So Shuri is going to be some exclusive or something?

I suppose if they tried to do a comic accurate head in live action it would make him look too much like Leonard Nimoy as Mr Spock.
(that's two threads here in the past two days I've brought Leonard Nimoy into a topic that had nothing to do with him) |
Or Jude Law, who would have been a solid choice years ago.

I have to wonder what comics if any, have any of you ever read that featured Namor & he wasn't powerful looking? "Lithe" is hardly the word I'd use for a guy who's 6'2 278lbs. Yeah Namor is a "big jacked guy". And aside from Logan who's 5'3 and was miscast from the get go as well, almost all heroes & villains in both the Marvel/DC universe are at least 6ft tall or more and even Spiderman is 5'10 which is above the avg hgt of an American male. Luke Evans should have been cast as Namor not Taco Paco.
|
But Luke Evans is 6 ft and 160 lbs (according to a quick google) and not 6'2 and 278 lbs you say Namor is?
|
Namor always looked goofy as hell to me, the "ripped Mr. Spock in speedos"-look would’ve never worked out in live action. The redesign is much better, but I’ll have to see the movie to say if I like it or not.
Figure is a pass though; MCU Marvel Legends are not my cup of tea. |
I mean, I won't defend the actor or anything since I don't know the guy, but "Taco Paco"? Really now?
|
Definitely uncalled for and fucked up...
|
How many of you complaining about his height hated when they cast a 6 foot 3 dude for Wolverine?
Also, give me Giancarlo Esposito for Doctor Doom!! I will accept NO substitutions! |
Me
I did |

I didn't complain about his height mainly because I always found Wolverine's height kind of awkward and might be too ridiculous looking in live action. I didn't know who Hugh Jackman was when he was cast but I recall commenting on him being Australian because for some reason Wolverine sounded australian in that Pryde of the X-Men pilot cartoon from the 80s that the Konami arcade game is based on. So aye I thought maybe they were having him as an aussie. lol. Besides the height Jackman nailed almost every other aspect of the character and helped increase the character's popularity to even higher degree that it was before. He even looked cool with the pointy hair and mutton chops somehow. |
It makes sense that they want to try and make this Atlantis not look like Aquaman Atlantis.
I also suspect they didn't want Atlanteans to be white looking because the animosity between Wakanda and Atlantis might get REALLY awkward looking. Makes sense to make them Mesoamerican looking for a host of reasons. |
A mod might want to get on this thread real quick before the racism of some users turns pretty ugly.
Figure wise I dislike Black Panther isn't in this wave but sometimes that figure wouldn't be a BAF component. Still it stings that we are back to square one of not showing the hero........even if I don't agree with Marvels choice in how they've handled the situation. Namor, I can't tell if it has no ab crunch via a ball joint at the waist(like GI Joe) or if it's just a solid brick. I think it totally looks like the actor. Though I loathe not having two closed fists. Also no nipples is kinda strange looking. Nakia, definitely stands out. But Hasbro's super dupe resistance to not give female characters torso articulation always makes these less of a figure. Curious how prominent this suit is in the film. Okoye, kinda in Korg territory. Looks like a BAF rerelease but it's almost all new parts. Ross -.......Marvels approach to people in suits has been less than stellar. So we got comic Black Panthers to fill the void one way or another. Black Panther - Vulcan body BP. I wish the Vulcan torso was modernized in terms of articulation. Still a nearly all black Vulcan body is going to make this a must get for modders. Hatut Zeraze - Meh, super duper meh. |
These all look hilariously bad.

This thread was heavily cleaned up.

Aww, damn. I'd just finished writing a response...
Ehh fuck it... The term "woke' has always felt like a device to me. It represents nomenclature that is either used to oversimplify being consciously circumspect when viewing matters of race/class/gender/culture/etc and their collective impact on the world that surrounds, or as an an invective designed to embody the latest boogeyman for those that feel threatened by a changing socio-political environment. I think the term is used in both tautological ways and, for some, in a manner to identify the 'enemy' to a particular worldview. Believe it, or not, I'm a canon guy as it pertains to the comics and the pulp sci-fi/fantasy/mythology I've consumed throughout my life. Ugly warts and all, I generally prefer things to be as I experienced them while growing up. However, you don't always get what you want and I have had to acquiesce to all sorts of changes when watching the MCU. Tony Stark didn't create Ultron. Hawkeye wasn't a doting father and husband. Loki doesn't use knives and Thor isn't a funny guy. What's interesting to me is that people seem perfectly ok with certain changes, while enraged by others. Incensed to the point of making nonsensical connections to some clandestine effort/conspiracy to snuff out a particular demographic. The same demographic that is still in control of shit, generally speaking. There's certainly a conversation to be had about how organic some of Marvel's changes have been and whether these efforts are altruistic, but that other shit is pernicious claptrap. At some point, as humans, we're going to have to figure out how to share this planet. I've had to soften some of my antiquated canon leanings to make room for more inclusive changes. It was annoying at first, but I've found some things to like within this new context and believe other people can as well, if they want to. When the world changes, it's an easier task to figure out how to fit into the mosaic than it is to bend the world to archaic beliefs. But I guess we'll see whether we go backwards or forward as a human race. Feel free to scrub. |

Earlier in the week, the dude complained how Tom Holland was the worst live action Spider-Man because he's nothing like the comics. Wait... WHAT????!! As for the term "Woke," it seems to just mean a show or movie doesn't support someone's personal political views of sexism, racism, homophobia, or transphobia, therefore, it is attacking them and is bad. |

As for Spider-Man, there is only one God level on screen adaptation… |
Okay, so back to Marvel Legends Black Panther with New Plastic Free Package.......
The Attuma ....Not A Tumor.......Attuma BAF. Looks nice but companies really have it out for torso articulation. |
Pre-ordered Okoye today. I can't wait to put her on my shelf next to T'challa and Shuri. Now gotta decide if I wanna get that Dora figure with the 3 heads to make Ayo to go with Okoye.
