On the positive note, Cyclone does look better, she's got a smirk and looks less bored.

Cyclone’s head does look better, just wish they put more detail on the outfit.

what the hell is with the weird-ass illustrated cardbacks?? I don't get the logic here, they have this amazing figure art (or supplied movie promo-art) and McFarlane is using ILLUSTRATED images? And it's not even good? There's a multitude of amazing creators and it looks like Todd went to the guy storyboarding Spawn 2. I'm SO confused by this.

hasbroherofan 07-01-2022 11:58 AM

Digging the Hawkman and Doctor Fate designs, but that might be it for me. The villain looks cool too.

I'm sure a bunch of supposed lifelong Cyclone fans will materialize seemingly out of nowhere to protest this grave injustice.

I dont get what's so weird about using illustrations depicting live action comic characters. It is a little odd that they're not consistent with it for the entire wave but, whatever its just the packaging.

Disappointed that the Rock headsculpt isnt wowing me like in those promo pics but, I guess that was to be expected.

I’m a cyclone fan and a Carrie Kelley fan and a Batwoman fan but do I care that their recent live action counterparts don’t have red hair… no not at all I still love them.
Navia was great in the Gotham knights trailer, Javicia was good in Batwoman, and I’m sure cyclone won’t be any different.

DarkEyes 07-01-2022 06:54 PM

The Rock looks amazing! But I don’t understand why Cyclon is sold out on Amazon? Even the Doctor Fate figure isn’t so impressive and it’s also sold out but Black Adam is still available, really?

Skoob 07-01-2022 09:32 PM

Oops, posted under wrong thread. Sorry.

EternianJerkian 07-02-2022 12:21 AM

I really wish Todd would stop with the pin holes like Super 7, Mattel and Hasbro have been. They always look ugly and Atom Smasher has even more visible pins in those elbows than a Marvel Legends Spider-Man (gotta get me that Renew Your Vows one). On BOTH sizes of him too. Todd, I'm tired.

UNIQGEEK 07-02-2022 07:01 AM

So I had a critique

Am I the only one that thinks Black Adam looks a bit cross-eyed??

Nimrod 07-02-2022 08:35 AM

Hawkman looks like caca, looks more like "droopy puppy dog ears" man lol

ThorOdinson123 07-02-2022 09:33 AM

I am torn which Fate to buy. Movie fate with no eye holes or Injustice Fate.

I love the classic costume that movie fate has but I love the helmet on Injustice fate more.

Movie fate has his gold gloves Injustice doesn't I like the holding hand injustice fate has cause I can give him the spellbook that comes with Constantine.

decisions decisions

305Batman 07-02-2022 12:18 PM

Megafig AS shorter than Swampy,oh Todd!

DarkEyes 07-03-2022 03:37 AM

I preordered Doctor Fate yesterday on Amazon, it was randomly available. Maybe a looser canceled his preorder.

It’s interesting to see how Fate and Cyclone are sold out on Amazon, prefer to save a couple of units and not to get any chances. I’m particularly not interested in Cyclone.

It's not weird if it was part of the marketing or pulled from comics like Todd's done in the past -- but it's not, and these specific illustrations are... not great. These aren't great illustrations of the characters OR the actors, poorly drawn and colored, and have no callback to anything but themselves. If they'd gotten ie. Jim Lee to do renders (since Jim does EVERYTHING, and his Black Adam statue would at least add some continuity to the wave) or Fabok, Mann, Campbell, or even level-up with someone like Paul Shipper -- Todd literally hires great artists for his books, were they even part of the conversation when this decision was made?

"It's just the packaging" is what sells 80% of the things on store shelves, so this isn't another angry toy nerd rant (but maybe a flummoxed designer one).

Agreed on the sculpt tho, it was a must-buy based on the promo's but now it's a wait-and-see how the YT review community weighs in.

This DCUC 4HM sculpted Hawkman that is around 12+ yrs old blows away the droopy puppy dog eared Hawkman in every way you can think of. How some of you are singing this figs praises is beyond me. It's atrocious.

eh that's fine for a comic Hawkman though it's got that old dated MotUC body type and articulation with the giant pinholes, but that McFarlane one ain't trying to be that. I quite like that movie costume. If I had to cosplay one I'd definitely go with the movie outfit, not the comic one.

I’m sure most cosplayers would, it’s one of his few outfits that has upper body covered in more than a kinky little harness ;)

Aye. Fine if you've the confidence and build for it. But I sure don't. lol Same reason I wouldn't cosplay as He-Man and he's in my avatar thing. lol

Nimrod 07-06-2022 07:42 AM

It's hilarious that the actor playing the role of Hawkman obviously worked out to be in great shape for the role & then ends up 80% covered up by that ridiculous outfit.

TheBlueMarvel 07-06-2022 09:11 AM

Aldis Hodge has been in some modicum of shape since Leverage. He's now in 'super hero' shape...

I think he wanted to try his best to get hawkmans physique to please the “it has to be comic accurate” fans due to it already being a race swapped role.
Personally I don’t care and he looks great as hawkman :)

Designincase 07-06-2022 09:50 AM

Hawkman's always had that weird costume aesthetic. He doesn't have superhuman durability and yet he has a overly exposed chest. Add on filming wise it would be a mess to switch in a stunt double if they did.

Honestly most actors don't need to get into superhero shape. Padded suits(if it's meant to be skin tight) will do all the work.

It's always amounted to the one shirtless scene and that's it.

My only beef with the Hawkman movie design(and to be fair it's only two shots we've seen) is the armor makes the actor look small when he's anything but. I think part of it is that Superman Returns collar problem happening.

I could see that as comic fans definitely have high to completely unrealistic expectations.

I'm a comic canon fan, but given Carter Hall's relationship to ancient Egypt, this swap works for me.

Not to be persnickety, but, as a Hawkman fan, I feel compelled to point out that some of your characterization is a bit askew of the mark. Hawkman does, in fact, have a measure of enhanced strength and durability. These powers are the result of the use of Nth metal and even include regenerative abilities. Hawkman is not 'normal'.

As a fellow hawkman fan, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Totally disagree with that statement in every way shape & form. These actors are playing make believe characters that are depicted as being at the peak of human perfection, not flabby, not skinny, not fat, in peak Olympian body building levels! So Chris Hemsworth & Henry Cavill didn't have to get into rock solid shape to play their roles as Thor & Superman? Padded muscled body suits woulda done the job? The Rock shoulda just put on a muscle suit too? Guess you were alright with that joke of an actor that played Hawkman in Smallville. Zero muscle tone and looked about as intimidating as a new born Kitten. If an actor/actress doesn't wanna put in the effort to get in extremely excellent physical condition to play a superhero role, then they have no bussiness being in it.
