Speaking of fleamarkets and random finds, I was at a local pawn shop this week and seen a huge optimus prime figure sitting randomly between a katanna sword an a vintage painting. So I asked the guy working there to take a look, so he takes it out and hands it to me, It was big, I want to say 12-13'' maybe more it was optimus g1 style colors and he was heavy I felt a lot of dicast. I didn't handle him long, so I don't have a lot of details to go on, He looks great, cept 1 major condition issue. on the chest piece, on 1 side there's a huge blob of what looks to be either plaster or whiteout hardend and plastered on the driverside front window. It maybe repairable it may not, but they were asking $50! Now the toy is big and heavy but is it worth that? especially in the condition described? wondering if any transformer fans/collectors may know of what figure I speak of. I looked to have good articulation, but I doubt it transformers. Kind of looked like a huge version of the revlotech prime figure. any ideas? I can probably talk them down on price, especially if it sits there for a week or 2.

Sounds interesting, check around and see if the more recent Optimus Prime that is being sold at Walmart is die cast. It was marketed as "the biggest Optimus Prime figure made", so I thought it might be. I saw one of those at a Walmart recently, it was clearanced down to $40. They might be the same figure.

It is an expensive figure, but from what I seen he's missing the battle axe, his trailer, and either 1 or both guns, plus the conidtion he's in. $50 maybe worth it, but I want to get it for like $20, lol.

Then walk in there and tell them that you'll pay $20 and not a penny more. Hell, they probably coughed up $10 for it at the most.

The US release didn't come with a trailer, but it should have the battle ax, gun, and small Megatron gun for him to hold, as well as a stand if it's the US release. IIRC the retail on them was about $50 brand new back in 07(?), but I remember them being clearanced out for about $20 after xmas at almost every Walmart I went to. I don't think I'd go more than $20.. $30 max.. if it's missing all those accessories and has dried white out on it. Offer him $15 and let him haggle you up to $20 lol.

went by two wal marts today and nothing... did see some of the new star wars figures but the ones i wanted were of course gone... hopefully ill find somthing this week

That's the same amount I saw. I expect to be able to get Captain America and Iron Man on clearence.

Something tells me the figure wasn't actually released at retail. The entire thing is like dicast. and it's a masterpiece series, I thought it was an import only and for being that size and diecast I can't picture it being cheap, apparently it does transform though.

That Optimus prime is worth it with all the accessories but without he Axe and gun i would pass. I do have that still sealed in the box. I would try to find it moc first.

If it was infact all/mostly diecast it is the Jap version. My friend has one and it is heafty. I have the Grey masterpiece Prime that came with the clear trailer which cost around $250-300. The G1 Masterpiece from Japan ran aound $200 I think. But it's all about condition. After this new one comes out even though it's smaller it will replace most people's G1 Convoys.

I might be able to fix it, that's a mabye, it honestly looks like a 1 inch chunk of wallplaster is on the driveside front window portion of the chest. I might be able to remove most of it, but afraid some paint may come off with it. And colormatching a small area like that may look like crap. I think he had 1 gun with him, but definatley no battle axe, trailer or display base. The thing was heavy like 4 lbs easily. I will give it until payday friday and return and see if they are willing to drop the price. It's a sweet looking figure, but not worth $50 in the condition it's in. Also thinking getting the missing accessories won't be cheap.

Where did you get this? It's not even at my Wal-Mart yet. Checked today. More interested in new Captain America. Got so frustrated that I bought the figure below at my Toys "R" Us. Also bought it because I need an Iron Man figure before I buy the Marvel Select Avengers Hulk.

I'm going to be painting him later once I get the paints that will make it look metallic. Painting him with the red and gold so it'll look like the classic Mark IV. Joss Whedon has convinced me to hate the Triangle reactor.
Hopefully it was a good buy because all the Mark IV's on eBay are extremely expensive. Please tell me it was a good buy.

At a Wal-Mart in IL. They didn't have a price tag or scan normally, yet. They grouped them with the 13$ parachute Avengers. I'm guessing they weren't suppose to be out until the end of the month.

That's a great figure, multiple hands, and great paint. If you decide to repaint him that's your choice but either way he's a great stealth IM figure, worth the $$
