Spider-Man could possibly appear in Avengers 3! - Nerd Reactor

Like I said in the Marvel 6" thread - baseless speculation and rumor. Liefeld doesn't work for Marvel and basically admits he's got no proof. He's just fantasizing like any other fanboy.

But kudos to Nerd Reactor for getting what they wanted out of it - more traffic to their site.

Does suck that Marvel seems to be C-blockin' X-Men and FF stuff right now. Don't know if that really is the case, but it sure feels like it is.
I can see why it might feel that way, especially to us fans, but I just don't see it making sense from a business perspective. Marvel/Disney makes money off those films and associated merchandise regardless of the studio that produces them.

Actively attempting to kill a still-viable revenue stream solely to regain total control over it seems very childish and spiteful for a multimedia conglomerate.

DOFP was good, but I wouldn't mind if marvel took Xmen back so we could get some cool xmen toys.

I thought ASM2 was a good movie. Sure, not the greatest ever: there were plot holes, and the movie could be nitpicked apart by fanboys (already has been). But if you just go with it, it's an enjoyable ride.

That is an example of one of the few reasons I don't like alternate universes as a structuring device in literature. For some stupid reason, a writer decides that everything MUST be different because it's an alternate universe.

Thankfully, I think Disney is a little too conservative/family-friendly to let Marvel Studios pull something like that on their latest golden goose.

Although, they do own other studios that cater to more mature, controversial and/or non-conventional ideas.

So what is the difference between Death's Head in Series 2 MI versus series 4? Are there 2 versions or just one?

Yep the Pyslocke is a custom. That pic is from this guys's page. He has 100's of sick Toy Biz customs.

Yeah, it makes no sense at all, and even some at Marvel have spoken up about his that isn't how business works. And even then, I'm sure sales of the comic tend to peak around movie time (at least the CBGs I've spoken to say they do). It's just really weird that suddenly FF and to a lesser extent, X-Men, are gettin' a bit buggered by Marvel.

ukmu 06-03-2014 04:07 PM

I am pretty sure Disney isn't hurting for money. They can sit on a franchise until it done their way. Marvel is a tiny tiny tiny cog in their machine of global domination. But until.we.see it...it is all talk.

And Samsson is having troubles posting his fresh new dio pics, can someone help him? He needs to email them to you and then you post them. I can't do it, but I am sure someone could pm him as they need to be seen by all.

Hey would do the same for X-Men but it is too big of a fan title. I have said all along Disney/Marvel has pressured Hasbro. That is why little to no X-Men figures and EVERYTHING Avengers being crammed in everywhere.

I do think Spider-Man will be in Avengers 3. I think Fox is doing a great job of burying FF all on their own. At least no more Things and Wolverines in the toy lines. Getting the new Cyclops and Omega Red again are good signs though.

In less than 50 days we will FINALLY get to hear from Hasbro at SDCC and maybe then we will some answers.

That's a bit of a petty move on Marvel's part if that's the case. It makes absolutely zero business sense.

Spider-man may cameo in Avengers 3, but I doubt he'll join the team anytime soon. Avengers 3 should be Thanos and a space crossover so it makes sense they'd show there are still heroes on earth handling things. Unless movie Avengers 3 goes masters of evil and they save the cosmic crossover for later. Keep in mind that Andrew Garfield is only signed on for 3 amazing spider-man features. So there's nothing in his contract about more yet. Though he is a fellow geek, so he may jump at the chance anyway. A CG cameo though of spidey swinging through NYC while the avengers are in space doesn't seem unlikely if they do manage to get the rights ironed out. There are other heroes built up though that they could do similar with. Like the upcoming netflix series, or even the Young Avengers to start building them up.

Well said.

Liefeld is notorious for being full of hot air. So I wouldn't put much credence in what he says either. Bleeding Cool themselves often gets more wrong than they do right. They typically get the broad strokes, like Fantastic 4 may not have a title coming up, but the reasons behind it are pure conjecture. As a title, Fantastic 4 hasn't been a strong seller for a long time. It's constantly on the chopping block.

It's rumor mongering for the sake of clicks. Plain and simple. Has no real basis and the evidence is circumstantial stuff that's spun to elaborate the non-existent point.

There is something going on over at Marvel between several in house and out of house partners alongside various industry talents and even WB & Fox. So I wouldn't believe everything you think you know just yet about them having a "bitchfest" at each other. They might already be balancing something out across the board. They work together more often than the public may realize. Their united goal is the same. Money. They're businesses and anything that generates good press and decent a bottom line is all they want at the top.

Now if only they'd start paying out what they owe to others better, and stop blowing out hot air and excuses. But that's a complaint for another day. Today is for celebrating good things.

