Well finally happened upon MI for the first time today. Picked up Grim reaper and Hyperion. No Wasp I think I used all my luck finding Mara Jade at the previous stop.

kylactus 04-10-2014 07:48 PM

In fact, if not for the needed brand recognition. They could almost go two labels. Sword and shield. (Cosmic and Earth.)

that's my point! the line was originally "Fury Files" implying Nick Fury, director of Shield's files! then when the comic went Hammer so did the line and I thought that was cool, they should have kept it going and when you get a guardians movie switch it up to Sword and go heavy on the cosmic for a series (and you could still put in any character as they've all been in space at some point). but I liked the concept of sticking to the current story lines with the card art as well as the insert file cards, hell they could have gone to a NOW theme to cross-promote there new titles! all I'm really saying is that, yes you can release any character under any banner in the marvel universe and rationalize it but the easiest way to avoid shooting yourself in the foot would have been to keep it Marvel universe...IMO

Kernel 04-10-2014 07:54 PM

^ yeah I agree, the new packaging doesn't even say avengers, just release new and cool figures! It isn't rocket science lets not make it too complicated hasbro. They should release that bag parker head on a spiderman as an alternate head.
I went to a few ross stores and saw several GOTG and F4 team packs, I was hoping to find a clear sue storm but they all just had the regular one, which I already have.

rea1180 04-10-2014 08:43 PM

Kernel, are you looking for clear Sue at discount or just at all. I've seen her floating around quite a bit in our area not too long ago. I'll keep an eye out for you.

ukmu 04-10-2014 11:12 PM

I love waking up and reading this thread!!! You guys are ALL great! Here's to the best Friday ever!!!

Hope I get my Baghead today....

Got some new art supplies in, I will drawing some Marvel this weekend. In honour of Raf giving away a rare treat... I have offered a 'runners-up' prize of a beautiful hand drawn picture sent to their door of...The Vision. It is the next best thing to plastic.

ukmu 04-10-2014 11:16 PM

going to working on customs (finally) over the next couple of weeks. School is out for two weeks here for the Easter holidays. I have it on my books to take time off for 1 hour each day and work on customs with my 8 year old son. He is the reason we are collecting today! The number 2 job of a dad (after security and wellbeing) is to provide memories....

These memories will be Marvel Universe memories that he will cherrish forever someday when I am long gone. I plan on making it the best memory I can!

I want a Vision to finish off my west coast team and he also ties the two Avengers teams together if I happen to win one cool if not im sure a movie version is in the works. This is a cool contest way to go Raf this is a awesome gesture.

Thanks, I have copied your answer to my files.

3233rafael 04-11-2014 01:19 AM

Hope everyone's doing well. I am working different hours now so it's harder for me to keep up with everything that's going on as I used to. I have 12 ARKERS participating in the VISION contest as of today. One more day folks... Good luck to all!

AndreWebs 04-11-2014 12:40 PM

A long time I didnt read this thread, well nice topics all of you talk about, and yeah I have to say that the new name of the line didn't do anything

ukmu thats a lovely legacy you are doing with your son, my respect to you sir

And speaking of customs Im working too in some of the movie and comic Spider-Man figures

kylactus 04-11-2014 05:06 PM

nice to have you aboard Andre! so I looking at my first MI figures today as I was considering where to display them... and the packaging is cheap as hell! the only thing I like about the new packaging is the way that the background on the back of the card has a matt finish and the actual pic of the figure is super glossy, that I have to say is some classy shat... but the rest of the packaging, lack of color, lack of distinctiveness, lack of numbering, dollar store knockoff shape, size, and feel, and the thin flimsy cardboard, all kind of let me down. my best comparison would be the old fort Knox Capri sun boxes V.S. the environmentally friendly new crap boxes that when sat on destroy all pouches inside. the plastic on the bubble is even thinner! I wonder if this wasn't part of some green movement to reduce toy packaging?

I'm looking for her at a discount. I've seen her a few times but I don't want to pay the $30 at TRU or $25 at wally's just for one figure. Hasbro really killed these team packs. It's great that they are at discount stores for those who missed them before, but I really liked those team packs. I think I have everyone except for that masters of evil and amazing friends (never really checked out TRU that much cuz the one where I lived before closed), but that last few rounds with all of the repacks, plus the price increase was not good for business. I was really looking forward to those emma frost and valkyrie team packs.

