Variant, Capt Atom

Totally scored this figure at a local re-sale shop! Don't know if I should sell it or open it???
Not really interested in the character, I just like finding variants at a good price..
Box is in excellent condition so, if anyone's interested, PM me, thanks!

Figure I should ask in here too...

I'm looking for someone who has DCUC Animal Man's jacket parts or full figure to get rid of, or who wants to split a 2-pack somehow because they need B'wana. I need only AM's jacket for a custom.

I can trade or buy if not too expensive.

Checked four WMs again, zero TDKR figures,I think I'm taking a week off of looking, the aggravation and waste of time and gas is getting very annoying,I've never been this frustrated trying to find one damn figure! Sure, the Spider Gwen and the latest 6-inch SWBS are still there mocking me on the pegs at my ghetto WM,but just the same empty pegs for TDKR!

Having the time after voting today, I hit the local Wal-marts and struck DKR Superman. I did some extra driving, as the first Wal-mart I hit had the DKR figures mixed in with the Batman V Superman figures (once I found the differences in the packaging I could pick out all the DKR figures from the sides), including 2 SOB, but only a single Superman that didn't quite have a perfect paint job, the linework on the belt loops could've been cleaner. Since the next Wal-mart is 2 miles away, I hit that one and left that Superman behind, finding the same deal, the DKR was mixed in with the BvS figures. They had a single Superman, but with lots of problems, paint chips on the hands, a big smudge on the S and a dark spot on a thigh. I went back to the first store and picked up that one.

It's really only one of the belt loops and it looks fine from most angles, so I can live with it, given everything else is good, especially that very sharp S shield on the chest.

I'm a bit weird in my preferences, generally I prefer Superman not to be overly muscular; a bit more George Reeves Superman, but if he is to be muscular, he should be big to go with it.

Anyway, I'm honestly a bit surprised, as I was out I also hit TRU and Target before stopping for lunch and how few BvS movie masters are at all the stores compared to a month ago is a surprising. I hadn't expected them to move so fast. The regular figures seems to do as well as I was expecting, everyone has pegs upon pegs of them.

Exclusive to where?? Where did you find it??? City/State/ overseas???

terrymcginnis 03-15-2016 02:07 AM

I was in Canada for a few days. The TRU's there had both batman (unmasked) and superman (added heat vision) just put out. For $27.99 CDN about $21 US

Team Jetfire 03-15-2016 06:59 AM

Yeah, my TRU had a bunch of them We rarely get anything good anymore (especially from Mattel) so I didn't realize it was anything good.

Black Arbor 03-15-2016 09:09 AM

Wait, so the unmasked Batman comes with a DIFFERENT piece of the BAF Grapnel gun?? Who else but Matty?

It isn't!

I got Calvin here from Amazon a couple days ago. He's great, and since he's on the Nu52 Superman buck it felt really good buying a DCUC-like figure again. Lord, I miss that (and related) lines. :( Although I do have a bunch of holes in my collection that need to get filled so I do have something to keep me busy.

Need some help from my fellow Arkers. Just got turned onto the Arkham line of Batman figures but of course discovered they're not actually 6 inch scale. They're larger so my question is what other DC lines are in scale with them. I'm a bit of a scale nazi and got disappointed when the new multiverse stuff was too short. Any suggestions?

The DCC Arkham line is pretty much in a 7" scale. Most DCC stuff is 7" scale, I think only the animated line and the Icons are 6". In general it seems like the 7" scale is only used by collectible companies like DCC, NECA, or DST.

DCC? DC Collectibles I assume? Any suggestions on good versions of many characters from that line?

Yeah DCC is the typical shorthand for DC Collectibles (formerly known as DC Direct). From the different Arkham lines they've done per game there are a few standout figures I think, but of course you have to like the design to begin with. The Origins Batman, Deadshot, Killer Croc, and Deathstroke are all pretty cool. Pretty much every figure from Knight is good as long as you like the designs. Anything from Asylum is honestly too dated to really consider but the City line does have some worthy pick ups like Ra's Al Ghul or Two-Face. Then there are some of their Designer Series figures worth taking a look at and I think that the New 52 Joker from the villains series with the black coat is nice even though he's a little shorter (too big for 6" still but not quite full 7").

Yeah I'm going all in on the Arkham stuff. Love the dark gritty looks of the characters but what I'm also looking for is what other DCC lines go scale wise with the Arkham stuff like a Superman or Wonder Woman or Green Arrow etc. Saw a new 52 Hawk man that is supposed to be 7 inches so was considering him.

For Superman the upcoming Designer Series Bermejo Superman looks like it could fit in pretty well with the Arkham figures with its slightly darker colors and less cartoony/comic-like details but not too detailed as to stand out too much. Green Lantern from the Bermejo Designer wave is also pretty good looking for a fantastical but still grounded feeling design. The Bermejo designer wave is slated for an August release from BBTS so it's a wait but they look like they would fit in nicely with the Arkham figures. For Green Arrow there isn't a slated upcoming Designer series version and the previous New 52 line figure is too much like the comics to fit easily with Arkham figures but maybe the figures based on the show would fit in. I don't know the Arrow figures' exact scale but I think they're 7" based on the ones I've seen at Hastings with the other DCC stuff so if you are okay with the look of the show then that could work I guess. I can't really say for sure on Wonder Woman as it's a huge personal preference on what look you are going for so there could be multiple that fit or maybe none yet.

UrsaMagnus 03-19-2016 02:30 PM

If anyone was interested in a comparison between the two to see what's been reused and such...

I found and passed on the Son of Batman member last night because he just looks weird being all buff and inaccurate with that wrong jacket and a freaking turtle-neck. I also just don't want a Son of Batman figure to begin with. I then saw the new Aquaman BvS figure and felt shame for whoever decided that this scrawny/not-big-looking thing passed for Jason Momoa at the Mattel design team (if they even have such a thing at Mattel). He looks weak and pasty compared to either Bats or Supes.
