It's hilarious that the Sith are lined up behind the very symbol of corperate evil- and it's in black no less!

HA! You beat me to it, man!
I just found FIVE of these sets at Target and bought two- one for me and one for whoever needs it.

I guess that bomb just dropped today!

Totally! They were just sitting there behind the ANH set...I almost did not bother to look for it!

Wont it be funny if this becomes a common set?!?
I'm a bit disapointed in Darth Maul- his top half anyway. It'll look great once I swap in the Saga Legends Maul's torso though!
Opress looks good...it's his armored look.
Mother Talsend is the best and the reason I bought the set- very nice and her lightsaber looks cool and is possibly unique...not that she needs it.

Yeah...I might jus take my extra one back....

Mastersteef 09-10-2012 01:17 PM

Whats the articulation like on the figs in that 3 pack? :\

I've been pretty disappointed lately with what I've been finding locally since i got all excited over seeing a Clone Wars-style "Republic Commando" on the shelf a month or so back...only to get him home and opened up, and see that he has simple swivel hips with NO knees or ankles....kinda just wanted to chuck him into the garbage after seeing that BS....

T16skyhopp 09-10-2012 02:03 PM

New speeder bike is nice. That is all.

PROVOST 09-11-2012 12:16 AM

I could only find one, it wasa tough decision, but she had to be open, If I run into her at around retail I'll buy another to keep it MOC, but I won't pay the price I paid for mine again.

Optimus Vader 09-11-2012 06:29 PM

I picked up that Maul set today.

Jason Abbadon 09-11-2012 07:37 PM

OKay, Arkers, here's my expanded review of the Maul thre-pack:

First Darth Maul himself- his face and overall look is a dead ringer for his CW look- crazy eyes and all. For articulation, his remarkable good for a CW figure-
Ball shoulders and specialized ball hips! Standard SW swivel balls in the elbows and specialized knees- he also had specialized ball ankles for those big feet.
The disapointing things about this figyre is that the middle hunge in the legs is static- it's joint nicely sculpted by immobile. He also jas no torso swivel at all, and one would have really helped his posability. Lastly, his elbows only ben inward about 20 degrees. He also, and this is a real killer, has no wrist articulation at all. This means he cant hold his lightsaber two-handed! BOO!
He's got his double-bladed lightsaber that seperates at the center- it's the same as the Saga Legends Maul, but there is an extra red circular glowy part (translucent red plastic) that can be inserted betwee the two halfs with a little handle inside for him to hold it one-handed.
Not sure what this is meant to represent.
He looks good and I have no buyers remores for getting him but I'm taking a Saga Legends Grevius and Maul and this CW figure and I'm going to make a super-articulated and detailed version. Should be easy to do, really, and wil look cool.

Next up is Savage Opress- It's the hard to find armored version and there's no difference as far as I can see from online photos. It's weird that Opress has wrist swivels and waist swivel, but not Maul. No hip swivels, unfortunately. Good height on him though....in keeping with his CW character.
I think I can find a Cobra trooper or Crossbomes to sacrifice for his hips.
Opress has his big axe- it's cool and all, but it kinda makes his look like some Dungeon Magazine cover. His best pose is with his axe though- you can cross his wrists so he stand with the axe, blade down, in an executioner's pose.

Lastly is Mother Talsend- labled only as "Night Sister" for some reason.
She. Is. Great!
I'd bet anything this sculpt was NOT intended for the CW line of figures- she's got waaaay too much detail and her face looks right for a Saga Legends sculpt.
Even the feathers on her back have lots of detail sculpted into them (who knew they were feathers? Not me, from the cartoon!).
Like all Saga Legends figures, she's got a ball neck, shoulders, elbows and knees.
She's got torso swivel (nicely concealed at her waist wrap) and swivel wrists and swivel/pivot ankles- which no CW fig sports!
She unfortunately does not have ball-hips, but the robes conceals this.
Talsend comes with a nice lightaber of a design I'm not famillar with- though I'm no expert. She never uses a saber in the show so I guess I'll give t to Doctor Doom or something (more likely it'll go to Opress who only sports his big axe.)

I'm giving mine a light black wah to bring out the details in the robes and feathers and a squirt of Dullcoat- then she'll be just as great looking as mt SG Vader and Maul!

For a $20 set, this is a great deal of fun- three excellent villians for anyone's Star Wars collection and with a bit of creative customizing, all three can be as great as Talsend herself is!

Jason Abbadon' rating- 8/10 Well worth the money!

Mods, you can repost this elsewjere if you want an official review.

evilanimation 09-11-2012 07:39 PM

After looking at the set closer have to say it kinda sucks. Maul looks weird and Mother Talzin is not very accurate.

WalkingDeadpool 09-11-2012 07:56 PM

I love the set...Fits right in with my clone wars collection...Great review Jason...
