Flynn said in a recent interview that going forward they're not going to be doing 4-figure waves anywmore (forget exactly how he phrased it).

In regards to Super7 I've purchased the first four waves of TMNT and the first waves of Transformers, MMPR and GI Joe. Twenty-nine figures I think. None for retail price. Other than the four Turtles, Optimus Prime, Goldar and the T-Rex Zord I found the figures to be the definition of average. Cobra Commander was so bad I didn't even bother with the other three Joe figures.

When Transformers Wave 4 turned out to be three figures and Wave 5 were revealed to basically be repaints it was pretty clear something was up. When I got TF Wave 1 for $80 at EE it was a signal that collector's have said $55 per figure is too much. Something's off with this company and spamming preorders won't help.

cjflan32 04-26-2023 07:13 AM

I was in the Hiss Tank forum the other day and the people commenting were painting their screens white over GI Joe Wave 4 and demanding anyone who dare say anything bad about Super7 leave. The most delusional actually think this company is going to put Hasbro out of business.

I'm not saying Super7's a terible company but something is way off here. AEW fans do this with WWE all the time. Just because you irrationally hate the standard doesn't mean the alternative is automatically better.

Not only can the Super7 Green Ranger not hold the Dragon Dagger properly you can't even pose it anywhere near it's mouth. Kinda weird how my "Hasblo" version can do that and my "Ultimates!" can't.

LeiaOrgana 04-26-2023 10:44 AM

I'm just not feeling these TNG figures. The mixed aesthetic just doesn't do it for me. Great portraits, nice accessories, but the bodies just look strange with them. Like they are inspired by the original 3.75 line from the 80's, trying to be retro and modern at the same time.

I'm kind of glad for my wallet as I'm just collecting so much at the moment. If they get deeper in and start doing Troi, Crusher, Yar etc. I may have to bite as I specialize in heroines, and if that happens it looks like there will be plenty of Guinan for me to catch up with if I need, haha.

yeah I have weird feelings about Super7's future too and the news that there won't be any waves with over three figures doesn't help.

have been debating whether to jump into the Simpsons line as I'm a big fan and I think the figures look pretty damn good (even if $55 is pushing it a bit, compare the value of the wave 1+2 figures to the wave 3+4 figures) but if it ends too soon I wouldn't want my collection missing standard versions of Homer, Bart, Flanders, plus Grampa, Skinner, Milhouse, etc.

Momaw Nadon 04-26-2023 11:11 AM

a lot of what I read on the 'net is: Super7 has plenty of licenses that people want to see succeed, but.....

dukefett 04-26-2023 11:39 AM

I think them moving to 3 figures will fare better since that's 25% less for people to blow every few months. It sucks for some lines to be "waiting" to get completed, but it helps if collectors aren't bailing because they can't afford 4 $55 figures. At least the next Simpsons wave includes 3 'normal' figures and not variants. Homer getting a second variant was a weird choice but he's the star so they'll be a lot of Homers.

They kind of started lowering the wave quantity with the Godzilla waves, they were originally going to do 4 figures for that too at $85, then realized that's a lot to blow at once and changed it to just release them in pairs.

If you're concerned about getting a complete set of a franchise then don't collect high-end collectibles. It will take years if not decades to complete if it gets completed at all. Hot Toys Star Wars collectors waited neraly a decade for Lando and a proper C-3P0, same with the MCU and Mantis.

To your point about hands the other day, I guess there is a larger difference between $165 and $220 that might make people feel better.

And yes, doing less of Banzai-Tron and Devil Flanders and more of Bumblebee and actual Flanders would help astronomically. One thing I can't fault the Joe, MMPR and TNG line for is character selection.

deecee4 04-27-2023 11:01 AM

If anyone is interested there's some bundles on EE for the GI Joe stuff, 4 for the price of 3-type deals.

Also on that note, Zartan's accessories... super disappointing. No smirking head or anything having to do with him being a master of disguise. A head sculpt that looks like a mask pulled off his face wouldve been sick. Color change gimmick is nice tho..hopefully it ends up having it lol. The reaction version was advertised with having it too but ultimately didnt.

are Super7 Ultimates in the same ballpark as Hot Toys stuff? I figured these were more in competition with companies like NECA.

Glow in the Dark Cheetara Thundercats Ultimates Exclusive

ddarko 05-24-2023 09:40 PM

Do such figures sell? It feels so unnecessary. I can understand doing this for some parts of an alien figure, or predator blood or something. But why for a character like this?

ghostbogey 05-25-2023 01:49 AM

I'm a sucker for...
"GID"!!!...

Cheetara "Glow"..
Sounds good to me ;^)

I assume this is in reference to the term "high-end"? That's being used in regards to the price. A typical Super7 figure is $55. Is is worth it? Are these in league with Hot Toys? F*** no to both.

I don't know who Super7's competition is but I do know they have a lot of licenses and waves of figures for each license are far between. For something like The Simpsons it's going to take a very, very long time for them to achieve what you're referring to.

They definitely sell and I'm pretty sure she glows in the cartoon at times.

Who displays their figures in the dark?

I dont think she actually glows in the cartoon. The glowing effect is supposed to be her running very fast. I would think a translucent figure would probably illustrate that better but, maybe they just wanted to change it up since they already have 2 translucent variants (jaga and tygra) in the line.

I do when I go to bed.

Solrac333 05-29-2023 08:07 AM

I had a feeling this would be over 60 bucks because Super 7 is INSANE charging 55 bucks. There were due to go even MORE nuts.

deecee4 05-29-2023 08:17 AM

Yeah, theres a $10 upcharge on GITD figures, due to some kind of scarcity of the pigment. They've been doing that for a bit now.
I absolutely hate that they nickel&dime when it comes to increasing the price but won't budge below their $55 price point when it comes to smaller figures like Snarf or when they own the IP outright.

Silverhawks Ultimates Wave 4 – Toy Colors and Vac Metal!

Dolemite 08-08-2023 04:01 PM

Super7's QC is bad enough on their regular Ultimates, but them telling you that the vac-metal will flake off if you don't handle these figures like fine china is especially concerning (well if I was planning on buying them, which I'm not). I predict people will be opening their boxes when they're finally released and little shiny silver snowstorms will start pouring out.
