My guess is that Polaris will be in the 2016 X-Men wave, and Enchantress will be planned for a 2017 Thor: Ragnarok wave!

Oh nice! Hopefully. Yeah, as much as Enchantress is a top fan request I don't see her before the Thor wave, but just confirmation she would be coming would be awesome. Polaris is far and away the most obvious missing X-related character. If they release this wave and she's not in it, I'm going to cry. No foolin. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to get Madrox in it too and that missing Moonstar? If we can get four new figures and four redos that would make me happy. And if the BAF is not going to be from the movie that rules out Apocalypse, so my guess actually IS on Sauron now. He seems like the most obvious choice even though his sculpt would be pretty much for him and him only.

Also wanted to add I'm glad someone actually had the balls to call them out on these highly requested figures, and why they haven't been made yet.

Mostly because Marvel Legends was down to an exclusive-only line for several years and so there was minimal tooling and such going into the line at that time. Folks sometimes seem to forget that it really only started to come back full-bore just a few years ago, and didn't really start flourishing until the new packaging hit.

There's only so many figures they can make in a year, and retailers are going to demand some mainstays in the mix ("core characters" as it were).

In any case, I think we'd see an Apocalypse BAF before Juggernaut. Yes, there are options out there for both, but we haven't seen a ML Apocalypse in nearly 10 years. Saying that a figure is "already done" is kind of moot when it's not been available on the primary market for a decade (Juggy has been available more recently by a few years, not counting the excellent Marvel Select version). Though I suppose they could do a good Marvel Select version instead (in fact I bet that's likely, though maybe more "in addition to" than "instead").

Though with our luck, we'll end up with Colossonaut.

I get what you're saying. they certainly can only make so many characters every year. But when the same characters top various online fan polls annually, for several years, it's pretty clear there's a desire to see these made over someone who ends up way down the list in general. I know they are constrained by molds as well but I would think at some point they have to take into consideration what their fans want to, to some degree. Maybe they are finally listening.

Captain Nash 10-08-2015 04:10 PM

Also throwing out my predictions if this is an 8 figure wave:

New never released before characters:

Moonstar
Polaris
Madrox
Exodus

Redos of new versions:

Jim Lee Cyclops
Jim Lee Rogue
Jim Lee Gambit
A better Mister Sinister

And the build a figure I'm still going with Sauron but I could see any others as well I guess. I think other possible figures could be Jim Lee Wolverine, Jim Lee Beast, AOA Jean or Deadpool. I would say Jim Lee Psylocke but if they're not making obvious connections with figures to the new movie, that design (along with possibly Cyclops) would be out.

Very NICE! lol I'm most jealous of that Piccolo (my favorite DBZ character), Well Zombie, and Lee Everett! Can't wait to see your hauls over the weekend! Enjoy yourself!!

Phantomcrow 10-08-2015 04:42 PM

If they are even thinking of having Strong Guy as the BAF then it better be the 90's X-factor version. Along with a Havok and Polaris in team jackets, and a Multiple Man and Wolfsbane.

They have to realize that all the best costumes for the X-books was in the 90's.

AND...that Target (i think) 3 pack..i really want that Ultron....dont' really care about the rest tho..

I finally found Ghost Rider a bike, it's the Maisto Sons of Anarchy 1:12 Super Glide. I didn't watch the show but the bike looked like a fair match for Blaze. It works out pretty well but would look better if it were just a bit bigger. I just remind myself that some artists have Ghost Rider like 7 feet tall and it's fine.

I was just thinking about something. There's a lot of collectors (like me) who prefer to collect characters from the comic books as opposed to the movies, yet we often find ourselves collecting movie-related figures to complete comic-related BAFs. On the flipside, there's a lot of collectors who love the movie figures and designs and collect those primarily. On top of that, there's probably a lot of pressure from retailers to have at least one of the heavy hitters in every wave to guarantee their sales, which is why there's almost guaranteed to be an Iron-Man, Captain America or Spider-Man in every wave, and from that, I'd imagine there's probably a lot of pressure for Hasbro to capitalize on the newest movies.

However, I do find it a bit weird that a collector has to collect a wave of mostly movie figures (if you take into account that one of the comic book figures is an optional purchase) to complete a comic book Thanos, and that you have to collect a wave of mostly comic book figures to complete both Movie Ultron and Movie Hulkbuster. Has anybody else felt like this? I see why Hasbro does it this way, but I'm wondering if there could possibly be a better way of doing this.

I just wish Hasbro would offer BAFs online for like $30 plus shipping. I appreciate the variety in both movie and comic figures, there's always the occasional toy that is both (Movie Star-lord, the comics have straight up adopted the look).

305Batman 10-08-2015 07:03 PM

Well, you don't have to collect them, just build the BAF and sell the figs like I did with HB!

