Mostly I have 2 of each army builder. I don't really think of doing dioramas with Marvel Universe figures.

Nymesys Prime 06-05-2014 05:29 PM

depends on the figure..usually I do 1 and done
unless I want drones to make the premiere figure look badass.

fosterlager 06-05-2014 05:30 PM

Most of my army building was gi joes, but I do have handfuls of Frost Giants, Hydras, Chitauri and Skrulls thanks to retail clearance.

Though Marvel is slowly making up for decades of mistakes.

I really liked Winter Soldier, it was one of my favorite movies this year and one of my favorite comic book movies of all time. I don't really think we can lump those old low budget movies with anything after Ironman, which was a make or break movie for Marvel Studios from what they've said. I think marvel does want those movie licenses back as they didn't make much from the first spiderman trilogy and make a lot more from their own movies.
As for the army builders, I don't really do it cuz they are too hard to find in my area.

but do you know what really grinds my gears? 4" MI/MU figures are the same price as the giant marvel mashers, which use 6 TIMES THE PLASTIC!! Someone tell me how this makes any sense.

Really wow didn't know that, probably budgeted for parents with kids..who knows.

Jimmyo 06-05-2014 11:12 PM

For us 3 is the magic number, although we have got a few extra on most army builders

cidman911 06-06-2014 12:23 AM

Last call if anybody wants it.

Gonna return Saturday if nobody wants. I've had a few people message me but nobody has replied once its time to pay. Retail plus shipping. And yes I can ship loose.

Mashers have a smaller overall parts count + hollow plastic. Or at least that's my guess since I don't own any Mashers (yet).

In the Mashers' defense, at least you get some play value for your money. The Titan figures, on the other hand....

Barring a few exceptions, I tend to stick to three per unit. That always seemed like the perfect squad number to me. I'm also much more intrigued by the idea of a surgical strike team than I am a platoon.

One exception is TF:Prime Cyberverse Vehicons. I own six of the regular version and three of the Air version. Eventually I hope to get at least one of the Ace Vehicons to be the General/CO of this cannon fodder army.

samsson37 06-06-2014 07:20 AM

Just in time for his debut figure , Deaths Head is making a apperance in the X-Men comic that comes out Wed!!! I just looked at the preview of the book, cause of the figure Im actually curious to see him.

Nymesys Prime 06-06-2014 07:45 AM

I got the Dr Doom, Venom and Green Goblin Mashers because they dont make enough villain but the Transformers Megs,Starscreem and a couple others have me interested.(when they go on sale)
I think the Dr.Doom mashers make great Doombots for my ML Doom

samsson37 06-06-2014 01:02 PM

Here are my "armies"
  • 8 Ninjas - 3 Hand Ninjas (Red - Wave 3), 2 Shadow Strike Ninja archers (Wolverine line 2013), 2 Stick's Order (White - TRU 3-pack), 1 The Ninja (Black - Target 2-pack with Wolverine): foe of Iron Fist in Power Man & Iron Fist vol. 1 #74-#74)
  • 2 S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents
  • 2 Hydra Soldiers
  • 3 A.I.M. Scientists
  • 3 Skrull Soldiers

And it's not quite what you're asking, but since it was difficult not to end up with these figures...
  • 4 Thor - Modern costume Wave 7, Classic costume Classic Avengers 3-pack, Age of Thunder costume Wave 17, Simonson costume / beard Infinite series)
  • 5 Spider-Man "Clones" - Wave 1, Secret Wars pack with Thunderball, Black Costume Secret Wars pack with Magneto, comic pack with Captain Britain, and Wave 18 "Ultimate" non-variant)
  • 6 Iron Man suits in the Hall of Armor - Classic suit Wave 3, Silver Centurion Armor from Iron Man 2 series, Golden suit from Classic Avengers 3-pack, Silver Centurion again from comic pack with Mandarin, Extremis armor from Target 2-pack with bandanna Punisher, Heroic Age armor from the new Infinite series wave)
  • 7 Wolverine - X-Force silver & black Wave 1, blue & yellow costume from Target 2-pack with Black Ninja, "Patch" from comic pack with Silver Samurai, brown & tan costume from comic pack with Sabretooth, blue & yellow costume with Sentinel, blue & yellow costume from X-Men anniversary box set, brown & tan costume from X-Men 3-pack)

There are several characters I have two or three versions of, so I chose four or more as the cut-off point for mentioning.

I like the Thing. Which Human Torch goes good with them 3?

ukmu 06-06-2014 10:48 PM

@Nymesis Prime.... takes about a week, maybe less. Sometimes it COULD be stopped by.customs when shipping internationally. If it is stopped it COULD add as little as one day or as many as three weeks. I guess it depends on their workload and how much of a kick ass sorting mood they are in. It is VERY rare for stopping, but it has happened.

That is great Torpedo!! I tell you something ironic, I will only have ONE of a given character. Yet, we army build like crazy people!! I used to laugh at army builders... then it started. I thought one is cool, but five would be PERFECT. That was before we saw pics of what ten look like. Started buying more and more and more. Figured, if you are to have ten....might as well have fifteen, right. Seems like sound thinking!!! +++cue game show buzzer sound for wrong answer+++
UUUGGH UUGGGGGHHHH....

I will write our numbers down after breakfast. I have list in a box with accessories. They aren't huge by any means, we just go crazy with HYDRA. Our S.H.I.E.L.D. army, with all the troops and agents and Mandroids and pilots and what not numbers 50..... the HYDRA army is bigger. Someday double that!!! A lot of "filler" figures to reach those numbers. Like guys that hold a flag, or guys that sit in a gun, or pilot/drive vehicles. Even have "guards" that just cool by a door and handle a dog. Cheap figures with some yellow on and HYDRA decals added.

Have amassed these with the help of folks here, and a few other places. It isn't easy on a £40 a month toy budget. A lot of trades for artwork helped as well as 4 figures for $20 offers from gracious collectors helping us out along the way. Grabbing the occasional rare bid on eBay because they worded it wrong or because the pound is worth more than the Euro, giving us the upper hand in buying power. And because of people like the GREAT raf3233 who helped us out and GAVE us Vision. Love that guy!!!!!!!

It is also both BECAUSE of collectors sites that we are able to get these, or even care to really. It is all the collecting conversations and pics that drive it just as much as the cool figures themselves. I am proud to be here, and proud to call you my friends......
