Arrow, Flash, and Reverse Flash still look good to me, but like I've said before, I can't imagine Mattel doing even half the characters DCC is. This version of Superman doesn't have enough of a presence in the comics to make me care about owning a figure of him. Batman and Joker are still kinda tempting. Though looking at Joker again, part of me is worrried that his left hand is permanently holding what used to be his face. Then, while I appreciate the proportions of this Batman, I'm not sure I care enough about this particular batsuit to own a figure of it. |

I do hope that they start to add back some articulation on these new figures to match Marvel Legends. These are more than likely are going to be in the same $20 price point, so there is no reason Mattel could match the same level of articulation on these figures. There is hope though with the redesigned hips on that Batman which looks a lot like the new ML style hips. I would also like to see the same style of ankle joints on these that Hasbro is is using on the ML figures. |
i was at my LCS today picking up my usual wednesday comic releases and i come to see the DC Icons are now available. i was tempted to pick up the batman and possibly deadman but i held off.

*EDIT* nevermind..i think he's a later release.. |
Just saw a review of DC Icons Batman, and the Icons figures are scaled smaller than DCUC... easy pass now.

yeah about that size comparison batman would be taller than cap i dunno they might make a better batman where he is taller. Thinking about it wanna see someone with a tape measure then show it to dc collectibles showing that they're not 6 inchs high EDIT: ERMMMmmm yeah i watched a Green Arrow Review and erm compared i dont think i will buy the line, i dont think DC know how big 6 inches is, Dam shame was really looking forward to them |
Early video reviews of Batman showcase a great sculpt, but the line does seem a bit small. Additionally, the ab-crunch seems limited (that could be due to Batman's utility belt) as does the hip/neck/& shoulder articulation. The head keeps popping off on the reviews I've watched...kinda funny, but no bigge IMO.
I could live with some of these design hiccups, but the lack of a thigh swivel irks me greatly. I'll need to see more reviews...possibly buy one for myself (likely Firestorm) and make up my mind after I gain more info... |

I think everyone on the DC team at Mattel just got put on notice. These DC Collectibles Icons are outstanding. I hope this line does well and lasts for a long time becasue I plan on using them to fill gaps and replace disappointing figures in my DCUC Collection.
They come with a bunch of accessories and have a lot of articulation. I really like the sculpting and paint details on them both. I really appreciate that the gloves and boots are separate parts that are cast in the appropriate color plastic instead of being painted, because a lot of Mattel's figures had sloppy paint around the boot and glove cuffs. Batman's thighs are not distractingly big like they seem in the promotional photos, so that's a relief. Green Arrow has a bow with an elastic cord so you can get him in a believable pose drawing back with an arrow. I actually shot a couple of arrows across the room by accident trying to get them and the bowstring both in his right hand! I think that MIB collectors will like them too because the boxes they come in will be easier to display and store than DCUC. I have a few issues with them though. The upper torso/ab crunch joint on my Green Arrow barely moves and I wish his hood was a separate part that could move along with the head. The hip joints need a little improvement because they don't seem to move very far forward or backward and they don't really have any thigh swivel. The joints on the legs and the arms are a little loose on mine after playing with them for a little while too and you should definitely be careful with the wrist joints on all the hands because it seems like the pegs could break if you handle them too rough. Since they seemed so responsive with the Animated Series figures, I'm sure that DC Collectibles can correct these minor issues with future Icons figures. Now I'm really looking forward to the new Icons Supes, Harley and Joker! |

The figures look pretty great, from what I've seen, but they are a totally new scale unto themselves, which is a shame. I was hoping to add a few to the DCUC collection, but there's too much of a size difference for my liking.

That really is a bummer. They look almost a whole head shorter. That's not a fudgeable difference.
Guess I won't have to worry about buying this line :) |

I really wanted to like those Icons, but they are just way too short and I don't really see DC going all out with classic styled characters. NOt to mention they probably won't even touch the likes of the lesser nobodies like Killer Moth, Phantom Stranger, The Question, etc. Hell, I don't even know that version of Mr Miracle, but it looks bad.
I'm still going to get Flash and Harley, but that is pretty much it unless they do a Neal Adams Batman and Robin. |

Honestly, the more I read about them, and the more I see of them, the more I think this line will be worth getting and displaying as it's own collection. It does help that I don't have more than a handful of DCUC sized figures, so I don't have a massive collection of DC figures that'll tower over these like some other collectors do. Has anyone seen Flash out in the wild yet? He and Green Arrow are the two from this wave that I'd really like to get. BBTS recently updated their photo for the Icons Static Shock. While I'm not at all interested in getting the figure, I like that they're making a cloth coat for him. At least, I don't recall seeing the figure with it before. Makes me wonder what other cloth accessories they might do for future figures. |

Strange how they would go from slightly too big with the Designer Series (7") to slightly too small with the Icons (is that 5"?)...talk about being snake-bitten...they seem like they just can't get it right. |
