But, maybe i'm giving them too much credit cause it feels like I could go through just about all of my Ultimates and find instances of questionable design & accessory choices.

I could totally see that happening though.
There's all kinds of weird licensing deals that play out in bizarre practical ways.
But still, I don't think Cobra Commander needed two helmeted heads when you could just change out the top portion for the stripe or solid color.

That's the irony, isn't it.
He has no patience for what the same thing he delivers.

Speaking of irony, that could have been funny if he was doing it ironically. But that would involve having a sense of humor.

I dunno about that; he's made quite a few videos raving unreservedly about 3rd-party Kenner-style Star Wars toys. Granted, these are also opportunities to criticize how the current license-holders are handling the brand but they do demonstrate that he's not grumpy about everything all the time (likewise his Playmobil videos).

For me it's that paradox where Im generally interested in his content but don't care for the person behind it. So while I don't seek it out, if i come across it-and it seems interesting-I'll usually watch. Separating the artist from the art, as it were.

Yeah, I can sympathize. I do feel he tends to be a bit too relentlessly negative but I also generally tend to agree with the points he makes.

He looked considerably cooler than the Hasbro drones goofing around with the Indiana Jones movie tie-in "whip" toy.

some 3-D renders of what we would have received in Simpsons Series 5 if the line hadn't ended

https://twitter.com/RMaster007/status/1761920492879925741

and who knows, maybe NECA or DST or Boss Fight or somebody will pick up the Simpsons license. one imagines the next company won't be so ill-advised as to not promise the main family in the first few waves.

Power Lord X 03-05-2024 03:33 PM

I love their Turtle Ultimattes so far I have Casey and April with Leo in the mail.

But when I get Karai will be the true test since she'll be the first Super 7 original figure without Playmates molds figure I'll have.

deecee4 04-01-2024 05:08 AM

Some very interesting news about super7, if it's true.
https://www.reddit.com/r/ActionFigur...ing_to_super7/

Atomsmasher 04-01-2024 09:17 PM

It is very interesting though I'll wait to see of its true and the results it gives. Some of the revelations are bad press in the thread.

flansered 04-02-2024 09:21 AM

If it's true maybe they will do something about their price points. Like when G.I. Joe Classified figures cost $25, why would I pay $20 for a retro figure that is worse in terms of articulation than the original figures from the 80s? Or why would I pay double the price of a Classified figure for an Ultimate figure that is of lower quality, especially when there's a line like Mythic Legions that hit about the same price point as the Ultimates and are much higher in quality in terms of production, articulation or paint apps.

deecee4 04-02-2024 10:39 AM

Lower price points...not sure I see that happening. But that'd be a great way to make a statement that things are different now. Even a $5 decrease across the line would be a big deal imo.
I also hope they find a way to price smaller characters relatively priced to regular sized figures. Snarf and some of the other smaller figures at $55 has been a huge turn off for me.

HoovenIV 04-02-2024 04:58 PM

The combination of price point, constant QC issues, using aesthetic as an excuse to use old articulation/molds, and line up selection were bound to catch up to them.

Most lines could crumble under just two of those conditions. Hopefully they can turn something around if this is true. Despite those above complaints I do enjoy some of their products and it's always nice to have different choices out there and niche things represented.

Super7 announced that GI Joe Ultimates! Wave 6 (all female DIC repaints) is cancelled. If anyone is heading over to Hiss Tank laugh at Zartan, Jeffrozup and the rest of the "Super7 is going to end Classified" crowd for me. Toss in an "I told you so" if you have time.

This. Company. Sucks. Give them money at your own risk.

Comedian 04-03-2024 01:17 PM

Every day I’m a bit more concerned super7 has my $800 for the thundercats lair. I never order direct, but it was the only way to secure this.

I'll say that I feel that this is a direct result of all the recent Ultimates waves dropping to around $30. Why preorder something for $55 when you know it will drop to half off, and no preorders mean Super7 didn't have the number to go into production.

The Elephant in the room here is Classified which is half the price and frankly 6" figures are more economical for collectors.

The reason their Turtles and Thundercats lines do so well is no one else is making that kind of figure for those licenses.

TMNT has Neca but those tend to be around the same price and quality and just stick to cartoon and movie stuff.

Thundercats outside of Super 7 is completely dead. So, your options are them or nothing.

But Gi Joe, Transformers and Power Rangers? All have cheaper more mainsteam toylines even if Lightning Collection is in hiatus.

Ehhhh I've seen too many company talking heads say "no no no, that thing that all evidence points towards happening? It's NEVER gonna happen!" and then a week later? It happens. Crazy!

On the other hand this community has a storied history of falling for the False Cause Fallacy to feed their confirmation bias then losing it when a given rumor turns out to be bunk.

deecee4 04-09-2024 06:00 PM

I suppose if you want to count the Ultimates collector base as primarily comprised of MOTUC holdovers then sure, why not.

It's more the toy collecting community in general.

deecee4 04-16-2024 05:55 AM

Has anyone gotten wave 3 of Silverhawks? They've been out for a while and theres still only one review on YouTube. What's that about?

I only ordered Mumbo Jumbo recently, I'll wait for the toy deco versions of the other ones and Molecular just looks goofy to me even though I had the figure as a kid and rather liked him.

BBTS is having another Super7 sale.

But everything's fine, nothing to see here, move along.

I think there’s a lot to be concerned with out of super7…..that said it looks like most of this is the Disney stock that’s really being cleared out….which makes sense with super7 losing the license.

This morning it was mostly a page of Disney stuff markedown but since then it's been updated to 5 pages of Super7 sales. Prices aren't as enticing as the last year's sale tho.

You do realize Hasbro and Mattel's stuff goes on clearance just as often and with much heavier mark downs than 10 dollars right?

HoovenIV 04-17-2024 06:54 PM

Yes, but the bulk/stock and the price they charge are vastly different.

My point is that you're all looking way too deeply into an online retailer having a sale.

Especially one that does so frequently.
