. Wasp and Volcana make really good candidates for the female figure of the wave(6). Dont need them personally, Volcana is not a priority, and since I already have several Wasp figures, I'm good - the list of "alternate looks for existing characters in the line" is pretty short at this point. |
I think I'd only need a SW Wasp if I was doing a dedicated SW display, which I've considered, but I'd have to get doubles of figures I already have or rearrange my existing displays neither of which I want to do

I hope Absorbing Man comes in his purple pants look, and Falcon in his more classic costume.

I finally got my third case for my Marvel collection and finished getting everything on display. Well, kind of. I ended up having to put a few left overs in the corner of the DareDevil shelf as I had nowhere else to fit them. I also forgot to include Iron Spidey, DOH!!!

Did anyone else notice they used the Walgreens Mystique head on the Target retro, but the all the art on the package has the VHS Mystique head?
I would have preferred the head in the art. It seems Hasbro gives zero shits about being accurate to anything. https://cdn.media.amplience.net/i/ha...w=320&fmt=auto |

It's not the first time they showed Mystique wrong on the package as their shots of the animated one had double jointed arms while the actual figure did not. |

Yeah, I don't get the point of giving us a Jean head with Mystique. Shouldn't that hve been packed with the 97 Emma?
Why not include an unmasked Destiny head? |
I received the Mandarin Extremis Iron Man 2 pack this morning. I said a few weeks back that I'd be ok with a suited Mandarin making the pickup a no brainer, but I was also curious about the retooled Extremis armor (my fav IM suit). While the only true upgrades on the buck are to the neck and shoulders, I'm happy I nabbed it as it is an improvement that works well for people that like posing figures. Hasbro seems to be at work creating new options for shoulder and neck articulation and balancing the aesthetics of form with the utility of function. The neck has a lower ball-hinge that also allows for swivel articulation. It improves the range of motion and, while we have seen this feature on other figs, Hasbro appears to be perfecting the execution of the joint. The shoulders are a complete overhaul of the butterfly joint. The figure features a deeply set butterfly with a textured cuff surrounding the peg which is abnormally long. The result is pretty successful IMO. I definitely recommend picking the fig up on resale, which I anticipate reasonable prices for given that most will assume the buck hasn't changed from the previous iteration of the Extremis armor.
Edit: I neglected to mention that Mandarin is ok. The head sculpts are fair and they've added a new tie and quarter length coat. |
My Emma arrived today from Amazon. Gosh, I love her!

Got Mandarin/Iron Man and Sunspot today.
Sunspot looks great and I'm really hankering now for a new Mutants/generic outfit for Magik and Cannonball. I know the Karma/Moonstar outfit doesn't fit exactly, but it's close enough for me. Mandarin is great for what it is which is a Hasbro Mandarin figure. I said I'd happily buy a suited Mandarin even if it's not in my big wants for looks for the figure. I'm just extremely happy to get him at all at this point. The hands with the 10 rings is a really nice touch. Iron Man is...eh, another Iron Man I don't need. But since I definitely wasn't passing on Mandarin, it was necessary. Onwards to waiting for Shuma Gorath I mean Gargantos and Deathbird. and that Gladiator I definitely do not need, and honestly probably Rachel Phoenix to arrive before the end of the year with the way they're shipping things early. |
The only character from the cover of Uncanny X-Men #275 not confirmed is Zaladane. Maybe she'll be in a 3-pack with Garokk The Petrified Man & buff Polaris?

So we'd have a female villain, a Polaris (one of my favorite characters) and a fairly obscure male villain. Gah, I know they're not on the cover but I wish Hasbro would just release an Imperial Guard set like they did with Alpha Flight. What's everyone's takes on a pack like that? 5/6 figures: Gladiator (I realize we'd have no need for this, but he would be low effort inclusion. Oracle - the only Guardsman I could see coming in a wave instead of a pack at this point, but she wouldn't be too difficult to do. Mostly headsculpt work. She's also one of the higher profile members so I think she'd be a certain pick (which is also why I say that she could be in a wave slot as well) Manta - personally think a really cool visual, and actually wouldn't be that difficult to do. Smasher (male) - another that wouldn't be at all that difficult to do. It's basically Wonder Man in less flashy clothes. Starbolt (original) - Between existing figures (Dormumu, Human Torch, Firelord) I thnk this would be pretty easy to do.The head would be the biggest work. 6th place would be either Hussar or Mentor. Not sure which though. That would get us up to 6 or 7 members total, if I'm remember rosters will and not forgetting any non-classic members. I'd absolutely love a Warstar but I could see that being a BAF instead. Defintely on the level of Sasquatch in terms of Alpha Flight, so not for this set. Unless they wanted to release Warstar, Oracle, and a third member (probably Gladiator because it's Hasbro but I'd really prefer it to be someone else). That would at least get us to 4 or 5 members and would be the lower end of sufficient for the team roster. Thoughts? It's kind of been my hopes for an Con exclusive to be honest, and has been for a few years now. |
