…and it’s funded, oh to be a fly on the wall over at Hasbro tomorrow, that’s gonna be an awkward atmosphere. To all that backed it I’m glad you’re gonna get your hands on this, and let’s hope this leads to even more MOTU stuff, the franchise that refuses to die.

Edit, in the time it took me to come here from Mattel’s website and post this, and then back again it got like another 300 backers, people getting FOMO over King Grayskull.

Pretty funny since MOTU isn't even popular compared to Marvel property. The New Eternia stuff are > ML right now IMO.

It’s true, MOTU is nowhere near on the general public’s radar like it was back in the 80’s, and it’s nowhere near the heights of popularity that Marvel is. Hasbro dropped the ball with this latest Haslab, most of all with the cost, I just really hope this brings them down a peg or two, I don’t even collect ML, but if Hasbro start getting away with taking the piss price wise, what’s to stop other companies doing the same? As much as it would stink for the collectors that do want the Ghost Rider car, I genuinely think if this Haslab fails it would be a good thing for the toy collecting community at large.

And now Discover, American Express and PayPal are being accepted. Good for others, ticks me off but hopefully this brings more on.

Man ..you can't have the good without that bad..Mattel is pulling some more horseshit with these..

https://creations.mattel.com/pages/m...gil-abloh-motu.

$50 each for the reg figures and $60 for skelegod. I'm guessing $80-$100 for battle cat..cant see because the link isn't currently working.

Out of thier damn minds.

The actual artist, Virgil Abloh died last year, so this is just an even more absurd attempt at milking existing tooling.

I bet a shiny nickel if you scratch the designer paint off these, underneath are just the standard unsold versions haha

Comedian 10-20-2022 08:10 AM

Just hit 8,000!

Moaty has been unlocked!

They look like articulated chocolate figures.

Mattel creations just had a nice livestream showing off Eternia.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYDQODuHA0o

King Grayskull is now included for anyone that purchases Eternia, as long as it hits 10,000 backers.

I like that they’ve now included King Grayskull for any that back (assuming it hits 10,000), and not just those first week backers. It seems a little unfair, there wasn’t a lot of warning between announcement and it going live, it’s almost like a punishment for not having that money at hand just waiting to cover some massive toy drop. The Hiss Tank got it right, it was an incentive to back early, but also remained an incentive throughout for any backers afterwards

They revealed Eternia at the end of July and the campaign started 2nd week of October. Thats plenty of time.

I must have missed something then, in my mind it was shown in July, but not touted as something for sale, apparently they were asking people things like ‘would you be interested in this’ and ‘how much would you pay for this’. The next official news I heard was a week before launch, so unless I started saving or put money aside in July, bearing in mind I would have had no idea how much I needed and no idea when I would need it, I would have needed to have £800 in the bank ready to be spent on a toy within two weeks or I miss Grayskull.

Did I miss some announcements between July and October 5th?

Comedian 11-02-2022 05:54 PM

Mattel said in July that it would be available in fall by crowd fund. However no price was ever released. It was always rumored to be north of $500.

My bad, I need to pay more attention. I still stand by my point of it being a bit like a punishment for not being able to back it within the first week, sometimes life gets in the way and some folk can’t always be there at the start. I think it’s a nice gesture to make early bird tiers available to all that back.

Comedian 11-03-2022 03:27 AM

It really wasn’t long at all. Comic con was end of July and this hit early October. So we had a little over 2 months to save for an amount we did not know. This is a rough time for large purchases.

I’m also glad people can still get king grayskull, however many people….myself included…had to scramble funds quick with such limited payment options early on. If I knew everyone would get king grayskull , I would have waited for my bonus to come and use that.

I’m not a fan of keeping items from collectors but I’m also not a fan of Mattel changing the rules mid game.

cjflan32 11-09-2022 12:21 PM

Make something people want and no one gives a s*** about the price. Imagine that.

T0ySick 11-09-2022 12:29 PM

I'll be shocked if this reaches 10.. but never know. This is a unicorn.

Comedian 11-09-2022 04:24 PM

8,970 with 7 and a half hours left. It may do it, but these will be tough. Personally, moaty was the one I wanted……really just Eternia. If the base project can’t hit a target with out tiers, then the base project probably shouldn’t be the base…..looking at you hasbro.

I agree. Eternia was worth the 5..don't know where ill put it..but worth the dough..And Kevlar is a lame final tier. Should have been something crazy unique. Not another body with an old man head.

Condiment King 11-10-2022 12:04 AM

Looking at the number of backers on this makes me feel less bad about my plans to lay down the money for a Super7 Thundertank.

It’s true, I shat on the GR Haslab myself, but I’m about to pay out for Super7’s Thundertank, probably the least value for money vehicle released this year, BUT it’s a Thundertank
