For the record, I'm not a cop, as far as your frat boy nerd beating comment, I'm a 32 year old man, who collects toys... c'mon dumb ass wake up I am the nerd. I do agree with you that you wonderful Mellinnials do not have any original ideas, just regurgitating the same communist bull shit, taught to you by some useless professor that convinced your tiny brain that he's a genius, mixed with a need to hyper sexualize society everything simultaneously bitching and crying because some damn movie that came out before you were born may not live up to your "high moral standards". go forth perpetual victim! fill the world with your profound thoughts! go... go now! |
The irony of someone berating people for whining about action figures while being a 32-year old.....whining....about action figures. An action figure of an outfit that already has 50 billion action figures at that.

Yeah, absolutely nothing to do with the sexist fuckboys that put down anything women have to say that isn't "I'm totally not like other women! I'm CONVENIENT for male geeks!" Quote:

Are you seriously suggesting having a problem with sexist assholes in an overly male-dominated hobby is somehow oppressive? Quote:

You could argue there are forms of toxic femininity, too, but that's a whole other thing to get into. Toxic masculinity is what starts wars and breeds violence, so generally, it's the bigger issue here. Quote:
Do you have any idea what it's like being a geek girl, a minority, queer or trans in a cis het white guy fedorafest? Good chance you don't. Most people using your argument certainly don't. What people like you do isn't "disagremeent". You're unable to deal with this subject without putting on a deeply condescending and nasty tone to anyone that disagrees with you. Do you think I had a problem if this was a mature discussion where you accepted people's points and gave them intelligent rebuttals? No. I have a problem with assholes like you like who double down on groups that have only recently gotten a foothold in your little boys club. You pretend like your "SJW" bogeymen are the fascists when really it's you, being a status quo champion. Very often it's not really a thing you can rationally disagree on, which is why you're so quick to sink to that. It's based on you denying and rejecting other people's experiences. Quote:

You're acting like you're being bullied into silence, but I remember boards like this 5-6 years ago. And you were doing exactly that. And not because what people were saying was oppressive or hurtful, but because, like now, you didn't like being challenged. You only like "freedom of discussion" when it's on your terms and you know you have support. You're not some sort of freedom fighter. You probably don't know what it's like to take a serious stance for your rights. Again, you're an asshole. You're shitting on women and minority groups. That's all you're doing. You're dressing it up in fancier language, but again, you're shitting on people who are actually persecuted and then playing the victim. You're pathetic. Quote:
If you want a real argument, then leave bullshit slurs like "Social justice warrior" at the door. Again, they only exist to shame people into silence, or to get a rise out of people. You don't use terminology like that if you're looking for a real discussion. Terminology like toxic masculinity etc. is actual critical theory, which is different. You can talk about it. You can't talk about "Social Justice Warriors" because it's a bogeyman, and not really relevant to talking about depictions of female sexuality. Quote:

I don't get to have that in the first place? The comics code did so much damage. Imagine if we actually had gotten bisexual Storm & Wolverine like Claremont wanted. But we never did. Even after the code stopped existing, people still didn't want to rock the boat with too many queer characters. I find most people who complain about SJWs tend to be somewhat "Libertarian" identified(as in right wing libertarian, not Noam Chomsky style) and probably American, and they don't really understand how privilege works or that there are other ways to fuck things over other than outright banning something or holding a gun to someone's head. Negative vs. positive liberty, punch up vs. punch down, these are very important concepts to understand and most people just don't. Also conservatives, not liberals(I'm not a liberal, i'm more of a left libertarian but i'm going to assume everyone here equates SJW with liberal), are more likely to ACTUALLY get things banned. Look at a banned book list sometime. |

like you seriously need to get some perspective on this one? this is about market saturation for something that's fallen by the wayside. the prominence of that particular costume for a strong and important character left a bad taste. that's a reasonable reason. whereas there isn't a reason for having most superheroes be straight white dudes when the audience is diversifying rapidly. where's my phyla vell and moon dragon figures? i guess those characters were never really pushed. Given her popularity, it's pretty crazy how we still have no sign of a Kamala Khan figure. |
Again, there is such a thing as positive and negative liberty.
You're talking about Freedom to Choose but I can't choose to buy action figures of the sort of characters I like. That's even before we get into how 1/18th lines are being treated like shit and completely dropped by Mattel... Anyway, people who haven't really experienced oppression or subjugation go nuts over stupid pointless inconsequential shit like this all the time. Ironically while bitching about people(SJWs) they perceive as getting upset over nothing... Does "No More Slave Leias" actually affect your life or even happiness as a collector in any real way? A lack of LGBTQ figs actually does feel kind of shitty in a very real way. That's a much more extreme situation than wanting to own a piece of female sexuality. |

http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/a...pstmnnushw.gif On a serious note: people are way too vocal in response to a gay character if they are against that, which may intimidate companies from making products or even more LGBT characters to begin with. |

as far as why companies capitulate, the squeaky wheels get the grease, most people would look at this conversation and say who the fuck cares. but ultimately in our social justice joke age if you can get a couple people with no lives to complain loud enough you intimidate companies with fear of a "social backlash" if they don't bow to your demands. that's not a free market. it's actually fascist by definition. they made more bikini Leah's because they sell. no kid wants Leah in the iconic white gown (which she was wearing when she was rescued by her brother, a male, and a misogynistic space pirate, also male, got a problem with that?) because it's boring, Leah's most bad ass moment in the whole trilogy was choking Jabba's ass to death with her chains! |
Reminder: ~I'm queer so I can say queer~

And that's all folks.