Yup, that's very true. I don't mind there being both movie and comic book figures at all, in fact, many of the movie figures are very well done. The movie Ant-Man is aces and yeah, Star-Lord does work as a good comic Star-Lord stand in. I even think the Winter Soldier from last year fits in well enough with a comic display. I just think that if the BAF is gonna be based on a comic design, it should be a comic-centric wave with a few movie figures, and the same goes for a movie BAF being a movie-centric wave with a few comic figures. Like I said, it's just really strange that somebody who wants movie Ultron is only getting a wave with one movie figure.

Although I do like the idea of offering the BAFs online. Only problem with that I assume is that the BAF is Hasbro's way of assuring retailers that there's an incentive for buying even the more obscure characters.

Eh, I keep my figures even if I'm just collecting them for a BAF lol. Never know if in the future I'm going to want to add them to some team on my shelf. There's also been certain characters that I've bought as part of a wave or boxset that I actually grew really fond of. Blizzard was that purchase for me, but now I actually kinda dig the figure for all of its simplicity. Brother Voodoo was another.

That is absolutely fantastic, man!! I can tell you that being introduced to comics changed my life for the better as a child. It's so important to develop sense of wonder and imagination when you are young; a trait that remains important as you develop into an adult. The art for that story wasn't the greatest, but the story was very enjoyable and many kids in the city will be able to relate to a positive role model in the form of Adam. You know that the creator of the character is that actor from Underworld, right? His name is Kevin Grevioux. Check him out, that dude is pretty impressive.

Side note to your side note: Speaking of badasses, do you know Ta-Nehisi Coates? If you don't, he's a prolific writer/journalist/thinker who works for The Atlantic. THIS DUDE IS LEGIT within the community and he will be writing Black Panther. I'm still pinching myself, B...I've read his articles online and listened to this dude on talk radio for quite some time and I'm beyond amazed that Marvel pulled this off (apparently he's a life long comic fan). Well, long story short, I have a book that will be drawing me back into comic shops. I wish Coates could also write for Blue Marvel given his profound understanding of the African American experience. But hey, maybe BM will get a stand alone...and BP ain't exactly a shabby start! lol

Is that Classic Rogue going to be carded in stores or is that an exclusive at NYC? Rogue is my favorite character!

VashTS 10-08-2015 08:44 PM

Jim Lee Cyclops, Rogue, Gambit seems like a sure thing since they were previewed in some form before, be it different paint jobs. But I think we may get it as Hasbro has the sculpts.

So I hope and predict 7-8 X-Men figs will be;

JL Cyclops
JL Rogue
Gambit
JL Wolverine
Psylocke
Warpath
JL Sabertooth
Multi Man

BAF Juggernaut

I just think they made the molds already and most of the wave are repaints. I think that makes the most sense to me.

Would love a Fabian Cortez, MArvel Now Magneto, Mr. Sinister, Toad, Colossus, JL Havok, Strong Guy, Forge and Polaris. Xavier will not happen as they will not give him a chair...

Phantomcrow 10-08-2015 10:51 PM

I really just would like an Age of Apocalypse line.
I want Dark Beast, Mr. Sinister, Jean in the classic AoA outfit (not the crap cancelled figure outfit), Cyclops, Havoc, Magneto, X-Man(Nate Summers)and most of all BLINK!! plus BAF AoA Apocalypse.

OH, and a store (Walgreens) exclusive MORPH :-)

Oh god...but he was so annoying!

I remember quite well as a kid cheering when he got offed in the first episode...and then being let down when they brought him back later in the year...

The people taking the online fan polls are not the entire buying audience, but generally speaking Hasbro ALWAYS listens. It's just that it often takes them a few years to getting around to putting out those slightly more niche characters that many fans demand, and in the internet age the "But I want it NOOOOOOW!" mentality rules.

I suspect the reason for this is because both Hasbro and the Retailers don't have high hopes that the line would do as well without the mix of Movie and Comic interpretations (outside of Spider-Man, who's probably the #3 most recognized/popular Superhero in the world after Batman and Superman). It's generally far, FAR better to put out an assortment that has "something for everyone" than an assortment that's entirely targeted at one segment of the market or another. Remember, it only takes one or two assortments of heavy pegwarming to kill a line for retailers.

Basically...no, there isn't a "better" way because Hasbro and retailers want comic fans to buy movie figures and movie fans to buy comic figures. I'm quite sure their BAF choices are at least somewhat calculated in that regard.

IE Don't expect the movie/comic mix-up to go away anytime soon.

Sorry but I think I deserve that Moonstar that got scrapped before we get Warpath, he just got a Legend. I kinda bet Psylocke wont happen because then the SDCC one will lose all its value. and really, do we need another Wolverine? and if we do get one you can bet its Old Man Logan.

That said, with the Masters of Evil popping up, And the wrecking crew almost complete I can see a Moonstone/Titania swap in the pipelines.

Don't worry, it'll be at retail. Making her an exclusive would be pretty cruel given how popular she is...Actually, I don't think NYCC does exclusives. Normally, NYCC is pretty uneventful, but this year has been a departure from the years past. Who knows, maybe there will be some exclusives next year...
