From a monopolistic point of view, it would be a nightmare, but personally I would prefer Hasbro would pick up the license an start producing DC Legends figures. As a long time collector, I'm very satisfied with their ML figs and the prices are acceptable for the most part.
I'm very, very skeptical about McFarlane picking up the license. Sure, they were top notch... like 20 years ago. None of their recent figures have managed to impress me and the play value is horrible. I want action figures, not semi-statues in weird positions. I actually would have preferred if Mattel would simply have kept the license. All they needed to do was standardize their figures to the common 6-inch and I would have been happy. When it comes to international distribution, all these companies are a disaster. Living in Belgium, Europe, you find almost nothing of this at retail. You have to go through specialized stores or use the internet, but both lead to inflated import prices. Were are the days when big players such as Hasbro and Mattel simply managed to get their stuff at retail stores over here? No wonder their sales are going down, as they seem to fall back more and more on the US only. |
How is it Sunday and McFarlane has shown nothing? Was hoping for a Color Tops Invincible with better articulation.
All these new licenses, and nothing to show for them? |

Okay, yeah, I figured no DC stuff quite yet. Hope to see some Skybound stuff tomorrow.

Fwoosh was at the booth and the DC stuff was mentioned briefly:

It's funny because you can tell Todd still doesn't get the articulation idea but it's business over "art". People want articulation and even if he doesn't understand why- he'll give them articulation to stay in business. To an extent I get it- I read about so many people complaining about not enough articulation and then they'll show a picture of shelves just stack nose to asshole of "action" figures just standing there waiting to be dusted. cracks me up.

He said the same things so many years ago, and he still doesn’t get it. Astonishing.
Really glad he has company people and consumers telling him to get his head out of his ass, because the quality of his company’s toys has made leaps and bounds in the last two years. Articulation, and sculpt work. And, to his credit, their joints are still less obvious or visually intrusive than many other toylines. So it’s not quite a compromise, but I feel like they’ve done a great job with it. Took him way too long to listen to people and figure out that adaptation makes you money. His DC toys are going to be terrific, I can’t wait to see them. |
I respect that his decisions about articulation and sculpt are based on his own artistic tastes rather than financial reasons or apathy.

Todd did an interview about the line.

Bah! T'figures. Right when Mattel was getting good again.

Very excited about this. McFarlane knows the industry and the mythos inside out and always had a knack at making things look "cool". It sounds like he will deliver on all fronts, if people actually decide to give some money into the line. We ll see.....

^ he specifically mentions trying to keep the prices reasonable because he is "price sensitive".
Ofcourse, everyone starts with good intentions and end up backtracking on their word.... but all MCF figures I see at my local store are at the Legends/Neca price range. I am not sure if DC will have the final word in setting the prices though..... |

Now I'm reading DC Collectibles will be taking a "step back?" Is McFarlane going to replace DC Multiverse and DC Collectibles?
I hope he keeps up the animated line, if so. |

But, DC Multiverse is done after this year. McFarlane's stuff will be its own thing. |

Rumored leak of the initial assortment of figures dropping in Q1 2020. Fortnite articulation on each and 1/10th scale.

hmmm... we shall see... |
McFarlane should just stick to doing statues if he hates articulation so much. A lot of people like me stopped buying his Spawn toys in the past when they became plastic statues.
And action pose with no articulation ≠ action figure, Todd. |

MCFARLANE IS ADDING MORE ARTICULATION Just look at his new Fortnite figures for an example of what we can look forward to on this line! |
