I think I'm just happy that Prey finally delivered on the premise of Predators hunting in a different time period that was hinted at ever since Predator 2. This is fairly commonplace in many Predator media outside of the films, but the fact that Prey finally put that concept into live-action while delivering a pretty damn good Predator movie (especially compared to the last couple of ones), I like to think that's worthy of some recognition.

I wouldn't say it doesn't develop Predator lore though. The filmmakers have actually discussed the changes in the Predator's gear/design, reinforcing past assumptions of Predator lore while adding on top of it, so yeah. At the very least, I'd like to see the franchise move forward now that it's regained its footing.

MeLikeJinx 10-11-2022 06:25 PM

So that Prey Predator is the worst Predator when it comes to hunting and doing Predator stuff from all the movie Predators that we've seen so far.

In the same way that a modern US marine makes a revolutionary war soldier look like an incompetent ass, sure we could say that. When the humans are capped off at flintlock technology you have to scale back your Predator appropriately or we're gonna have a real downer ending.

MeLikeJinx 10-11-2022 09:33 PM

^ Look how fast human tech advanced compared to Predator tech in the same time period though... once humans start to achieve body armor like Iron Man or mech power suits the Predators won't stand a chance anymore and will stop visiting Earth I bet.

Plus that seemed like a real rookie Predator. He was definitely a threat but a lot of his trophy collecting happened throughout the film which leads me to assume he didn't go out hunting much before deciding to come to Earth. That was probably his inaugural hunt. The guy took a snake as a trophy. We used to kill bigass rattlesnakes in our backyard with a shovel and eat them. What the hell is he saving that for. No Yautja ladies are going to be impressed by that.

He would be turning it into jewellery. Predators are often show adorned with various bones in the form of necklaces etc. A snake skull it going to work better on a necklace than a human one.

retail version of zombo direct from neca, dont know if the image will show, still working on how to post pictures here

UNIQGEEK 10-12-2022 04:19 PM

Ill be getting a case of these next week. Wish i could get the sdcc ones, but as far as i know the only difference is the white slip cover that goes over the window box shown above. ( As you can see it has the green Munsters stick on the window of packaging , instead of it normally being on the white slip cover )

I have the 8" Valak...but will definitely be grabbing this one. The headsculpt looks like its been tweaked a tad bit, and looks better than the original. Glad they they went with cloth goods on this one as well in a vein similar to the Ultimate Ghostface a while back...

Boogieman4hire 10-12-2022 11:09 PM

I liked my 8' but it looks like I'm going to be selling that in lieu of this one. She's fudgable but she definitely felt too big when I put her next to the Crooked Man for example.

Dr Kain 10-13-2022 05:52 AM

How about some Halloween announcements now? LIke a Michael and Laurie from the original film?

Predators scaling their weaponry to the tech level of their prey is a pretty common thing in the series, even in the movies like when the Predators fight weaponless.
Once humans reach those levels of tech its implied Predators will up their arsenal too.

Prey felt like "What if a rookie Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn fought a Predator instead of machine animals."

Kind of surprised that it's been years since we got any classic Munsters figures. You'd think with the new movie NECA would be on that.

Would love a Horizon Zero Dawn film. That needs to be a Michael Bay produced movie.

Absolutely

The Nun is a bitter sweet figure for me. I love the character design. Never seen the movie (looks stupid). But cloth goods on a 7 inch scale figure (80% of the figure] F off NECA. Keep that shit on the 8" figures. Sculpt for ultimates

Krunomo 10-13-2022 04:45 PM

Passed on the 8" inch nun as it didn't fit with my collection. This being 7" is instant buy. Soft goods makes sense for this figure. Made in plastic this thing would have incredibly limited movement and everyone would complain that it lacks articulation.

19 more reveals to go. Hoping NECA does a Terrifier and maybe some of the new Cenobites. No doubt they'll do a Halloween Ends Michael Myers. Would like to see some new Thing figures.

I don’t know how many more NBX items I can get. They’ve been done so many times by so many companies. This needs to really “wow”.

Maybe NECA will do a larger Oogie Boogie than Super 7. Didn't like that he was roughly the same size as Jack and Sally.

Boogieman4hire 10-13-2022 11:47 PM

What will they do and what can they do to have these stand apart from the literal crowd? If they can do better Sally face than Super7 and a Jack that doesn't look like he's made of plastic toothpicks I'm in.

Comedian 10-14-2022 03:20 AM

Neca did an entire line of these years ago. In fact Neca had its beginnings with NBX. They literally did everything you could think of. Plates, bathroom items, pillows, snow globes etc. They even reissued the original hasbro figures.

The Oogie Neca did was big but green.

VashTS 10-14-2022 05:30 AM

Been rewatching the universal monsters movies because of 4k, and Frankenstein and Dracula are fantastic still. Black Lagoon is fine, but a step behind. All these movies had great acting, camera shots and just well done.

Looking forward to NECA, but shame they no longer do 1/4 scales really.