If by green you mean money, then probably yeah. I somehow doubt Hasbro actually cares enough about the environment to call a packaging change. Cheaper card-backs, no commissioned art, flimsy bubble pack, hell yeah, we're Hasbro and it's our job to be cheaper than before and charge just as much!

kylactus 04-11-2014 08:18 PM

I've seen a few pics of the MI invincible Hulk where his head looks to be a different green than the body, I got one today and mine looks great! did they correct this or is it just a photographing thing?

soundwavempl 04-11-2014 08:36 PM

Nice to see the MU 3-packs showing up at Ross:

http://www.toyark.com/members/soundw...packs-3027.jpg

I saw an X-Force set at another Ross store. 2 of the 3 Ross stores I hit today had the 3packs. I picked up a Guardians of the Galaxy set at the one store that had 2 of them.

shortysben 04-11-2014 08:54 PM

Raf, very cool of you to do this, and although I am not entering your contest I wish the winner good luck, as mu has been good to me over the years, but my taste for this line is dying out. I use to be so excited when they would announce new stuff, and I would have to have it all, I am pretty much done with this line, and I wish the future well. The hobby needs more giving guys like you.

I remember a time when I would organize free figs drives ( heck once sent an arker like 20 free mu figs), that I organized between me and other members who I don't see around much anymore. Which is a shame.

Toy collecting has gone the way of most things, so elite that although the line itself has said it has become easier to find, and that retailers will pick up more, it's made the once Mildly hard to find figure that much more hard to find. Hasbro has ran this all into the ground, and has lost a customer in the process. Although I may pick up a fig here and there, for the most part I am done.

Sad to say goodbye, but still glad this line existed.

ukmu 04-12-2014 12:41 AM

I wasn't going to enter Raf's contest...

He asked to, so for.my son I did. I shared my story directly to him, as I was, admittedly embarrassed to share publicly....
Here goes.

We had gotten a Vision just a few months ago. My son was never happier!! He asked Santa, both in letter and on lap, for The Vision Marvel Universe figure.... Christmas came.and went, yet no Vision came.

About a month later, an arker hooked me.up with a great price and I was able to fulfil my son's wish. As you can see in the UK marvel 3.75 forum pics... he was elated. Then a bit of a situation occurred.

His mother, my wife, suffers from multiple sclerosis and lives in continual pain 24/7. We do all that we can for her, but options are limited with our National Health Insurance in the United Kingdom. The.government makes.cuts at.every turn. So we signed her up for a new treatment called hyperbaric oxygen treatment. It allows cellular restructuring on micro level. It helps to slow the progressive degenerative effects of the disease. This expensive treatment comes out of pocket. There was a three year waiting list.

Out of the blue, we had an opportunity to get her in the tree program. £1300 ($2150) down payment was required in less than a week and a half.... I had to sell everything that was valuable of mine along with either my wife's grandma's pearls or my son's prize possession...The Vision to cover the remaining amount needed. I kept grandma's pearls in the end. Blaze, my wonderful son, was and is still unaware of his sale. I told him I was putting Vision in the bank vault to protect him. I have NEVER lied to my son before. I was and remained ashamed, and sad. He often asks if we can go to the bank to look at Vision. I make up reasons why we can not.

I am an immigrant here to the UK from America. It is difficult working here as there are several restrictions as the hours I am allowed to work and the amount of money I am allowed to earn. Alongside with my bed ridden partner, we get by and I sell a few drawings here and there to buy my son his favourite nothing in the world. Marvel Universe figures.

He takes better care of them than most of us do. Acid free bags, labelled of coarse. He places them them up, NEVER bashes them and then ALWAYS dusts.them before returning them to their careful homes. He knows more about Marvel than most comic shop owners even! He is a wonderful.and.nice.boy. Says prayers every night and picks up litter when ever he see it lying about. I would not have.ever entered, but he is worthy. Plus raf had asked me to enter.

At first I was only going.to tell raf the story through pm here. I decided to share with all my friends here and expose my own insecurities to you all.

Thanks.for.reading..... I have began work on a drawing of The Vision to offer for this contest as.well. I offered well before I ever decided to enter Blaze into it. I try to be as helpful as I can here on toyark. Win lose or draw.... I am proud to be part of this WONDERFUL community and call you all, my friends.

This is how I think about/display my collection, FF includes the Guardians, Inhumans and all cosmic characters, Spider-Man includes Punisher, Daredevil, Doctor Strange and all things mystic (because I became aware of those characters through the Spider-Man cartoon).

Good luck everyone in the Vision contest, my own Vision story would probably make most people sick - when I saw him in a shop I didn't even know who he was, but after reading about him on Wiki I concluded he was quite an important character and bought him!

I imagine that somewhere in china there's a building like the one at the end of Raiders of the lost Ark full of Visions, Bag Heads, and North stars.

Legends claim that if you break into Hasbro's main office's basement with the staff of Ignoreallcustomers and attach a G2 Optimus Prime on top at 10am, the toy's light-piping will reveal the secret location of this warehouse. And maybe if we're all lucky we'll realize that the scalpers are digging in the wrong place!