Like the Dr. Strange movie!

Autobot_Goldbug 06-04-2014 12:33 AM

I think it makes perfect sense. Those deals were made before Disney had Marvel. Plus the mockery those studios (especially Fox) did to the franchises.
Getting them back under Marvel would make them more money than a license would.
The new FF movie is a total joke!

The thing is, back in the 90's before Onslaught , any hero who wasn't a mutant except for Spider Man (wait, this was during the Clone Saga) where considered lame. Nowadays, The Avengers have become Marvels meal ticket, half to the movies, have I think the writers like Bendis, and the fact that crossovers are more centered on Avengers now. Also, reading Avengers AI, the public now fears and hates AI like Ultron, not mutants

It is rather ironic, isn't it? The X-Men pretty much carried Marvel Comics (along with Spider-man at times of course) from the late 70's early 80's all the way through Heros Return in 1998 - then from 1998 to 2004 things were fairly even on focus. Then Avengers Disassembled/New Avengers happened and that is really when Avengers become the hot property. To that point the only non X-Men movie property that any Marvel title had was Blade and Spider-man.

How times change.

But with a license, Marvel doesn't have to do anything except sit back and collect the checks. Fox and Sony have to do all the work of making and promoting the film(s).

True, Marvel could potentially make more money if those properties were under their control again. But imagine how much money Disney would have to shell out to make and promote 4-6 films a year instead of the two they're doing this year.

That's not even mentioning how much work would be involved in making all those films. I would hazard a guess that the production schedule would slow down dramatically if Marvel Studios became the only one to produce Marvel films. Then again, maybe they need to, given that article in the NY Post.

ukmu 06-04-2014 08:07 AM

It took a team of financial analysts to tell Hasbro to stop making the same figures and give us something fresh.

Nymesys Prime 06-04-2014 08:28 AM

remember once upon a time Marvel did have the majority rights to some of these properties...then they screwed up,got sued, sold some it off ect...
ROGER CORMANS Fantastic Four ring any bells?
Reb Brown Captain America???

over saturation will kill any idea no matter how good it is or who owns the property. Once upon atime there were several Harry Potter clone movies that came out...they SUCKED! Now its all about Superheroes due to Batman and the Avengers ect...Whats next?? that's what the Studios and toy companies are trying to figure out...

If Marvel had all the licenses back, movies would be coming out at a slower pace and we may not see them deeper explore their characters all around.

As for the new Fantastic 4, until seeing how it turns out, I can't really comment on it. People thought DOFP was going to be a mess and it turned out fine. The same to many other films that people want to snap to judgments on.

This. The only thing having the licenses back would bolster is the live action developments on series and the combined universe usages for cameos. There wouldn't be the same amount of movies per year we've been getting.

Then maybe they should ask the same crystal ball that got them to this point. Or I don't know, here's a silly thought. Pay for the advice they've already taken if they expect more.

Ditto. And now that the first two were out of the way including the wedding, they were at a point where they could have explored the fun side more with Franklin among other stories. They had a perfect setup established to go Moleman too with a depths of the earth story since the previous was depths of space. The surfer "prequel" could have fixed the Galactus "cloud" too.

At least rebooting it means they can integrate it into the X-Men cinematic world, but DOFP could have already been the change that allowed for that anyway on the original. I could see why they would reboot with how prominent the stars are now and wanting to start fresh since those stars have moved on to other obligations, so I'm still hopeful the new might be good and want to give it a fair shot. This time they should try and stick with it and make it work though. Reboots aren't the answer to every problem.

En Sabah Nerd 06-04-2014 11:50 AM

Doctor Doom used more hand gestures than a stereotypical Italian
http://www.stomptokyo.com/otf/Fant-Four/Fant-Pimple.JPG
And he had tiny Freddy Krueger claws
http://www.electricfeast.com/wp-cont...619021_640.jpg
And Mr Fantastic's arm was just a pool noodle with a mannequin hand on the end, but if you tell The Thing that you love him he turns into a normal person again, good times to be a comic book fan, good times.
Oh and in Captain America the Red Skull was Italian and there was a scene when he was all "ah Captain, my American brother" and the captain just yells "I'M NOT YOUR BROTHER!", but hey let's not forget the 1978 Dr Strange movie.

Nymesys Prime 06-04-2014 12:03 PM

ah..yes the Dr Strange movie...always thought Tom Selleck would have made a great Dr Strange back in the day.
In some way all 3 of these movies have endeared themselves to me...whether it was cheesy or not..i was a kid and seeing these movies was great for what they were. Don't forget the Nicholas Hammond Spiderman movies....ahhh good times!!
