Well yes and no...kind of. Since Dawn of Justice is halfassed based on Dark Knight Returns and all.

The difference being that TDKR is celebrated as one of the best comic stories of all time which has a kick ass animated film adaptation and is most peoples' go to Batman Vs Superman fight, BvS is a mixed bag on the other hand with less positive vibes from the fans. I haven't seen BvS yet but I doubt that it'll be much better than I had previously anticipated.

snake5289 03-30-2016 12:30 PM

And therefore I refereed to it as being halfassed. At least in Dark Knight Returns the point of the fight was to show Reagan's whipping boy in a Superman costume that he could beat him anytime he wanted instead of Affleck playing the Punisher in a Batman costume wanting to kill Superman because he's just a scared asshole.

Personally I don't care for TDKR. The fight in pt2 of the animated movie was cool though.

It is one of those comics/stories that has a crowd of unimpressed regular comic fans. I could see how it might rub some people as politically preachy, too convoluted with no back origin given, or just not their cup of tea for a Batman story. It was the '80s though so experimenting with new methods and indirectly criticizing the government was to be expected from writers like Frank Miller. Regardless of liking the comic or not though the animated film deserves some recognition for being extremely faithful to its source material and Peter Weller was a freaking cool sounding old Batman.

snake5289 03-30-2016 01:15 PM

While I may not like TDKR the movie was good. Weller was a great old Batman.

Robocop was a great batman. The animated movie is one of those movies that gets better each time you watch it. My son watches it like once a week and every time I see it it seems like I catch something that I missed before.

I really liked the guy that did Superman's voice. Can't stand Superman in the movie (which I can't believe I just said) but the guy voices a solid Superman.

You're not supposed to like Superman in TDKR, he's a complete tool until the very very end.

snake5289 03-30-2016 04:39 PM

I know and I hate it. I've loved Superman for as long as I can remember and to see him like that kind of turns my stomach a bit.

I'd rather see him as a ruthless dictator (and then see him get his ass handed to him by the real Superman) like in Injustice than a whipping boy like he was in TDKR.

Agreed. I really feel like his boy scout ways and willingness to do the right thing are missing in his modern interpretations. The worst was when he let his dad die in man of steel.
As for the movie figures... They are saturating the shelves and I'll wait until they go on sale/clearance.

As much as I love Reeve as Superman he was sadly before my time. Tim Daly is the Superman I grew up with.

Yeah...they kind of dropped the ball on that in Man of Steel. I mean I get why Jonathan told him to let it happen and Clark honored his father's wishes but I'm sure they could've done it better.

Nothing can beat the way they handled it in Superman the Movie though. Sometimes no matter what you can do or how powerful you are there are things that are just out of your control. That's some schooling right there.

And Kevin Conroy as Batman.

Damn straight.

If this question has been asked before, I apologize, but I know the DC Universe Classics line ended in 2012, however, has this line evolved into the Multiverse line? Funny enough, I started collecting Marvel Legends in 2012(Have a big collection now), but I'm not a guy who choses sides and have started buying the 6 inch Multiverse figures, and am about to go back and collect the DC Universe Classics.

DC Multiverse is the same make and scale of DCUC for the most part. The Movie Verse Figures are a Disappointment.

Thanks, I wasn't really sure. I have the Man of Steel movie masters and all of the figures from the BvS Multiverse line. I know I'm in the minority, but I am enjoying the new movie figures. All eight figures are better than I thought they'd be.

Who's the 8th figure in the BVS line?

Also, you shouldn't have to defend yourself because you like them. I have a few of them too and I think they are just fine for the price point. I bought all the Man of Steel figures when they were at retail and I'm still satisfied with them too. I don't get this mentality where just because a person doesn't like a figure or a toy line they have to dump all over people who do. I have zero interest in Funko Pops, but I'm not going to rag on people who do like them.

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Armored Batman, Knightmare Batman, Aquaman, Heat vision Superman(my favorite), and Unmasked Batman. Those are the ones that I own so far.

I completely agree with you. I love comic and movie figures, and I'm not ashamed of it. LOL.

305Batman 04-06-2016 06:56 PM

The problem is that they share the price point with ML but not the articulation or accessories,to each his own but I'll wait for the superior in every way DCC versions.
